Rudy Giuliani
I would love to see Bush nominate a minority or woman, but if Bush is smart he will put Giuliani up for the spot. Giuliani has support from both sides, and Bush does not have enought political capital to put up anyone contentious.
BTW - It would also be nice to have him out of the way for the 08' elections.
Thoughts?

Giuliani works
here these days. I guess, after a lifetime of public service, he wants to make the big money. I think he would be a good president; his leadership skills are great.

Nice thoughts; but Guliani is a politician, not a lawyer. Only lawyers are eligable for judgeships of any kind (including the Supreme Court). Guliani isn't qualified to hold court anywhere in the U.S.

Giuliani is a lawyerby profession. He got his start in politics as the DA in New York. Recently, he has been named a partner in a major law firm called Bracewell and Patterson, now known as Bracewell and Giuliani. Click on the link on my previous post for the news release.

Actually anyone can be nominated for any judgeship- be it local, state, or federal- regardless of their credentials. True it is nice to have someone who actually knows the law act as a judge, but it is not a prerequisate.
Even supreme court justices do not necessarally have to be judges in order to be tapped for the job; though odds are very good that they would never make it out of the Judiciary Committee and thus not become a judge.
Back in the good ol' days it was very common to have a "Justice of the Peace" that would basicaly act as police and judge all in one. Not suprisingly corruption abounds with this practice so it is only used in the smallest of towns in order to serve justice.

Thats not true, you don't actually have to be a lawyer, nowhere does it say that. However, to appoint anyone else is retarded cause they wont understand a thing.

I believe that nominating non-lawyers for judicial appointments was quite common.
As for a nominee, Janice Rogers Brown, DC appeals court judge and former associate justice on the California Supreme Court, is black and a woman.

Giuliani is a fool. He is nowhere near a good candidate for a supreme court justice. He lives for vice and is a liar, a cheat and is devious in his exploitation of people's pain for his and his friend's gain.

Pretty much no one liked Rudy till after 911. He's not a really bad guy, but he's also not fit to be on the supreme court. I wonder if he would even take the job considering his health problems.

Yeah, you are probably thinking of the current mayor of New York, Bloomberg.

Why would you even consider Giuliani? I hope this thread was created just for something to laugh about.
I don't hate Giuliani at all, but, having a well-known public figure as a supreme court would just be foolish. He is way to much in the public spotlight.

Screw that man. Christopher Walken for SC what are you thinking? HE'S RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT IN 08. Why waste him on the SC?
Seriously though I think Bush will nominate the Attorney General (at least I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of the Attorney General). I forgot his name but he's latino. But yeah, every time the subject of Supreme Court justices comes up, Bush talks about the Attorney General and winks at the guy. Though he has been doing that even before he nominated John Roberts so he might just be acting like a dick.

Why would Rudy Guliani go on the supreme court? He's a politician, not a lawyer. I don't think he has too much of a background in law anyways. This would be a terrible idea.
I personally hope Bush goes for a more moderate judge to take O'Connor's spot. I'm pretty satisfied with Roberts... he seems like he's more moderate than Rehnquist was, at least. Now if he assigned someone who was a lot like Roberts, a moderate conservative, to replace O'Connor, it would probably be the best any liberal could possibly hope for and they'd most likely just have to settle for it, even though it would still give conservatives the majority in the courts. But I'm sure things will level back out as soon as another liberal president eventaully gets elected.
