Pardon me while I take a stab at something.
There probably weren’t too many “chicks” investigated in that study.
I mean, let’s face it: video games are for guys, works of literature are for gals.
Furthermore (allow me to mean a little bit longer), seems the smart guys I grew up with played video games and RPG’s played them because they were already smart.
I don’t have any kids—and my fear of siring “challenging” kids is a big reason. I imagine there are video games which help genius savants break out of their shell & communicate. At the same time, there is only so much you as “Joe Helper” can do. We live in a world with a limited number of miracles, and we’d all like to live with some more, but there is an art in accepting what you cannot change. I’m sure that runs counter to the principles we value, but people are individuals—not abstract slates on which to write principles. People are just as real as you and me.
