Nes, SNES, and N64 were great consoles! The good ol' zelda games and all...
Anyways, I truely think that all gamecube games suck. But all systems stop making games sooner or later, its not like playstation one games are still made but, I do admitt that Ps2 and Xbox seem to of last much longer.

Big fanboy. When someone admits to worshipping a company, and flames anyone that doesn't like Nintendo, that makes them a fanboy.
I hope you die fUck nut ^_^ Ninty is the best company ever. you forget one important thing. Nintendo started the console market before sony and i think microsoft may B wrong :S. so stfu you dont know what you're talking about. i could talk all day about ninty but i wont cause ill need like 20 pages to myself...Jeez wat a fuck nut you are =D
I know why the Gamecube didn't sell:
When the PS2 and Xbox were released, there was huge coverage worldwide on the news, but the gamecube was released on Sptember 14th 2001, 3 days after the terrorist attacks, meaning the news buzz was concentrated on that. Sales of the console in Japan were still low by the time they were released in America and Europe, thus they didn't spend much on advertising for fear of failure. Typically, the console sales skyrocketed in japan afterwards, but it was to late for the rest of the world.
I'll admit that the Gamecube was not the greatest console, however you seem to forget Nintendo's reputation of destroying Video Game companies...
Consoles
1) NES vs Atari 2600 - Despite its much earlier release, the NES dominated the video game market with 85% of the gaming market.
2) NES vs Sega Master System -The beginning of the 20th century's Console War didn't spark much interest because there really was no contest. Sega was simply pwned.
3) SNES vs Sega Genesis - The Genesis was released sooner and gained strong ground, however Nintendo still in control with 90% of the gaming market. Desperate, Sega launched the Genesis II, giving Sega 40% of the gaming market and Nintendo 45%. Just when Sega was about to defeat their rival, the launch of the Sega 32x drilled the nail in the coffin, allowing the SNES to walk away victorious.
4) Nintendo Virtual Boy vs Sega Saturn - Nintendo's first defeat. They were severly pwned, I will admit.
5) N64 vs Sega Dreamcast - Despite an impecible start by Sega, the great selection of games of the N64 was too much to overcome. After only 1 win and 3 defeats at the hands of Nintendo, Sega stopped production of all current and any future consoles.
6) N64 vs Sony Playstation - The beginning of the 21st century's Console War changed the structure of the console market. Despite being released sooner, Nintendo met very strong competition from Sony because the Playstation used disks that were capable of better graphics, although there were longer loading times with the disks. Nintendo did manage to scrape a victory over the Play Station, however it would only get tougher from there...
7) Nintendo Gamecube vs Sony Play Station 2 vs Microsoft Xbox - The current generation of consoles entered a new obstacle for Nintendo to overcome. Not only did the introduction of billion-dollar company Microsoft shake things up, Nintendo had never truely been in competition with two companies all at once before. As things currently stand, it is estimated that Sony controls 45% of the gaming market, Microsoft holds 35% and Nintendo hold 20% (although I think with the decrease in the Gamecube's price, these stats might be inaccurate).
8) Nintendo Revolution vs Sony Play Station 3 vs Microsoft Xbox 360 - The battle that many say will make or break Nintendo. If Nintendo can pull off the Revolutions insane features, they might just be back on top of the gaming world. And after being in the business over 20 years, it is a spot that they rightfully diserve...but it will be an upwards climb to achieve it!
I just love how everyone in this topic is a fan-boy. It's just too damn funny.
I have all 3 consoles, and heres my thoughts on the Next-Gen.
360: Whee. New grapics systems. Fucking great. But, it looks pretty as hell.
PS3: The controller is like a boomerang! How can you not wanna buy it!? Well, maybe it's the $699.99 to $799.99 price!?
Revolution: New controller, new innovation, teh shitzor. I've always love Ninty, but... well, I'm wondering how different the controllers use will be?
See, even ratings. Well, *holds up Anti-Flame shield*, flame away.

Well said
I left newgrounds for a year and when I came back my entire signature is gone?! What the fuck man, that ain't cool.
Wait..i got a better idea! Lets all stop fighting its a fucking GAME SYSTEM! for fun! Jesus christ! People are crusing each other out because this is better than that. Its ment for fun and each system sucks in someplace and each system rocks in another ex like this
Nintendo - Classic good games Who can resist chrono trigger? Or super mario world? The classics that started and made what the gaming world is today will always remain in ours correct?
Xbox - Superior online play. Iam tottaly addicted..there went my weekend ~_~
PS3 - To many damn games to count hourless hours spent on this system
Now shut the fuck up and watch your goddamn tv
well look at the ds, they didn't stop making gba games. same with the other systems, when a console with better graphics comes out they start making more of that kind of game and not the older ones. The gamecube has some of the best games around, like super smash bros. and wind waker.
your opinion has absolutly no effect whatsoever to what i think so fu
The PS3 and Xbox 360 will kick the shit out of the Revolution.

Wow, you sure seem affirmative for someone with a post count of "2" and seemingly very few arguments to support your thesis.
You fail.

The only disadvantage to it (I think; please correct me if I am wrong) is that it has not aquired online play like the other two rival consoles.
Actually, it will have online play. Nintendo was very reluctant in adding it however. In fact, at one point Nintendo said "We don't believe the gamers want online...they want innovation! What today's gamer wants, is a Revolution!" However, because it was online capablilties that pushed Xbox and PS2 sales, Nintendo decided to include it.
NOTE: The follwing is from the scraps of research I have done and does require some verification
It seems that the Revolutions online will be free of charge, however some sort of attachment (sold seperately I assume) will likely be needed to enable onine gaming.
you mean kinda like the gamecube with a broadband adaptor?

Well yes, but way better. And I did make an error. Although it may be true that an adaptor might be needed to play against others over the Internet, the Revolution will have online right out of the box so that you will be able to download NES, SNES and N64 games. I'm sorry, I forgot about that..
wait will have a wireless broadband a/b/g?
Its true nintendo does that its a marketing stratigy.
At 9/24/05 06:18 PM, Flash_Cat wrote: wait will have a wireless broadband a/b/g?
if I'm not mistaken, it will be able to use a wireless signal (like from a router) or a broadband cable. It might be able to use a telephone hook-up, but it seems unlikely, because it will likely be too slow to handle the games.
Nintendo earns equal profit as does Sony.
Those sly dogs at Nintendo excell beyond comprehension. Sheer marketing brilliance.
YOU SEE:
By not putting all of their money on the risque home console market, they produce affordable alternate products. Gamecube is now cheap. The handheld market is at its paramount point right now. If you can't afford the DS, you can buy the GB Micro, which, in itself, is sheer brilliance in redesigning and building on a preexistant product line. It adds depth, much. They also produce, consitantly, tried and true software for their hardware. Its promising for fans and newbies who either want to savor something new, but something they are familiar with, or be introduced with a new, yet previously reputable, product.
In the end, Nintendo's leftovers are on par with Sony entire. I don't know the numbers off the top of my head, but you'll see that their gaming does compete with Sony's gaming AND misc electronics.

IF you read any of the interviews with mr.miyamoto. He said he does what the FANS want. Nintendo fans dont care about graphics. We ccare about seeing our heroes we grew up with like mario and link and everyone else threw the years into new 3d worlds.

Another informative topic on the BBS...
i hate people who make predictions like this when it impossible for them to actually know.
If every knows nintende never had sucess. If you buy a nintendo you are not investing in the future.
Well lets just see how they're doing....
1. Like CardinalFang said all tose game consoles lasted longer then 1 or 2 years
2.Nintendo SAVED the gaming industry. Thats right SAVED!!!!!!!!! When Atari screwed it up way back when (no offense to people who like Atari) Nintendo did something so risky that it should be rembered. They came out with the NES.
3. If Nintendo's game are so bad then how come they sold over 2,000,000 copies total of Nintendogs the first week it came out.
4. Sony was Nintendo's only competiter until Mircosoft.
5.Finally, as my friend would say... Nintendos games have AMAZING graphics, AMAZING gameplay, and AMAZING sound
ya no wat? why do i even bother with you people who dont care about Nintedo

To be quite jonest with you, it probably is about 25% now. I got those sats in 2004 and with the Gamecubes price being so low now, I'm almost certain that they hold more than 20% at this point. I'll try to dig uo the current stats and post them...

uhh...Sega was Nintendo's rival for only 10 years!!!
Alright...still no updated percentages however here is a recent article from Wikipedia which shows that although Nintendo is indeed in last place in North America, it is currently in second place in Japan (just ahead of Microsoft).
Despite this, the GameCube is currently in last place in Australia, falling behind both Sony's PlayStation 2 and Microsoft's Xbox [1]. However, in the console wars, it is in firm second place in Japan and the worldwide market; while battling with the Xbox for second place in the American and European markets (also, in terms of hardware sales, the GameCube is in firm second place, ahead of Microsoft's machine by a reasonable margin). Commentators have noted that whilst both Sony and Microsoft are losing money from every console they sell, Nintendo make a profit from every GameCube sold.
