the main reason ppl hate america is because they have so much power and such bad leadership. smaller less powerful nations are always jealous and insecure about the larger ones, its like always supporting the under dogs in sport, if ur neutral or not part of the bigger team u will support the other one. its a power envy thing

Here's what I think would happen without America. Without America, no country would have fought up against English oppression, no country has ever won fighting against their mother country. When America defeated the British in the Revolutionary War, it sent a message across the world that the British Empire is not all-powerful, that it can be defeated, and it gave the people ruled by the British a sense of hope and determination to fight for their own independence. So for all we know, England could have ruled the world for a few hundred more years, they could still be ruling with an iron fist today.

Without America, the world's main source of immigration, many countries would over-populate even further. China infact would become so massively populated, that the country would collapse under its own weight and sink to the bottom of the ocean! Okay, I just threw this one in for laughs.

And most importantly, without America, the rest of the world wouldn't have anyone to point their fingers at.

Here is what is fucked up. The rest of the world gets pissy at us because of our war with Iraq, even though there is substantial evidence that it was necessary (see best American President thread for proof and links). Yet, at the same time, they get pissy at us for NOT dealing with Sudan. WTF! It's like were damned if we do and damned if we don't! And here is a question for the rest of the world as well: If Sudan is such a big issue for you, why did you not deal with it yourselves! America is not going to single handedly fix everyone's problems. Perhaps you could have gotten off your butts and looked into North Korea (before it was too late) while we dealt with terrorist factions in Iraq. Truth be told, I think the rest of the world is acting like the spoiled child everyone wants to kill. We send billions of our tax dollars oversees to tsunami relief, 3rd World Countries, we are the only country I know of that has actually begun a rebuilding program for a defeated country, and I really wish our president would simply withdraw aid and economic relations from countries like France who simply cannot learn to grow up.

I don't get why so many people hate us Americans. See, all of Americans, except for the Native Americans, came over as immigrants such as on the Mayflower. If you think about it, America is just full of people with routes from tons of other countries, possibly yours. I myself have an English, German, Welsch, Scottish, Dutch and French background, but I was born in America an am an American citizen.

Also some of them hate America because we are a wealthy country(so some say). places in South America complain that america didnt care about the enviorment until we were rich so they're gonna cut down the forests till they are wealthy, seems they cant learn from americas mistakes just because we are wealthy.

So many people are chasing the American Dream. In Cambodia, in this shanty-towns, people buy roofs first, and television sets second. They don't even bother with running water. And their watching your shows. Half the people I know are going to leave for America within the next five years and never return.My government follows almost all of your governments strategies ( except for the really stupid ones).

Why do other countries hate America?
This is a vague and badly thought out question. No offense to the original poster, but it seriously encourages flaming more than actual discussion. We need to limit the topic a bit.
So....
Firstly 'Other Countries'?
A lot of this thread has been about Europe, Russia and Canada, lets look at Asia for a change.
Secondly, 'hate'?
I think hate is a bit too strong a word. Lets call it 'general dislike and distrust'.
Thirdly, 'America'?
There are millions of people in the USA, and it would be ridiculous to lump them up under one big group. Also, America has been a country for quite a while. And it's been constantly changing. I don't think there is anyone who hates America in all its entirety. But lots of people hate aspects of it. For now, lets look at America in the last five years.

Now lets look at some of the Reasons "Why Countries Hate America?"
1. Ignorance
2. Arrogance
3. Bad Leadership
4. Culture of Consumerism

1. Ignorance
The vast majority of Americans don't seem to know a lot about the World in general. I'm sure that most of you are knowledgeable folks. But, you are not the majority.

Now I know you don't believe me. Here's an example. I'm from Singapore. What do you know about Singapore? Of the top of your head? You probably won't believe me, but twenty years ago, my uncle migrated to America. Back then, you guys thought we lived in trees.Ten years ago, one of my mates moved to America. They thought we were communist and part of China. Five years ago, my friend returned. Apparently, by this time, Americas had realized we were not communist or a part of China. Apparently, we are now a seedy island that is a 'smuggling hub'.

2. Arrogance
Linked to ignorance. Also linked to people who think that America should leave the UN, or that invading Iraq was the right idea.

3. Bad Leadership
I think everyone here agrees with me on this. If not, go watch Jon Stewart or something.

4. Culture of Consumerism
I can't be bothered to explain this, but trust me, your culture is fucked up. Really, really fucked up.
