Ahoy fellow Newgrounders, behold, as I smallydude have another n00bish, flash related question. Here it is: Ok, in flash, I want to create an animated symbol, and then put it in my flash whenever I want, like in the "sprites" tutorial in the "learn flash" section of NG. Its almost just like that, nut I cant really see how it goes. And I'm not using sprites, Im drawing it, and then just putting it in the flash so I dont have to animate the same thing over and over.
Confusing question? Thanks.

Oh, after reading it 4 times I think I understand.
What you want is a movie-clip, or MC.
Take your "sprite", press F8, Convert to Symbol right?
Now select Movie Clip.
Double click the "sprite", and animate within it.
Now, at anytime, you can drag it from the Library.
I hope I thoroughly answered your question.

You are helping, but do u think you can tell me how to make a several frmae animation and turn it into a MC without dirupting the actual document. Should I open a new one? Like say its 8 frames, how do I turn that into 1 animated MC?

Highlight 8 frames > Edit > Timeline > Copy Frames > Insert > New Symbol > Movie Clip > Edit > Paste Frames > Drag new mc from library to stage... should do it!

Graphics are better for animation like that. They actually show the animation, unlike mcs.

Errrr.....isn't it the other way around? You can't put animation in graphics (unless there's a movie clip in 'em)

Ok, now my symbol is animated in the library, I can tell because I pressed the play button. [>] Anyway, when I import it from the library to the document and tween it, it isnt animated, just a still frame moving.... how do I fix it?

Totally normal. Itll show up animated when you export the movie, so dont worry about it

1) draw the first frame of you "sprite" 2) select F8, graphic 3) double click on your graphic 4) animate your next 7 frames 5) use when ever you feel.
I think this is what your trying to do.
