Thanks for the thread alexsmolik, and thanks for the support everyone else (not to mention your patience over the past year). I'm moving through the scenes at a really fast pace now, so hopefully everything will come together in time for the deadline.

Even though this probably won't be much larger in file-size than Prowlies, I have someone helping me out with a special preloader that loads the movie in chunks. This means that there'll be a short initial download of like.. 1MB or so and the rest loads as you watch. The only problem (or so I hear) is that there could be some performance issues, so we'll see.

Thanks again! Here's a couple of hi-res screenies:
Bitey and littleFoot (this one won't really work as wallpaper cos it's the wrong dimensions)
Background (this one kinda does though)

And that scene he posted in the alpha is just a rough!!?!?! What's the finished one going to look like?! Jeez I need to start getting better at animation so I can stop feeling so inferior.

That's good for peple with slow connections, and I'm sure they'll be somewhat thankful for it. I mean, who can't be thankful when a submission doesn't take forever to load? I do hope we'd have the option to actually wait it's fully loaded (I'm sure we do). I usually do not watch a movie until there is the little "Done" IE bar, I know, I'm weird.

Thanks! glad you like it :)

Mr Jiggmin, the background was complete, but it was just the bigfoot and the underwater effect that wasn't quite polished.

Yeah, I sure did.
So did many people I think. I guess I'm not the only one to have put that as my Wallpaper !

Meh ! I think the underwater effect, even though as you said it wasn't "polished" and finished, I still think it looks so realistic. First of all, there's the water effect, of course. And then there's the movement and that little fish, it's just so amazing.
I wouldn't have a thing to say about it !

Last I heard, he's making a website for a friend lol. He even gives the link in his website (www.goober.nu ), and there's a small clip of him, when you click "contacts" > Ola Bergner. He's in a suit and stuff. It's a very well done website I think. =)

Their style is totally different though. Ola does a shit load of smooth tweens and it's animations reside a lot in graphics, backgrounds and music, whereas Adam's style lies more in animation itself, even though there are of course beautiful backgrounds and music too.

And that is why I even have more respect for Adam's work. Since he animates it frame by frame, which is harder, but the result is much more artistic!

I just don't see Ola as a big big animator. I might be wrong, once again, but that's just my opinion.
Both rock though.

I've been searching for Ola Bernger and I wachted some Flash movies. Personaly I see tweeing as an art if you know how to do it. There's nothing wrong with tweeing - especialy in Ola's movies.
Although I think frame by frame givesa better animation style, for some reason. But like you also said, that's just my opinion.

Nah man, I just joined the forums since I love Brackenwood so much.
Honestly dude... just... go there, you'll totally understand what I mean ;-]

I remember I'm registered there. :)
That was a while ago, so I should check it again.

Yeah man, every single Brackenwood fan has a little something inside that just calls out for nature. We're nature lovers. In a way.
Not as in we're green peace ecologists or whatever, but we sure apreciate the beauty and the diversity of landscapes and what mother Nature has to offer us. Or Adam's drawings, whatever :)

Absolutely not, I also don't think tweening is wrong, nor it's a "under rated way" of doing Flash and animating. If done right, tweening can be totally wonderful, like in Ola Bergner's Flash, or some of Krinkel's. But it's certain that it looks less natural or less... conventional if you will, than if you use frame by frame animation. But both are good.

Thanks for voting, BonusStage!

You gave this Alpha a thumbs up, which means you assisted in raising its anticipation level! The anticipation levels help keep quality Alphas at the top of the charts until they are released, and lame-looking ones at the bottom of the barrel!

HEHEHEHE it's #2 in anticipation level.

My god the alpha pages are so much sexier than most of NG. I guess it's because it was a zine site so in essence that is what is supposed to be the prettiest part of the site :).....

Yeah, the little interview, if done right, if the right words are said, is totally sexy!

Yeah, there are actually TWO ! Bingbong of Brackenwood and the Auld Sage music video.
Well, if you consider the Auld Sage music video as a Brackenwood animation, of course. I do.

Krinkels' movies have been animated frame by frame, though. But there has always been discussion about tweening and frame by frame. I think it all depends on the artisit him/herself, what the artist is capable of to create.

You do that, and we'll welcome you among us ! lol.

As you said. And it also depends on WHAT kind of life the artist wants to create too I think. As in, is you're capable of both type of animation, each goes with a different style, a different way to do things. Adam has a very realistic style if you ask me, not compared to normal cartoons if you will. I don't know, I just can't compare Prowlies at the River with Dexter's Laboratory =/

These two arguments mean jack shit. First of all, Disney hasn't created any thing original for years. they get other company's to do it (Pixar) or they just steal ideas and slightly alter them. Second argument means nothing either, the old everyone, bridge, jump analogy works for this one. And also millions of people are fucking dumb.

I love Brackenwood though. so eh.

No more fucking moving .gifs? WHAT THE HELL. FUCK YOU.

IN THE NAME OF EVERYTHING THAT IS, WAS AND WILL BE HOLY this has been the most noobish thing ive ever heard in my entire life. I mean, "is not that great", HAAA. SHEESH...

Adam phillips is the BEST flash animator in the whole internet. And im not lying look at my flashes so u can see that im not a noob in animation. Ive studied some of the fbf techniques he uses, and believe me are pretty impressive. I mean, this noob said "hes not that great". I mean...All the flash authors like gerkinman(i hate his style i cant understand why he self proclaim professional animator, his art compared to adam phillips is pure crap), granfaloon(jerry) and krinkels (noobs i wont mention legfrog cause his style is crap, no real animation just creativity) are a bunch of NOOBIES at the side of Adam. Well, i will loose no more time n check his alpha, this will be pure ownage, maybe the best flash known by us. :D YAY!!

BTW, English_Gone_Anal should be IP banned from NG. What he just said suggests that he has no art apreciation at all meaning that his votes are pure crap. I bet this noob is a starsyndicate member....GO ADAM PHILLIPS KEEP PWNING NG!!!1shift1

Dude, I think you've just got something against tweening, you can't just say all tweening artists arn't any good. Look at Ola Bergner, his 'Nim's Journey' was nearly all tweening, and that was frikin awesome.

I thought it was a joke... but okay, I'll humour you for a second. Assuming English_Gone_Anal was completely serious in saying Phillips is not that great, you're saying he should be IP banned for having an uncommon opinion? I'm sure he realises Phillips' art is top-notch, but perhaps such a comment could be based on storyline, humour or style (and by that I'm not saying Phillips' work lacks any of those qualities, I'm simply saying they may not appeal to every single viewer (English_Gone_Anal in this case)). As such, none of us have any idea at all whether his votes are 'pure crap' or not, as far as I'm concerned any fair vote based on the flash itself is justified. As far as we know English_Gone_Anal might not even vote on anything - the lack of exp certainly supports such a theory.

Conflict of opinions is a fundamental part of any voting system. If everybody shared the same opinion there'd be no need for a submission to be voted on, since everybody would be giving it the same score. Judging a flash on different qualities is just one of the things that results in diversity of votes and therefore a more accurate representation of a submissions' global popularity.

I'll probably read this in ten minutes and facepalm. - RageVI
