no matter what the school says.
I can honestly say that it is up to you, seeing as they are different each year.#
good luck
I hardly ever come here anymore....
I've signed up for it but haven't taken it yet. I'll probably do well, I'm an excellent test taker.
I made a 29 on the ACT my first try. I need to take that again too but I keep forgetting.
They're a breeze....
Just make sure you know the examinor :D

you have the wrong idea.
Dont listen to people who tell you they aint important. They determine your GCSE sets. Dont get stressed, they arnt very hard... Just relax and do casual revsion. i got...
Maths: 6
Science: 6
Englsih: 7
I wouldnt worry about it, SATs are just like long end of unit tests, they have the same dificultys theres just more pressure and its required by the government, but its nothing more than a longer version of the tests your teacher sets you in class.
If you're talking about the English yr 9 Sats then there piss easy, i got a level 7 in English and Maths and a 6 in Science, with zero minutes of revision.

oh come on, i didn't change sets at all!
and i did awful!
you have a stiff school

I did alright. I did all my revision in one day. It doesn't really matter if you do bad, just do well in class and you'll be good.

I think you may have quoted the wrong person o_O
Ah, my sats were fucking piss!!
meaning easy
And there's nothing to worry about, Sats just determine what set/group you go in next year/semester, that's it.
It's the GCSE's you have to worry about.
They really aren't so much important when compared to how you actually do in class to your prospective schools. Definitely be sure to take the SAT's twice, or if you like the ACT's better take those a couple time. Personally, I took the SAT's twice to get a combined best of a 1360 (shitty for me, IMO... but people hate me when I say that) and the ACTs once without a calculator for a combined best of a 31.
Good luck with your tests, they are logic based more than knowledge based, so if you're good at reasoning given a bunch of things, you'll do just fine.
Get this shit motherfuckers, in my Year 9 SATs, I got me:
A 7 in Science, a 7 in English, and an 8 in Maths because I did the extension paper.

There is no extension paper for maths, you either take the foundation, intermediate or higher.
LOL, I remember when SATS seemed important.

Uh well the highest you can get on a higher tier paper is 7 and I got an 8 in Maths, doing a paper only about another 5 students were doing.
I think the Brits and the Americans are getting mixed up again. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't SATs for university entry in the US? Over in the UK SATs are something you do in year 9 (Aged 13-14) to determine what group you go in for GCSEs (Aged 15-16). My marks are as follows:
Maths: Level 8 (God knows how I got that, drunken examiner or something!)
English: Level 7
Science : Level 7
I know SATS are fairly easy, but my parents were expecting level 7's all round and I would have been in trouble if I didn't achieve. How I got that 8 I don't know, that was ridiculous. Must have been some kind of mistake, no way am I capable of that.

Uh, well yeah, i just remembered... the kid with big hair, the nervous shaky kid, and the goth bitch took it in my school. :(

Hmm, that makes no sense to me, but checking the topic starter's profile I'm realizing that we evidently have to entirely seperate SAT tests that are completely unrelated to each other. Interesting.
Anyone care to explain the British SATs?

In year 6 (10 - 11 yr olds) you take a sats test in English, Maths and Science to determine sets for the next year in school. You do the same in Year 9 (13-14 yr olds) to determine your sets for the start of your GCSE years. There pretty pointless and rather easy to get high levels in.

mm, I read it after posting, thanks a bunch. I take it you maxed out the scores, based on Earfetish's post before yours.
I guess I'll explain SATs and ACTs, since I've mentioned them. SATs here in America are taken during your last two years of High School (usually age 15-18). They're used by colleges to figure out if you're suitable for their school or not, however more and more schools are preferring ACT scores to SAT, since SAT is Scholastic Aptitude Test based on logic and reasoning skills, wheras ACT is more knowledge based around subject areas. SAT recently added a third section for writing, but I was part of the last class to take the old style test without an essay on it.
Old SATs are scored out of 1600, with the two sections being scored in 10 point increments up to 800 each. The shitty part is, if you aren't sure of a question's correctness, you are encouraged NOT to guess on it. Every wrong answer takes away a fraction of a point (1/4 of a point for a 5 option question, 1/3 for a four option, etc.) while every right answer gives you points. I think if you leave a test blank you start out with a 200 on each section, so you can't get below a 400 on the SATs. The new SATs have added an essay section which adds another 800 possible points to be gotten, making the total possible highest score for these tests a 2400.
The ACTs are totally different. There are several sections that focus intensively on knowledge of individual subject areas. Each one is scored out of a 36 total points, and I can't remember if there is a guess factor or not. ACT is accepted by many schools, but not all of them.
