How do you decide the "best" reviewers? Do you actually go through people's reviews and pick them, or do you just decide on how many reviews that person has...?

This list isn't about the "best" reviewers (because that's highly subjective). It's about who has the most reviews.

Yeah, if it were a list of who writes the most constuctive reviews, people like KWAS71KCK would not be anywhere near the top. I know for a fact that people like Little-Rena and Haggard would certainly be there and i hope that I'd be considered in that number as well

Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. Now, how many reviews does the number one reviewer have?

As of about 20 seconds ago, XwaynecoltX has 17,835 Reviews for Flash alone. He's lost a few since the last update, which is a few posts above where this is written.

I spotted a new user some time ago with 992 reviews. He seems like a very active reviewer, I guess he´ll be high up in the ranks soon if he keeps his current pace. Welcome to emanhattan, and goodbye to MasterStalker :(

Congratulations being, of course, what you say for just about every single thing... OTHER than a birthday, normally, in colloquial American English, at least.
Ah I see. I was thinking it was more something with the "...in advance" cause I can imagine that is a bit weird.

Nah, nothing wrong with ye olde "in advance" qualifier when you mention something ahead of time.

Anyways, in Holland, 'congratulations' and 'happy birthday' are both fine if you wanna wish someone a happy birthday. Congratulations is more common actually, so I thought it would be the same in English/American as well. Guess not...

INTERESTING.

Cultural differences... WHODATHUNKIT? #;-}>

Uhu, I see what you mean there. Agreed that most of them do look a bit ugly, as far as numbers can look ugly...
And I guess one of the reasons why 36 is your favorite number is cause it´s dividable by many numbers? (36, 18, 12, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1)

You know it!

(psssst, you got every divisor of 36 except... you seem to be missing one important number: 36 x 1 check, 18 x 2 check, 12 x 3 check, _ x 4 NO CHECK, 6^2 check...)
(...)
(... 9, man! How could you leave out 9? #;-}>)

PLEASE TELL ME YOU'RE NOT JOKING, THOUGH!!!
I´m being dead serious here, don´t worry =/
When it was revealed, I was so relieved.
I was kinda wondering what I could be joking about there btw :p

Joking that Bahamut had fallen backwards from #36 on this list to #38 or #39... and not being ranked #37 (i.e. I was worried that he had fallen from #36 right to #37, and you were raising all that #38/#39 false hope just to watch my crestfallen reaction ;_;).

THANKFULLY, you weren't joking. Hence my relief.

17 is prime and ugly, but I don't hate it. Mostly because it's Lance Berkman's jersey number.
Never heard of him :p But I like 17 somehow even though there is not much to like about it. Perhaps because a 7 looks a bit like a 1? =/

(gasp)

That's like being in Europe and not having heard of... er... I won't say Beckham... but uh... Lampard, maybe?

Eh. You Europeans will catch on to the greatness of baseball someday (like we Americans will catch on to the greatness of soccer someday)... right? .... RIGHT? ... (sigh)

Let's face it... there will be humans walking around on Mars before either of the above happens in a meaningful way. Though actually, Holland and Italy are the closest countries in Europe to embracing baseball, I think. Come on, Europe... North America, South America, and East Asia... can't be wrong. BASEBALL. Try it! (just ask jonthomson and Coop, your pals across the English Channel! They'll tell ya!)

Whoops. Super long time between catch up reply part 1 and catch up reply part 2. Eh. That's great, but don't go asking me to give Toohot100 blams when gfoxclock needs them, that's all. #;-}>

OK...Go make some videos for YouTube!
NEVAR. Part 2.
You bastard! Why can't you make anything?

Because you know how in the 70s every faddish family had to have an ol' film (i.e. motion picture film, I mean) camera? And how in the 80s and 90s every faddish family had to have a video camera? And how in the 00s every faddish family had to have a digital still/video camera?

Well, not my faddish family. There are like 0 videos of me from my childhood, except maybe some sporting events/dance/choir/talent show type crap/other extracurrical school activities where someone was video taping everyone for the school.

I grew up not needing to record my life. And thus as an adult, I have never felt the need to get a webcam or anything like that.

I'm far more likely to one day try animating in Flash than I am ever likely to do a webcam Youtube video. Sorry, dude. ;_;

Oh, so you won't wait until they'd die down? That's good. :)
Nope, I gave up on that back in June, man. Just haven't felt like reviewing a ton since May, that's all.
And I've not felt like reviewing a ton since April. :P However, I'll go and review a ton sometime soon.

And so the time did indeed come for the both of us.

AWESOME!! :D Can't wait until then.

13 days until Clock Day. 8)

Done (the moving your 19 movies up to the head of the line of 100s of movies I have shortcutted in my "to be reviewed" folder)... and done (the actual reviewing by Clock Day part).

WIN!

I'm glad to have not let you down this time, after giving you the top 2000 exp list one day too late for last update. #;-}>

And thanks for the responses, BTW. I was amazed you responded so quickly seeing as how it was Clock Day and all.

Of course, no new reviews as usual, BUT at least I stay at 1236 reviews for another update. Hopefully I can stay there until the next update.

Good ol' 1236. You slipped to 1234 (also a good ol' one) due to two movies getting deleted, I presume?

Yeah, if it were a list of who writes the most constuctive reviews, people like KWAS71KCK would not be anywhere near the top. I know for a fact that people like Little-Rena and Haggard would certainly be there and i hope that I'd be considered in that number as well
Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. Now, how many reviews does the number one reviewer have?

:::facepalms:::

You saw the list... on last page of this topic... you asked how we determined the "best" reviewers... then we explained it's just about how many reviews people have... quantity, not quality, in short... and you ask that.

Please tell me you're a troll. PLEASE. You couldn't scroll back up and LOOK AT THE #1 SPOT ON THE LIST? ...................................... my..... god. His brain... it's full of emptiness.

I did watch the first episode, but I was confused. I decided to not review the first episode until I had a better idea on BEEBO. Maybe I should watch more to find out? Meh, I've written a decent amount of reviews since the last update, so I'm happy. However, I could do with writing a few more reviews before the update.

I've gotten further from #10 compared to the first post in this thread. At this rate, I'll literally never get there.

I must admit - a tiny part of me still wants to join that top 10. Even though it's completely pointless...

Maybe if I wasn't so worried about getting my reviews perfect, that'd help. :-/

And there's no system on the rankings for reviews. So, organizing all of these reviews must be very tedious...

Oh fuck, I knew I was missing one. 4 month-holidays are really bad for my math skills :( About time I go back to school again.

Oh, I get it now. Don´t worry, I am not that cruel ;)

No fucking way! We used to play baseball (well.. softball actually) at our school, but I always thought it was one of the most boring sports ever. Seriously, all you do is sit still and wait until you may finally give that ball a whack, once. And then you run around in a circle to score a point, only to return to the "bench" and wait for your turn again. Oh boy, what fun... =/

And it usually happened to me that a bunch of "not so very sportive"-chicks were in front of me which was a certain 3-out... So then I was standing in the field, frustrated, only to wait for someone to whack that ball in my direction, which happened like once or twice during a game at most (although it depended a bit on my position).

I´ve also been to a baseball game once, but watching wasn´t that interesting either imo. There were a lot breaks and very few moments with action.

So, long story short, I don´t like baseball because it involves a lot of waiting and very little action. It´s boring in other words, and there are probably a lot of people in Europe who agree with me. And hopefully it will never be that popular here, cause I don´t wanna see "soccer" (we prefer football but whatever) get replaced by baseball on our tv´s. </ rant>

Once again, thanks for the update, I'm starting to make a move into the top half of the list, but I won't start jumping up and down much until I reach the plateau of about 1,500 reviews.

Let's set the target for next update at about 20 Reviews, so I can gain 2 places. Now I've got to get a few more in, as I'm currently at 1,073. 15 more shouldn't be too difficult, but it all depends upon time

Like they say, it's quality over quantity, but if you really wanted to aim for the top 10, there's nothing wrong with that. It's reachable for you, even though you need around 1200 more reviews to get there.

Yeah, it can make communicating really diffecult sometimes ;)

Eh. Life'd be boring without COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN... always the saaaaaaaaaaaame...

Oh fuck, I knew I was missing one. 4 month-holidays are really bad for my math skills :( About time I go back to school again.

LOLs. Poor #9. Hopefully... in time... he will forgive you!

Oh, I get it now. Don´t worry, I am not that cruel ;)

Thankfully!

I never said it was fun to play, necessarily. I was talking about it being fun to watch.

Yep, having to wait forever to bat again kinda blows. And only some of the defensive positions have guaranteed action (centerfield, shortstop.... to name the main ones... pitcher, catcher, first base.... all are constantly active, but usually by doing the same ol' same ol'... pitch... catch.... catch all the put-outs at first...).

So yeah... unless you're a hard-hitting shortstop or centerfield, baseball's not the most glamourous sport to play, no.

And it usually happened to me that a bunch of "not so very sportive"-chicks were in front of me which was a certain 3-out... So then I was standing in the field, frustrated, only to wait for someone to whack that ball in my direction, which happened like once or twice during a game at most (although it depended a bit on my position).

;_;

I´ve also been to a baseball game once, but watching wasn´t that interesting either imo. There were a lot breaks and very few moments with action.

NOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo.... you now, plenty of people in THIS country complain about that as well. But even though a baseball game has no clock, and is usually mostly waiting for a pitcher to pitch, or waiting for a batter to be ready to receive a pitch... it's massively action-packed compared to American football. Which is almost all waiting for plays to start. The plays themselves take 2-3 seconds, and then you wait 30-60 seconds in between them, if not longer (time outs, challenges/replays, penalties, etc. etc.).

I never claimed baseball was super-active, though to me it is compared to most American football games (there are some teams that keep it fast and furious, but they're few and far between)... if you just care about your ADHD being satisfied, then yes, basketball, football, and ice hockey are more your speed.

But it is the QUALITY of the action that makes baseball so good. The drama. The tension. The gameplay.

Also, when you play baseball, you wait for the 8 other guys to bat before you get your chance again (if you're lucky enough not to be a bench player, that is, in which case you wait almost all game long to have one chance to bat or field)... but when you watch baseball... you watch all 9 players on each team.... for a total of 18 players... bat.

Which is... 18 times as much fun, eh?!

EH?!?!?!

</ rant>

I only said soccer because I was talking about the likelihood of Americans ever accepting association football, which is what we call it (soccer), compared to the likelihood of Europeans ever accepting baseball. I'm an American who's been to 30+ countries, lived outside of the United States for 3 years, been to a World Cup final (1986, Mexico City, Argentina over West Germany), and was raised by a dad who liked football just as much as American football and baseball.

IOW, a rarity in these parts. I think of the sport as both football and soccer, and can call it either with ease. It IS both, after all.

People in American sometimes refer to baseball as hardball. No one gets up in arms about calling the same sport two names... I wish you Europeans would realise there's nothing wrong with calling it soccer. #;-}>

Way to defend baseball, you turncoat bastich!!! ;_;

Would us ranting and raving at you convinced you to do the update quicker?

LOL.

One would think not, so why bother getting you pissed off with us - if you didn't update, who would?

Some other guy.... WHO WOULD DO A FAR LESSER JOB THAN THAT OF AUZ. Yes, we love him... baseball-hating ass though he may possess!

Hot Damn, there's more than just some activity in here again :) Now I've got to start pulling some serious weight all of a sudden

THERE GOES MY SHOT AT #1 AGAIN. The dream dies as quick as it is reborn. ;_;

And when I registered an account, you needed around 3000 reviews to get in the top 10. So the requirement hasn't gone up dramatically over the last 4 years.

It helps when reviews, more than any other stat, suffer from mass deletions so much.

Sure, people lose posts now and then, too. But compared to how much % of our total reviews we lose in reviews... post deletions are a drop in the bucket unless you spam on General constantly... and exp/b/p are safe unless you're on the verge of getting your account deleted, so...

Yeah... reviews swing up and down, which ensures the top 100 reviewers don't change that much in terms of #s... over the years. The faces do change, though.

I couldn't really grip it either :/

;_;

But then again, Americans probably think the same about Cricket.

I don't get a chance to watch much cricket, being in America. I have lots of cable channels, but I've only happened upon a cricket match once or twice in the past year. I'd try to DVR some, but my DVR has been running 90-95% full as of the past few months due to falling behind on my Daily Show/Colbert Report viewership. ;_;

Watch Ice Hockey instead - much more action :P
Wish I got Hockey it on TV :/

Then you understand my problem when it comes to Cricket.

I'd love to learn the game, as it's baseball's cousin... but I have few opportunities. I've tried to read about the rules on wikipedia... but I really need to watch moar. Reading about baseball's rules without watching any baseball would be just as confusing as what I was doing. It is teh fail.

I wonder Mister Coop83 if I'll overtake you again some time before the end of the year?
LOT's of spare time after my exams... I kind of have a personal rivalry with you in my head lol so you better watch my space :D...

Personal rivalry with Coop in your head? Oh dear. Make sure not to go too over the top with that, man. We wouldn't want you to follow in DoD's doomed footsteps. #;-}>

I did watch the first episode, but I was confused. I decided to not review the first episode until I had a better idea on BEEBO. Maybe I should watch more to find out? Meh, I've written a decent amount of reviews since the last update, so I'm happy. However, I could do with writing a few more reviews before the update.

Oh dear. Yeah, maybe watching eps 2 and 3 specifically would help... but I dunno. I was a fan from the first time I saw #1. Maybe watch it again. Have a nice pint o' Guinness first, if that'll help.

Awesomely hilarious in a very... er... unintentional way at times.

The rest of the time? Yeah, it's pretty awesome.

But some of those scenes, man.... super funny for all the wrong reasons. Gotta love it.

Yeah, review deletions really suck, whether it be a mod deleting your reviews or a flash being deleted (really hate the latter happening!).

Well, not to worry about account deletions at all.

Yeah... reviews swing up and down, which ensures the top 100 reviewers don't change that much in terms of #s... over the years. The faces do change, though.

But 5 years ago, you only needed 200 or so reviews to get into the top 100. Infact, I joined the top 100 when I had around 600 reviews.

You know, I had a feeling this had something to do with Lord of the Rings, but I thought you were making a reference to something else.

I've seen the LOTR trilogy.

I did watch the first episode, but I was confused. I decided to not review the first episode until I had a better idea on BEEBO. Maybe I should watch more to find out? Oh well, I'll go and watch the first three episodes sometime soon then. :)

It was easy enough for me, as it's a statistical game and that's one of the things I love.

But then again, Americans probably think the same about Cricket.

I never really cared what other people think about the things I enjoy. So long as they're legal, who are other people to judge me?

Well, I'm aiming towards a pace of about 2 reviews per day at the moment, so I'll be trying to keep that up. Reviews have never really been a strong suit for me, to be honest, as you kight have noticed by the difference between this and my other stats.

Turncoat? Moi? I'll have you know that I came to watching Baseball mainly due to my infatuation with the game of Hockey.

DoD?

He means Dream-of-Duke

Its not BAD rivalry, just a little thought when I review.
I overtook him once and he noticed that, after long inactivity he overtook me again by a long shot.
I'd like to just overtake him and secure a place above him.

Well, the way I see things is that a consistent pace is better than a sporadic pace. DoD has the feeling that he was incredibly secure with his pace of B/P and he continued to lord it over me. He went to China for about 3 months and suddenly couldn't get online there, because of China's ban on most things fun.

While the hare was sleeping under the tree, the tortoise continued to plot along in his metronomic way and eventually passed the Hare.

I make no bones about it, I am no hare in this Reviews race. My pace is sporadic, so far as I try to get at least 1 review completed every day, but with varying results.

If Aci6 passes me, he passes me. I'm out there with my own agenda on Reviews... it's been a while since I reported a milestone on Reviews though... Better get to 1,111!
