Yes that is ridiculous. It's sick to think that some people actually take this shit seriously and will probably end up not allowing their children anytime to themselves and always make sure they follow their children around when they are with friends. It's this kind of treatment from parents that would drive a kid to being a goth, rather than away from it.

I have to agree...this is insanely lame.

I match a good fifteen of the things on that list...and I'm such an anti-goth (in both lifestyle and opinion), it's not even funny.

Parents need to realize that children become adults, over time.
I'm not saying children should be treated like adults...don't get me wrong.
Sixteen year olds should not be treated like adults. I wasn't near as mature, logical,or reasonable at 16 as I am now.
Your sixteen year old daughter should not be allowed to whore herself out, or smoke meth in her room. Your child should never be allowed to defy a direct request. Your child should never be unappropriatly disrespectful. Fifteen year olds shouldn't be cutting themselves. Thirteen year olds should not be piercing themselves unsupervised.

But those things aren't the same as, say, listening to Manson...or being interested in sex. Those things aren't the same as wanting alone time, or wanting a lock on your door.
All children go through phases.
There's a reason you don't see 40 year old men listening to Manson, and wearing black lipstick. There's a reason grown-ass women aren't cutting themselves to stand out. There's a reason doctors and lawyers aren't listening to ICP.

Kids do stupid shit. They dig stupid shit. They're hobbies are stupid shit.
As a parent, it's your fucking responsibility to protect your child from some things, but to allow them freedom. It's also your responsibility to allow that which doesn't harm.

Those really are fantastic words of wisdom, I've got to agree. In fact, thank you, I think I'll always remember that phrase.

I've read this a long time ago, but it's still amazingly funny. I want to meet a person who doesn't have any of these traits... It would be fucking impossible.

But, you know, I'm glad these type of people live in the world. It's entertaining, and their cause doesn't interfer with my life at all, so I have nothing to worry about. I just sit back and get entertained.

Religious groups will do whatever it takes to tell you that you're wrong and you're going to Hell. I mean, why wouldn't they though? People always prove them wrong, ignorant, misinformed, biased, and constantly beat their asses down with science while the majority of America stomps on their pride through the media, video games, and books...

If I was involved in an organization that always got served like that, I would be pissed off too :)

Simply because they never grew up to this kind of music. There's a reason why our grandparents listen to crap from the 30s and 40s. My father still listens to some KISS, AC/DC and Black Sabbath, stuff he listened to in his late teens to mid-20s. Most people when they get older listen to music they grew up with because it brings back memories. I'm sure by the time this generation hits our 40s there will be some of us still listening to music we grew up with when we were teenagers. Like for example, I doubt I'll ever abandon Nine Inch Nails after being a fan of them for like almost 15 years. Maybe I won't listen to them as much, but abandon them just because I'm older, I highly doubt it. So in the future you just might see 40 year olds wearing black lipstick and listening to Manson, for old times sake. I personally was never into wearing make-up, but there's a good chance I'll be listening to the hardcore bands I grew up with well into old age.

I`ve saw this before, its fake. Someone did it while in boredon, but I think there ARE some people out there that still think like that.

True! They also consider that technology is the beginning of the end of the civilisation... There's even a village in south america, that is so, SO religious, that NOONE from the village can use technology, noone at all. The thing more technologically advanced there is an axe.

Anyway, remember that to be a goth, u have to be 5 or more! So, imagine, just someone which wears black clothes, rock t-shirts, silver jewlery, and behaves bad on home and on school, is a goth! I eat Count Chocula on occation, display an interest in Machiavelli and Nietzsche, sleep late, play RPGs, and wear black (hey, it's fashionable!); therefore, I must be a goth. Apparently, whoever wrote this list doesn't know any real goths.

So, the question is not, if everyone is a goth, but, what's wrong with being one? I don't think wearing black clothes and silver jewlery can be compared to drink blood and masturbating...
