I wouldn't say that Disturbed, Slipknot and SOAD are real metal, I'd say FIRST OF ALL BLACK SABBATH - The creaters of metal.

Then the big 4 80s bands - Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax (but Exodus should be there too)

Then there's the new wave of American Heavy Metal - Mudvayne, Chimaira, Fear Factory, Machine Head.

Then the fucken shredders - Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Mike Baugh (Mike's my guitar teacher, he's fucking awesome).

I think that's metal.
