I recently got this new recording interface called M-Audio Firewire Solo. But i've never worked with one of these kinds of things. Please help me! i've got no idea what i'm doing. everything i've tried hasn't worked in making it do what it's supposed to do. if you have this thing, or at least any experience that could help me, i'd apriciate some help. thanks. and btw, if you know any other sites that i can get extra help with other forums and stuff, that'd be great too.

What you got there is a dual microphone-guitar input hub for a computer. Plug the unit into firewire and that should power it, then jack your quitar in and you can use it to record audio live. Notable additions is the XLR microphone port, meaning you can use some seriously high quality microphones and a direct output.

I think it uses its own built in amplifyer, hence the output on the right hand side, meaning you can audition youself without recording it.

Basicaly speaking, its an amp that your computer can record off of.

well, i know what i've got for the most part. it's just that when i attempt to get into the system control, or whatever it is, it says it's not connected. but i'm not at my house, so i can't locate any specific problems right now. once i get back home, i can be on hands with it.

Does it have an external power supply or is it powered by firewire?

Are any lights flashing or on?

Have you installed the software, drivers and updated anything it asked?

Have you restarted your computer?

Have you read the documentation?

Basic questions to be awnsered.

it came with both. i read on the website for the thing that you should only use the firewire power if you're using a good cable (somethig like that) and i'm using the one it came with.

yes, as soon as i plug it in, a light comes on.

Have you installed the software, drivers and updated anything it asked?

yes, as far as i know. i may have installed it imporperly, but i've reinstalled it several times already.

Have you restarted your computer?

plenty of times.

Have you read the documentation?

yeah, and some stuff from the website. i may be missing something though like i did with my guitar when i had to figure out how to tune/set up a Floyd Rose. i completely missed a major step, so that may be one of my problems.

as for the question by the other person, i'm planning to use MAGIX Audio Studio Deluxe and Garage Band since the new Mac came equipped with it.
