I have a problem with my computer. It decides to turn off at random times, but usually when im playing games, on NG's or elsewhere. Including actual off-line games that i've bought. At first i thought it was a problem with the fan overheating and forcing the computer to shut down, but recently when we were experimenting with the computer, we found a wire going inot the computer that, when messed around with was causing the computer to shut down even before it was on the logon screen. We messed with the wire some more and anaged to get it modereately right. It still turns off when playing games though >:(
Im also aware of the fact that we have viruses that AVG doesnt want to get rid of, and they could be causing the computer to turn off randomly. So, i neep advice from the group of people who know the most, collectively, about fxing crapped up technology. Soloutions please?

Your pc looks screwd, try getting new parts (water cooler works better then fans) or fixing it in a proffessional place.

We got it form this helpful local company. They will be willing to help i guess, i think we still have time on the warranty. Id rather wait until i get my laptop to send the computer in for a week or so though, so any immediate solutions?

I would start with basic maintance.

1. Run a scan disk and auto-fix any errors that are found
2. Defrag the hardrive
3. Run a spyware finder and delete any unwanted spyware you have
4. Run a virus scan and delete any viruses you have
5. Run another scan disk
6. Run another Defrag.

Is the machine running better?

It would also help if you wrote down the name of the virus's that you can delete. That way you can search google to find out how to remove it manually.

Delete all your files, and put them back on, then defrag, then run as much (store bought) anti-virus, anti-spyware as you can. You probably got a virus or maybe something worse from a P2P software like Limewire.

Thanks for all the advice. If it doesnt work after all that, ill just take it in to the repair place.

AOL is actually a great ISP, you stupid fanboy.

Also, as a last resort, to get rid of any spyware, just shift everything ot disks or an alternate drive and format your c drivre

we have viruses that AVG doesnt want to get rid of

Delete them manually, when avg finishes scanning it will list the viruses, it shows the file location (i think theres a button which takes u too the location anyway) and then delete it manually. Doubt this will work though cause im just a retard.
