Are girls as Homophobic?

I know many of us people on Newgrounds are, or seem, very liberal about things like being gay. There are a lot of people who around about being gay, and of course, quite a few actual gay people. In real life, some people tend to be alot less liberal about being gay, and i bet a fair few people who joke around on Newgrounds, are quite a bit less liberal around their friends about homosexuality than they appear on here.
But to get to the actual point of my post. Most guys will know from their youths, early teens and younger for example, that if anyone even mentioned the word gay, it got a bunch of the guys bursting out laughing, and most likely, accusations to the most feminine guy in the class being gay. Which is followed by said person denying accusations, and joining the bandwagon of homophobes.
So this got me to wondering, being gay is something frowned upon by most yound males, but what about the females of society? How do they feel about gay people of the same sex, how do they feel about gay people of the opposite sex (seeing as later in the teens, most males seem to become alot more liberal about the thought of lesbians), and is there as much prejudice against gay people from women?

chicks do love gay guys, on principle i think. even if they're not broadway scarf wearing tap dancers like some of the drama gay guys- it's like an automatic distinction point.

Of course everything is different, the sexes work in totally different ways. Unforunately I'm not a hugely big-postish mood. My outlook on the question would probably be pretty lengthy... In a nutshell, I suppose it breaks down into the natural role of the male versus female with a strong dose of the stereotypes and generalizations set forth by modern society.

Of course, you'll have your extreme cases, but for the most part I'd bet that females are more comfortable and accepting when it comes to homosexuality. Times are changing though, I haven't a doubt that this very topic was the focus of more than one person's Doctorate Thesis or some shit.

I know with guys, at least among my local area, that we have sort of an uneasy understanding concerning gay males. If the homosexual in question does anything stereotypically gay (limp-wristing, lisping, serious passes) he risks a sort of excommunication from his straight peers. Why? Straight males don't like being put in ackward situations, and commisserating with an openly gay male who does stereotypically gay things makes being around them as ackward as it gets. No, it's not fair, but the risk of yourself being equated as gay simply by association is usually enough to create the stigma that surrounds flamboyantly gay males.

I'd assume the same goes for the opposite sex (short hair, more masculine features, overt sexuality).
