For making REAL music, there is soo much more you cna do with the knowledge of how to play an instrument, than arranging loops of sounds on a program on your computer.
Real music is any sound, any noise, and sequence.
NOBODY on the audio portal uses software that makes music out of loops. Most of them can play an instrument, and a lot of that play instruments directly into the computer to arrange it.
Assuming music is made out of loops on computers shows you don't know much about software. There really isnt much of a difference. You still compose the music. You say where the notes are going to be, and when they will sound. You say how many instruments play at once, what they sound like, apply effects, add vocals.
I can understand that software can make music sound a bit too 'perfect', with timing being completely accurate, but you can eaisly make somthing on software that is origional, sounds wonderful, and people wouldnt know any better unless you told them.
I would KILL to have my own studio, but even if i did have one, its very hard for a single person to make a full track with different layers and make it sound good, while being able to dynamicaly change bits you want to change. To make music on your own, you almost have to use some sort of software.
Lets face it, what studio is complete without a computer plugged in for mixing, or a copy of protools for touching up. Infact, i challenge you to find a commercial studio without a computer.
Dont knock it until you've tried it.
