How many times have you written a nice reply, read it over quickly, hit the post button, and then when you see your post some awful error is just jumping in your face. I've seen edit post buttons on other forums and love it. It helps for those minor mistakes that one makes in a post. They also usually tell the reader in some way that the post has been edited.
Just a thought on how to make these forums even better than they already are.

I've seen the edit option elsewhere, and it gets badly abused.
As someone said above, it goes like this;
1) Child porn gets posted 2) Banned 3) Edit original post.... "I didn't do anything!"
Thus, it has been consdiered before, and deemed to problematic to be useful.
