Congrats to EVERYONE in AFD for making such a great pieces, yet again, for AFD3. Now It’s time to move on…to AFD4.
Who’s accepted?:
As always for AFD, I’ll be taking ANYONE’s work, it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a THING that you've submitted to NG already to show your skill. But this does NOT mean ALL things sent to me will be in the final piece. The more QUALITY work I get, the longer the movie will be. As long as you put some effort into it, i'm sure it'll be fine.
So, I guess I’ll describe what this Collab is all about, for anyone who doesn’t know.
“All Fads Die!!!”:
It’s a Collab Flash in which, you kill all the things you hate on New Grounds, along with just slaughtering things you like, for no reason at all. Anything from a stick figure, up to Tom Fulp himself. The more controversial it is, the more we like it! We got pretty bashed from “All Fads Die!!!” Because we killed characters like “There She Is” and “Decline”. In reality, we love these animations ( ;-) ), but, it sure was entertaining to see them go down, huh? Don’t worry, we will put plenty of disclaimers to cover all of our asses. So your view will hopefully be taken lightly.
Ideas/what not to do:
Just take something that everyone knows (I.E. Clocks, Locks, Sticks, Barney, Madness, Decline, Dad N Me, Weebl & Bob, etc…) and destroy/kill it! Simple as that. Now remember, don’t mock other crappy animations by making a crappy animation yourself. I’ve had people send me a stick figure sliding across the floor, and they thought it was funny because they were dissing how they move. While, in reality, you look just as bad as them. If you’re going to do something like that, make the stick figure move all stupid, but kill him in an interesting way, so it displays some actual skill.
Bashing on other things:
If you’re going to slam something that ISN’T NG related, be forewarned, it has a far less chance of making it into the final piece. HOWEVER, I DO like change of pace, so, you may end up making something that gets co-author because it’s refreshing.
The fads get REVENGE!!!:
If you want to do a part where the fads strike back, and end up kicking OUR asses, go for it. I plan on mixing that in for AFD4 as a special something…it’d be cool to see them get some revenge, don’t you think? >.< Have fun with it, and we’ll see how it goes.
GAMES?!?!:
YES! I’d like to see a good selection of mini-games for AFD4. Make sure the games have a menu, with a control layout and an overview of what to do to play. I don’t care what kind of game you do, surprise me. The same rules that apply to everything else in this collab, apply to games as well. If you have an idea for one, but can’t code, tell us. If you can code, but don’t have an idea, also tell us. I want as MANY games as possible!

SFX & Music: I may end up changing your SFX or Music in the long run, to fit better with the overall piece. I haven’t heard anyone complain yet, so don’t worry.
LENGTH: Anywhere between 5-60 seconds…but make them the best 5-60 seconds of my life.
DUE DATE: BEGIN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! There’s no clear due-date at this point, but I’ll notify you guys when I start getting maxed out on pieces, and soon after I’ll stop accepting them.
IMPORTANT!!! (Changing tween and MC names):
It makes my job as the mixer, a LOT easier to do if you make your Movies and Tween names unique. Not: Tween 1, Tween 2… But “(Insert your name here) Tween 1” or, just randomize, like I always do “ons7etpcsept4trbtrev” (If you do random, make sure it’s many characters, so there’s no chance of hitting the same keys twice) Something like that. When I splice all of our stuff together, I’ll have to do this myself if you haven’t, and it takes time, and it’s annoying, and if your part wasn’t all that good to begin with, I’ll just drop it. The reason WHY I have to do this, is because: if there’s 2 movies or tweens with the same name, the animation will get jacked up.
Now remember…:
This is all in fun (At least, that’s what we’ll keep telling them ;-) ). But at the same time, be ruthless. AFD1 was a bit more “Evil” than AFD2, which was more “Fun” and AFD3 was a combination of both, though all of them equally rocked. Style is what this is all about. Show me something new, and you’re a co-author for sure.
RESPECT YOUR ELDERS!:
If you put a preview of your animation on here, trust the people who’ve been in the previous AFD’s. They know what they’re talking about, and they know how to get you the best shot at co-author. They’re all selfless as well (Meaning they don’t care if you get co-author, and they don’t) so trust them.
Co-Authors:
I am COMPLETELY un-biased when I select co-authors. I will only choose co-authors after I’ve seen ALL the pieces. If you do a better part than my best friend’s, you WILL get the spot instead of him. Don’t get me wrong, I love the guys who have stuck around for the AFDs, but I’ll show them no advantage over the new guys.
Assholes:
There’s no room in this collab for assholes, so if you’re looking for someone to flame, go elsewhere. Positive criticism only. I’m not afraid to drop experienced artists from this collab. Don’t be pussies, just don’t take up pages of this thread with flame wars.
DON’T ASK US “CAN I JOIN!?!?!”:
Because we WONT repeat “Everyone’s invited”. Just state “I’m in” and what you plan on killing, if you have an idea.
DON’T ASK US “CAN I KILL CLOCKS?!?!”:
Kill whatever you want! There are no “Spots” like normal collabs, in that, we could end up killing the same thing 10 different times (Which isn’t bad, if I mix it right). And just because someone’s killing something, doesn’t mean you can’t kill it BETTER and steal the limelight. Though, if I were you, I’d keep my eye on the forum, to see who’s doing what, just to keep up to date.
