4.07 / 5.00 10,082 ViewsMe and another programmer are writing a how-to book on the php language. It will cover the basics and a few advanced steps. I need some people willing to proofread over my examples of code and make sure they're properly discussed.
I would need someone to look for proper terminology as to not throw the user off track when he/she reads another documentation on the language. I would need someone familiar with php and someone who can spot my mistakes, because everyone makes them.
Any takers? I'm only at chapter 2 of the publication now and it will be a bit before the first version is released for peer editing.
It sounds like a great idea. I wouldn't mind reading it over for accuracy if I got time.
I can proofread the English language (too many research and term papers), but php is still pretty foreign to me and would be like me trying to proofread something in Arabic lol, sorry.
I'll read for spelling mistakes and grammar! I don't know much about PHP though :(... How much will it cost to purchase this book?
You should have just asked me, jerkface.
I'll do it if I've time

Well, I'm still not certain if it will reach the hardcopy level in which payment is mandatory simply to keep production up. However, if it remains as PDF for its entirety then it will be free to download but will have copyright of course.
I don't believe in charging for rewording of php.net concepts. ;)
I'm not brilliant with PHP, as it's a slow boat to china going the self taught route; but I'm always on the look out for missing paranthesis and missing semi-colons. Maybe I can help. As for the grammar and spelling, I have multiple awards from High School regarding my English marks (Albeit I went to a school that prided itself more for its football team rather than anything else, hence that's where all the attention went) so I'd be glad to help if this doesn't turn into something time consuming. Like beyond an hour a day sorta thing. Let me know. I'm sure I'd glean lots of little tidbits that I haven't learned yet.

Haha sounds good man. But it is possible to upload pdf files on cafepress.com to make some cash. You can make books on there and its simple to reach the hardcopy level that way. But its all up to you and a free download sounds quite abit better anyways :)
Nice idea man. I'm willing to read something - especially if it's about PHP. ;)
If you want a "will people understand it" check, then I'll read it.
I started learning PHP the other day, I'll have to post my login/register script on MW and have one od the phpers check to see if its safe :D

I'm willing to proofread the grammar and spelling of the book, but I can't check the PHP since I'm not good at PHP.

And I can read this book with absolutely no knowledge of PHP and give an insight on that perspective.

Dude, you're forgetting me. The sales manager in Europe. Lol.
I realy would like to proofread it too!

Thanks for all those willing to help. I know it's sort of beating a dead horse to write a php book since it's the most well documented language ever but I like to give a little perscpective of how to use methods combined, php.net doesn't really offer a tutorial type reading.
Plus, I hope to write more books about programming later in my life and I figured it's easiest to start with the most well documented and my favorite language.

There is nothing wrong with that. Beings PHP is your favorite language, it would make the most sence to write a book on it first, instead of somthing you know less of.

Pilot-Doofy, I have to be one of the one's for looking over that book. I am programming my own damn forums! Haha, really though, It would be an hounour to proof-read it and such.

It had better be with so many people proofreading and offering suggestions ;-)

Agreed. I can't wait to see people's input. Peer editing will probably be brutally honest but that's what I need. I know my first works always suck.
