a musician wasting his life

heads up to all: I will go one about nothing important. If you play guitar you might understand how this fells.

I just need to know is there anyone who just picks up there guitar and hold like an Em cord and just plucks each individual string for the hell of it. Not playing a song just wasting time. lol In fact Im doing that right now. well between righting text and thinking. Ive actually thought about this once before. I was laying down on my bed, my amp on and set to clean and just played one note plucking each string one at a time for 2 hours. 2 fucking HOURS . My friend (not a musician) cam by and we talked altittle during the two hours. He got annoyed with the samething over and overand finaly left. Everyone in my house (still live with the parents till after college) was going nuts because It was the samething over and over. I think it was a Bm7 cord or something. That one cord in Yesterday by The Beatles. It goes G (with some fancy plucking) Fm the Bm7 a Em and so on. If Im wrong correct me plz. Anyways it never accured to me that 1) i wasted 2 hours of my life 2) it was the SAME damn thing over and over and 3) I didnt care. So I guess what Im getting at is should I care? I don't know. But I find that I do this alot lately, so should I worry about it. I also noticed that I have sleeped with my guitar (sleeping not sex) more times that I have sleeped (sleeping AND sex) with girls. And to top that I have passed up sex (even bj and handjobs) to play my guitar. Is this a bad thing? I mean I find more pleasure playing my guitar sometimes than sex it self. Like it is a higher calling or something. I dont know. I just want to know if anyone else had this situation. Oh god Im doing it again. Now im playing Am overe and over each time I stop typing. See what I mean. In fact it has taken me about 30 minutes to get this fare because Im doing the same thing over and over. ehh Fuck it. I guess Im done thanks for reading it.

Everyone idles...be it playing the same thing on your guitar for 2 hours, or watching the same gay crap on TV for two hours.

Mind you, passing up sex or a blowjob in favour of playing guitar is a bit odd. I mean...seriously :P.

I have done similar things. I have stared at the wall in my room for several hours just looking at the gradient colors created by the shadows on the wall trying to will myself to stand up and do something. I think its totally natural to zone out like that. Its probably a way your body deals with stress. Playing your guitar is a similar sensation.

As for passing up sex, its understandable so long as the girl was ugly, creepy, or far too slutty.

Sounds to me like F; A7; Dm.

But yeah, I've done the same thing. I've layed in bed with my guitar and played like one chord. Rather soothing...Not really for 2 hours. Maybe like, half an hour or so. Who's to say what's a waste of time?

Yeah its natural to just dick about and not get much done, but if you want to get something done just take a day off playing. Not even touching it the entire day.

Sometimes I pick my guitar up, and when I look at the time, what has seemed like 10 minutes was infact a few hours! And at the end of it, I've usually come up with some really brutal riffs.

There's nothing wrong with what you're doing, and the fact that you sleep with your guitar is fine. Just make sure you pull out at the last minute! Hahahahaha

Anyway, yeah keep doing it and you'll be a fucking excellent guitarist.

is it concidered cheating if I sleep with my sg on night and then sleep with my flying "v" the next? should I feel dirty? then there are my acoustics....i never sleep with them. not to say I dont like em big but i just feel more relaxed with a smaller smoother feel.

Yeah, I tend to do that to... just picking randomly on chords... somtimes making up my own chords just by putting my fingers on random places of the fret board.
But to me it isnt wasting time... I have written two songs of my own solely by noodling around with my guitar like that.

screw girls (not as in have sex with them) jst play your guitar. If you really are a true guitarist you SHOULD get alot of pleasure by playing your guitar, i do, possible more than girls (thats coming from someone who hasn't had a bj a hj a kiss or even a cuddle off a girl, or even a guy for that matter) Anyway, guitars are sexy, and you don't have to spend months to get their G string off..........
