There are a lot of controversial debates out there... things like Evolution vs Creationism and Global Warming: Is it real or not. But you know what I don't understand, is why these debates exist.

Let's take Global Warming for example. The majority of scientists, including those at NASA, agree that Global Warming is real and it is indeed affecting our every day lives as we speak. Yet some people, refuse to accept this and try to argue that it's not real or that it doesn't matter. But who the fuck are they?

Hey, I'm glad you got a 20 minute lession on Earths weather patterns in High School last week but I don't think that puts you in the position to try to argue with NASA. So what if you're a politician... that doesn't mean you know shit about Geology. Hell, being a politician proves you don't know shit... about anything. So why should we listen to you over the National Snow and Ice Data Center?

The point I'm making, is that I think a guy that went to school for collage for 12 years to become a master in his profession and has been looking at on-the-site data for the past 15 years is going to know a little more about what he's talking about then some asshat in Washington a group of 15-50 year old average joes that make a living by selling houses or laying bricks. If your doctor says you have cancer do you go ask your dog training neighbor for his opinion? Fuck no, you listen to the doctor. Why? Because HE'S THE FUCKING EXPERT. So why does nobody listen to scientists?.

Yes that doesn't seem to make sense, but a lot of people like to believe everything is ok, or they like to stick to what they know. They don't necessarily like the facts handed to them in case report.

And quite frankly they need something to do whith their large amounts of free time.

Not at all. I'm not here to argue about Global Warming or Evolution. I'm simply pointing out that contrary to what you want to think, you don't more then a guy that's dedicated his very life to the study of the topics in question. Reading the newspaper in no way gives you as much knowledge as 24 years of education and 15 years job experiance.

Of course not, experts agree that there isn't going to be one single chain of evolution leading to man. There are hundreds of thousands of mixed breeding and evolutionary changes that made us what we are. There is no "missing link" nor will there ever be one. The missing link idea was thrown out years ago.

"Not to be feared yet" doesn't mean it's not real. It just means it's not a problem... yet. Besides, it's a plain factor of numbers... if most experts agree it's real and it is a problem then we should go with that and work on solutions to stop, fix, or further test the issue in question instead of waisting valuable time fighting like two children on a playground.

I used NASA as an example because everybody knows who they are. Other studies have also concluded that global warming is a problem. Besides, I find it hard to believe that NASA is smart enough to land on mars but can't figure out how to measure heat beyond a layor of clouds...

Traveling hundreds of thousands of miles away, no problem. Studing galaxys billions of light years away, peice of cake. Mesaureing heat through a thin layer or water vapor a few hundred miles up... fucking impossible.

Actually NASA’s been pretty fucking stupid in the last fifty years on many occasions of theories and money spending but hey there the fucking experts, just like George W’ya or Bill gates, they never screw up because there the experts.

I didn't say they never screw up, I said they know more then you do. Like them or not face the facts, you don't know how to build a rocket and launch it in to orbit so when it comes to those types of decisions people like you need to shut up and have faith in those that do. They're human... they're going to make mistakes and have bad judgement calls from time to time. But hey, at least their fuck ups aren't nearly as bad as they would be if that had you in charge.

Those that go to college (university?) are usually better off than the guys that have been working there for 15 years as they know more and as they’ve been trained sooner and with newer equipment, theories and all around knowledge is more up to date.

I'm not comparing the two, I'm putting the two together. 12 years of school AND 15 years of experiance is better then no education and no on the job experiance. Besides, on the job experiance is always more valuable then schooling. The real world doesn't work like a text book... the answer isn't always as cut and dry as Scholastic wants you to think it is.

Seriously, who would you want to give you gastric bypass surgery: A doctor who has been doing it for15 years, or a kid who just graduated college last night.

True, but you're missing the point. Even with Durkheim and Parsons obvious flaws, they still know more about their desired fields then the average joe. Sure, they made mistakes... but their mistakes are minor when compared to the mistakes me and you would have made had we been givin the same situation. I'm not saying Scientists are 100% right all the time. However, given the risk factor and the simple logic that they're going to be more right then me and you, I suggest me and you shut up and listen to what they have to say.

If you're another expert and you disagree, then by all means fight your ass off to prove it wrong; hell, it might be. But if you're some schmo that works at McDonalds, don't try to question the years of work some Professor at the University of Harvard has put in to prove Global Warming is indeed a fact. Professor WhatsHisName knows way more about what he's talking about then you do. I'm willing to bet that if any of the two are 100% correct, it's probably the guy that's been studing it for 15 years.

The same works in reverse. I wouldn't ask a Chef to sove M-Theory, nor would I ask a physiologist to cook me a steak. Let's all stick to what we're best at and work as a team to make the world better.

Actually, the big bang didn't create life. Life didn't spawn for billions of years after the big bang occured. If you put the birth of a universe on a year long calander where this very second was the last second of December 31st. All of human evolution would occupy less then 10 seconds of the last day, of the last minute of the year. Life from an explosion = false. We all agree with that.

Not arguing relegion, Im just showing you that the logic you apply to science can easily be reversed and used to punch holes in relegion. The only diffrence is that science, unlike relgion, has millions of facts to back up it's claims.

Not that I'm expecting an answer mind you, I'm just doing what I do best and pointing out blatent stupidty and lack of common sense with humanity as a whole. I know nobody is going to give up relegion just because a stranger on the internet told them to. Truth be known, I don't want them too. But I do think that those responsible for making these decisions should use more common sense and not be so affraide of pissing off the masses. When the supreme court gets a case like "Evolution in the schools" they should rule based on what the experts say, not what millions of construction workers think.

Point in case. Who knows more about the change in the Earths environment over large periods of time: NASA, or SHELL? Obviously NASA... so why do the courts and governments listen to Shell? Why does anybody listen to Shell and why are Shell even allowed to take place in the Environmental debate? In a perfect world, they wouldn't... 3rd party experts should make the call. Not oil companies.
