I'm pissed off about the bannings I've been getting lately. Not that I don't deserve them, but because the same message comes up every single time. Something along the lines of:
"You are banned for posting in a spam topic. This only adds fuel to the topic. This is a mandatory ban."
I mean, whatever happened to the days when the mods would write you a witty ban message and then sign it at the bottom?
Sigh. I guess change has it's downside.

I'd just love to really know what would qualify as "complete nonsense", especially by Newgrounds BBS standards.

Are you trying to tell me that BBS users are born with the innate urge to post in spam topics?
That worries me.

That happened before? Oh..thats a surprise. It could be because i have actuallly only been coming on the BBS for like 3 or 4 months since i started using NG in december of 2004. I want to go back in time to see those days...

Not 'born with'. Conditioned to. It's not a flawless analogy.

Ah, that's where 'aversion therapy' comes in handy. We can help you with this sickness by giving you a generic and non-entertaining ban message every time you feel tempted to the flame.

so you just plucked the moths wings. not only will he not go into the flame, but without his flight he will not be able to find food and slowly die.

Actually, the wings aren't being plucked, the moth is just being taught not to fly into the candle. So in a way, its lifespan is being extended.

I'm picturing the whole mod holding a string glued to the moths butt kind of thing. I know mods are only doing their job, but I need that flame to stay warm, even if it kills me. <3

Depends on the mod viewing it. Myself, I very rarely use the Destroy tool. Chances are that it will be used less soon, the mods are still getting used to it themselves, and yes, some may have been a little overenthusiastic. However, here are some types of thread that will probably be destroyed (originally posted by FIGMENTUM)
- A thread entitled 'do you like clowns' with nothing more than a poorly edited clown themed hentai image inside.
- A thread with body "I just got off a 30 day ban so SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM" until all 6,500 characters were used.
- A thread with nothing but jibberish.
- Two other threads filled with "NGSUCKSNGSUCKSNGSUCKS" etc.
Basically, if in doubt as to whether a topic is a spam thread or not, don't post - it's not hard. In the case of borderline threads, err on the side of caution.
It is noticeable that less people are responding to obvious spam threads recently, so this is working.
