If you like ska, I should be one of your best friends on Newgrounds :D

I saw Streetlight and Less Than Jake in concert. Both of which are my top 2 favorite bands. I'm going to Ska Is Dead 3 this Tuesday to see The Toasters, The Planet Smashers, and Westbound Train, plus tons of local bands.

Word. Ska is the best.

I used to like Ska. I really grew out of it in the past year or two, though. I still listen occasionaly. I love the always upbeat sound they have, nearly allways cheery. And the trumpets and trombones just help light up the music. But I'm not that interested anymore, though. But Reel Big Fish is still awesome.

Of course! I saw The Pietasters with Mustard Plug last April. It was a real kick ass show.

And I'm seeing them again with Big D and the Kids Table.

I've never really gotten into music, but from the Ska songs I have heard, the genre is nice. Gives you that tingly feeling inside.

By the way, AngryToaster, your sig kicks ass. >:(

You must listen to the right ska, too. Don't start out with Reel Big Fish, becuase they made less and less ska as they went on. Listen to Streetlight Manifesto for starters.

Streetlight is Amazing, but, Less Than Jake, and (old)Catch 22 would probably be the best introduction into the Genre. Maybe some Specials.

Generic Ska. Like Reel Big Fish. To me, all their horn riffs sound the same.

Stuff like Streetlight Manifesto, Catch 22, and Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution are extremely good, and have horn riffs that sound different. It also might be that Tomas Kalnoky(god) fronts(ed) these bands.

Sublime is more Reggae-ish/Punk-ish than Ska. But, not all Ska bands have to have horns. Ska is noted by Guitar and Keyboard playing on the upbeats.

I love me some Ska, but I don't worship it like that silly AngryToaster guy. My heart is with old 60s - 80s rock. But, I plan on starting up a Ska band some day. I want to play guitar and keyboard/piano.

All the lyrics I make are written with a Ska sound. Sadly I'm not great at writing lyrics. This is something I was working on yesterday, but needs some heavy editing.

Bring it like the milk man
Beat it like the cops can
Bang it into my life
'Cause I'm livin', livin' just for tonight
In this beauti-- beautiful paradise

Now I'm singing with the birds, but my lyrics are absurd
With my shredded clothing on, I'll be rolling all night long
Watching hookers on the street, bringing all this fucking heat
But I'll still take my chances with the Devil's drink, 'cause I'll...

Bring it like the milk man
Beat it like the cops can
Bang it into my life
'Cause I'm livin', livin' just for tonight
In this beauti-- beautiful paradise

Yeah... Well... I try. It's unfinished and needs changes. But, yes, all the lyrics I write are with a Ska sound.

I've been refurbished and reissued, prepackaged and precooked, decontaminated and deloused, but I still smell, sound, look and feel like shit.

Well just recently I went to a local ska kind of show. It was really fun and I liked the music. I don't really know much about the genre of course, but I've been listening to some Big D and the Kids Table. Other than that, I'll probably check out some of the bands mentioned in this thread. =)
