Right right, BBS forum games aren't allowed.
BUT.
This could be cool, and work, and it doesn't promote spam nor have that tendency to explode into disorder, since it's not based on a chronological order of posts in order to maintain itself.
It does promote creative thought and stuff like that. Lemme explain:
People can post in a couple of ways:
- Artist analogy
- Artist analogy & song analogy
- Real artist, song analogy
Lower your eyebrow; I'm not done yet.
"Artist" and/or "song analogy" means this:
The song Holiday by Green Day could be written as follows:
Vacation by Sexually Inexperienced 24 hours
Holiday = Vacation (pretty easy).
Sexually Inexperienced 24 hours = Green Day (not so easy).
Or you could just go with the artist:
Artist: The Really Old Game Consoles would be "The Ataris".
Or, with artist's names that are kind of hard to encode, just go with the real artist's name with the song as a clue (if you want). Or vice versa.
Basically, have fun with it. Post a few or many, and if you scroll though and see some that you know, reply with quote to the clues and take a stab. The use a quotation marks and question marks are encouraged; you may want to construct your clues like a crossword puzzle might. The thread says "analogy," but any clever clue is acceptable.
Try to keep the artists fairly widely known. Chances are someone isn't going to guess the abstract name of an underground DJ who has been analogized by yourself. Or just go nuts.
Oh, and this works best with a playlist in front of you, at least it does for me. I actually came up with this idea when I was relaxing and just looking at the song titles on my laptop the other day. Right now it's sort of hard to think of some, but here's a few to start you off! (Both the songs and artists here are "analogized;" try and point it out if you do it otherwise).
Artist: Man's Fantasy and Goal
Song: "Cool, I enjoyed myself."
Artist: Glowing Vegetables
Song: Where trolls live.
Artist: The Misspelled Insects
Song: Colourful Watercraft.
G'luck!
