I've been playing guitar for ages but my fingers won't harden. They heal completely then after about an hour long period of playing guitar they're badly blistered again.
I heard that putting out candles repeatedly with your finger hardens the blisters up,but it sounds untrue

How long have you been playing? It takes time.

It took me only about a week or two of playing bass for my fingers to start bleeding. Keep at it.

For like 2 years. My mates all have rock solid fingertips and some of them have only been playing a month.

get a table saw and then...
next time you replace your strings take a larger one and rap in around a piece of 2x4 then cut the wood so it isnt to big carry this around and rub your fingers on it. if you dont feel like looking like you just came from shopclass put super glue on your finger tips and let it harden without touching anything till it drys!

2 years......?
woah, anyways. screw using a pick, and screw using differnt styles. choose a style, play without a pick, endure the pain, then you'll have callusses.

Unless your fingers hurt after playing for a while? what for?
If they dont form on their own, and you're playing a hell of a lot, just let it be.

How will not using a pick make a difference? I heard playing an acoustic gives you calluses faster,i'll try that.

Yes, the strings are harder.
Or you could try out the bass once in a while. ;)

not using a pick will make it so your fingers are touching the strings. common sense. but if you've got another method, go for it. i personally have never found a use for callusses.

It will make a difference because your fingertips and nails are rubbing against the strings. You should never use a lame pick anyway; grow your nails out if you want to articlulate better. Also, if you're using an acoustic guitar, make sure it has steel strings, no nylon.

That happened to me when I was 7-10. Maybe it shouldn't happen to you.
Ow. Don't bother, they could pop.
