Well, there's loads of programs to choose from when it comes to making computer music, but very few good ones are free, (that is unless u cheat and crack them or get the serial numbers from a dodgy site, which of course i don't advise:)
Fruity Loops is a great program to start with. Not only is it easy to pickup it's also a very comprehensive music making prog once you learn it.
Reason is another great prog, that gives u everything u need to start making music from scratch.
Acid Pro is another solid prog, it's all about finding which one suits your own personal needs.
