For some reason when I click on the headphones to listen to someones music it shows the stop button but nothing is playing. When i enter the portal I can hear the featured music so I'm not missing anything and my speakers aren't busted. I try stopping it and playing it again but nothing happens. And this only started about a month ago. I need help! I want to listen to music on NG!

same thing happens to me dude.
just click stop, and then wait a few seconds, then hit play again. if this keeps happening, just do it like, 5 or times, then hit refresh. if it still doesnt work, then jsut come back l8er, and itll be fixed.

Or, another way to hear it is, instead of listening to in on Newgrounds, just download it instead and play it with Media Player, or whatever you have on your computer.

I've been looking around for sites that will let you post music...
Truly, I haven't found places that are that much better than newgrounds, for FREE.
Garageband? Sure it's a great community of artists that HAVE to review each other to get more songs up... but you have to review 15 songs to post 1... SOME people don't have that kidn of patience. Not referring to myself, I just signed up and I'm going to start doing it soon. myspace? You can only put up 4 songs free. Mixposure? Only a few songs as well. Bandspace? Seems cool enough, and they pay you 70 cents for every download your songs get... I'm not entirely sure about the license agreement though, gotta read into that and find out some shit. Soundclick? It doesn't have an option to leave reviews for individual songs.
I don't know. I think Newgrounds audio portal isn't bad, they let you put up AS MANY SONGS AS YOU WANT for free, and it includes a reviewing and voting system, with charts and a weekly favorite feature. Plus, the NG Mag links some of the best(or most famous) songs in the audio portal. If you want to pay for putting up music, then I'm more than positive there are better communities. But for free? I don't know... I don't know that many sites to put up music though, so if I'm wrong please enlighten me and I will check out those sites.
There are a few very simple fixes that should be made to this audio portal, of course, nothing is perfect, and it's still very very young. And the community has alot of negative users voting zero on other artists works. But despite these things... I don't find it that hard to keep coming back. I foresee it improving alot, unlike alot of you cynical bastard(hehe), you just gotta wait a year... or maybe two.

Actually that is 4 words.. the "I´m", being a short for "I am" should count as two. And Bound2SC aint no ripof of B0unc3??? Bound to Starcraft, I reckon it is? Or something totally different..
Join the Newgrounds Battlefield 3 Platoon (for PC)! DON'T ASK WHAT YOUR GAME CAN DO FOR YOU, ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR, UH, NEWGROUNDS! ON BATTLEFIELD 3. eh...

You made a couple of very good points [not to mention a very clever username].
I (and I think the rest of us) often forget how difficult and/or expensive it can be to market one's music while retaining rights to it, and this right now is one of the few fairly limitless options to do so. The reviewers who vote zeroes without ever hearing a piece really irritates me, but then again, that can be overcome by ignoring the ratings/rankings and focusing on putting out the best stuff that you can. [Call me an optimist, but maybe the best stuff will rise to the top anyway as the zero-voters find other victims and the legitimate votes cancel them out.]
All in all, I've been hopelessly hooked on NG since I signed up more than a month ago -- and just on the flash viewing/voting section even. Throw in the BBS and the audio portal and I'm officially ODing on a daily basis.

Also, Requiemzero, I'm glad you realize this. Everyone bitches and moans(Oh God we've heard this one before, SHUT UP DOUCHES) about zero voters. I KNOW I KNOW ITS A PAIN IN THE ASS, but it's a free site, where the main attraction is killing celebrities and watching hentai flashes(not really, but a big portion I would wager). You're bound to get the immature person come stumble onto your music and say hey, this is awesome! *ZERO* haha I have power!
But it has so many good features... I think people don't realize that the other options aren't THAT much better.
Anyway, a big NG audio portal fan right here. You haters can all kiss the fattest part of my ass

Hahahahaha!!!! Yeah...
I agree with everything you said though. Zero votes aren't the only reason I decided to stop submitting, but you're right, this is a pretty good site for music if you look at all of the good points... Come to think of it, there arn't alot of bad things about it. Maybe the filesize should be increased. 4mb per song is pretty crap... some of mine are over 60mb HAHAHAHAHAHA

I have submitted audio for the first time, but it says I am banned from uploading loops when I try again. What I can't figure out is why.
what is up with that? that is not cool

you submitted that is not yours... you downloaded a song and uploaded it, or you uploaded a demo song that came with a sequencer or something... one of the mods listened to it, recognized it as not your own and you are banned from submitting audio forever.
