I find it funny that all the great flashes with stupendous artwork and amazing animation are from outside the United States. Are americans just lazy?
Yes, there are a few good artists who are from the States and who I hold very near and dear to my heart but I have found that the flashes that stand out from the rest (and in a good way) are from outside of the States.

I said that there were some very good flash artists like the ones you pointed out but if you take in account that this site is mostly Americans and that a lot of them suck at flash while a few stand out and then look at people from Spain, Russia, etc. and see that almost all of the people from those countries that visit Newgrounds rock at flash you will see my point.

adam phillips isnt american, i think hes australian, not sure but i know he's not born here. also i think foriegn flashes catch your eye because the only foreign flashes that get popular here are the good ones. the bad ones justdont get veiwed by americans alot i guess. or possibly because every tom dick and harry has flash here. although maybe only a select few chang wung and pingpongs bother to try animation.

Americans arent lazy, we just have lives, unlike most foreign peoples. And I'm not badmouthing the Canadians and English, they're cool. Unlike the French.

No offense ; )

Most of these people from other countries that submit to Newgrounds are adults, just like the Americans that submit to NG and are exceptional. The ones that do suck tend to be much younger.

And don't make such badly biased assumptions either.

Lemme tell ya something... things like anime... nuh uh - not my type. However, people like the Super Flash Bros are incredible at what they do.

Now, I think that the US has its good share of artists though (like TomFulp... hmm what a concept) - but you do have a valid point.

I just counted the top 50 and came up with these numbers (2% margian of error):

23 Non-Americans

26 Americans

Now i started from the top and Non_americans had a big lead at the start. So this could be because Americans are lazy, or, that fact that it is America VS Every other country in the world. And out of all that i only found one canadien. Poor us.

Yeah, but about 90% of the people that visit this site are American because this is an English speaking site and about half the people on the top 50 are non-americans than you will see my point. Also I'm not talking about funny movies I'm talking about movies with amazing graphics and animation like Objectional Apparatus was made by a guy from Russia and that movie was amazing.

This topic is dumb... the only reason why foreign flashes are more appealing at times is because they have different influences and things out of the environment that people in america are used to so theres this inherited mystique and exoticness.

i think its all a matter of what sort of environment you are raised in... the graphic design scene varies from place to place.. the color combinations, the style .. its all relative ... its cool to see what other countries are doing in the scene but youll always be heavily influenced by whats going on in your own environment.. your work will always be american / french/ asian flavored depending on where you are.

Where on Earth did you get that figure? 90% of the users are American? That seems off, and I'm pretty sure you just made it up.

americans are short sighed and generaly so patriotic, they dont se that making something non american can be more apealing. But ofcouse there are exeptions both ways. I simply dont like america, I dont have a problem with americans though.

its funny, but I would dare to say that over 90% of all europeans think america is quite dumb, like bush said:

the terrorists will alwys find new ways to destroy america, but so will we!

i hate george bush, it's as if we stole an illiterate, politically incorrect redneck and put him in a suit. Oh, Wait we did do that...
I agree that america is very patriotic, and i wish it would stop.... i mean c'mon...

anyway... flashes in other countries are so appealing to us because it wasn't Made BY us
i do like them though... although some american cartoons are very good like the ones by James Farr (Xombie series), Adam Phillips (Brakenwood series), and many others that i cant seem to remeber right now...

I dont really agree with that... nobody wakes up and opens their flash saying oh today ill make something very Indian.
its all a matter of location and what influences you... americans are influenced by things near them just as brits... just as chinese people etc etc..
nobody is so in tune with the worlds doings that they can pick up trends halfway aroudn the world and represent them faithfully.
Most of the styles and trends come from exposure to them you have eat sleep and breathe them.. you can tell people who fake it.

We look at western corporate branding, canned laughter and generic production line entertainment as more and more boring because we have been subjected to it all our lives.

For all we know the japanese could be sick of their (as I percieve it) insightful, phylosophic, detatched movies and anime, and really strive for something more solid and predictable like a hollywood show or film where everything works out fine with a happy ending.

adam phillips is an example to my point of being influenced by what you are exposed to... his long years of disney steer his own work to have that disney-ish flavor.. everything from the storytelling to the execution... its unconciously done.
influences arent always just based on geographical location.. some are based on your job.. your family history.. your taste in music.. your favorite art periods .. etc etc

BAH this topic is going a little off topic. i'll just state some ground rules...

you CANNOT say "i think americans are.." or for any other country because everyone is different. you can't just stereotype a whole country by one type of person. for instance when people call americans fat, no, some of them are, but alot of them arent. you proabably see no fat people in some places, and alot in another. same in England.

im starting to rant now. so i'll go for a cup of tea and some buscuits because i'm english. mm tastes good goin' past ma yellow mishaped teeth good sir!

Ok, Ok, Ok, let me make something clear. I am not saying that any country is superior to any other country I'm saying that some countries are better at some things than other countries.
