Congratulations To

Haggard: level 51 -All hail Haggard, mighty king of the Angry faic!

Just got done shoveling a 4-foot tall wall of snow from the end of my driveway. My back aches, I've got blisters on my palms and my nose wont stop running. Is it spring yet?

At 2/8/13 01:19 PM, Haggard wrote: No, it was guano. Because... well, there are birds living on his head.

Indeed there are, but you might think he'd want to wipe it away every so often with some leaves or something. It's just wrong.

He's more keen to keep it small or putting it out, though. See pic.

It looks like he's enjoying spraying that hose a little too much. :P

I've spent most of my time playing guitar in recent years, but I started with the drums. You Bet Your Life I'd play the "roll" of O Baterista for Peart at the Rush concert this May! Though I somehow don't think I'd make it Home Again, once the crowd found out they've been cheated!

Cut To The Chase, Coop! Is this really your Grand Finale? I really can't wait until Bastille Day to find out if I've won or not...

Yeah, but those films got better as they went on through the series. This works for Star Wars, until Episode VII is released :P

Never got into Star Wars; I'm more of a medieval fantasy kind of guy.

I'm not sure that any Mrs Coop would like having a blam cannon inserted in her, lest she give birth to a P-Bot...

This is strictly your e-penis I speak of, which exists only in the digital world. Your real penis is not affected in any way -Mrs Coop need not fret. :P

Drink plenty of Red Bull.

I've actually been cutting back on the stuff. I used to go through a 16 oz can every day. Never got wings. :(

Better get saving, then ;)

I have the money to buy them now, I just have much better things to spend it on. Like bills and groceries. :(

Thanks To

Well, that's because he wants to become a firefighter. Here's an episode: Grisu.

Sorry, it's in german, so I guess you won't understand much. I can't find any other languages, not even french... But be sure to listen to the theme music at the end of the video!
Oh, btw: That little kid that speaks the voice of Grisu is still in the business. He's a very well known dubbing actor. :)

Anyway, I seem to be level up buddies with Haggard now.

Knowing the story already, I did anticipate a higher level of comic relief in this movie, when compared to LOTR. It's not entirely a bad thing, as The Hobbit is a better fit for that kind of thing, as you said. I just think there was a scene or two that NEEDED to be serious that were just made silly by being a little too lighthearted.

That is true perhaps. I agree that the scene in the Goblin caves was so silly that it started to look a bit cartoony. Like how they dashed through the caves and not a single arrow hit them. Heck, they didn't even have a scratch when they walked out.

The riddle scene with Gollum was excellently executed in my opinion. I was a bit worried they were going to cut that scene a lot, show like two riddles and move on, but they gave it a proper amount of time.
Yeah, I was worried about that, too. I think they knew it was the part of this first movie that many people would be anticipating the most. They did it justice.

Indeed. I think most fans would not have liked it if they neglected this part of the book.

As much as I enjoyed it, I still don't think three films was really necessary. Two, maybe, but three feels a bit like milking considering the book is only what.. 300 pages thick?
I thought the same thing before I watched it, but now that I've seen it, I have faith the next two will be just as good. At least they'll be less apt to leave out huge parts of the story, like they did with LOTR.

Well the additions they made to the original story were pretty good scenes at least. Like all the extra stuff with Radagast and the scene at Rivendell with Saruman. I'm curious about how they're going to work out the side plot with the Necromancer.

Maybe it was meant to be some kind of fungus or something? I have no idea.
White fungus that was positioned directly below the bird's nest on his head? bird shit, I say! :P

Now that I take a good look at it again, it does look more like bird shit :p

They had to. It's one of the key scenes in the book. Without the ring, the whole story wouldn't work out. So there's really no reason at all to cut down the riddle scene.

Also, I think they were trying to make some clear connections with the Lord of the Rings films, just for the crowd that never read the book.

But yes, it was very well executed. I liked how Bilbo really was fiddling around in his pocket before asking: "What do I have in my pocket?", just like it was described in the book. And how he slowly realizes that he is invisible while wearing the ring.

I always imagined that part to be a bit silly. Like, how would Gollum even consider that to be a proper riddle? However, they made it fairly believable in the film.

As much as I enjoyed it, I still don't think three films was really necessary. Two, maybe, but three feels a bit like milking considering the book is only what.. 300 pages thick?
That's my main criticism as well. LortR had to be done in three movies. It's three books, after all. It just wouldn't work in one or tow movies. But "The Hobbit"? I don't know...

They even cut a lot of parts of the LotR just to keep it all within 3 hour portions.

But oh well. It seems to be hip nowadays to split books in as many films as they think they can get away with.

Maybe it was meant to be some kind of fungus or something? I have no idea.
No, it was guano. Because... well, there are birds living on his head.

Yeah, Metal-Therapy's link convinced me :p

They regulate it, so it's more likely to be fit for human consumption than some horse that was killed over here...

Yes, that's my main beef; when they were captured by the Goblins. I actually didn't mind the comedic nature of the Goblin King, with his grotesquely sagging jowls. It was the general sillyness of their escape, culminating with the Goblin King saying: "That'll do!" in response to Gandalf slashing his gut. HIS STINKING, STEAMING GUTS SHOULD HAVE SPILLED ALL OVER THE FLOOR, DAMMIT!! (ok, maybe that's a little much) That was just a wtf moment for me, anyway. :P

Having alts is one thing, having them to participate in monthly voting is not cool. I'll say right now that I will definitely not make any of my alts get extra EXP from this.
I hadn't considered alts... Couldn't they make it so each IP address can only vote once, like with the Flash Portal? (That would really suck if two people in the same house had NG accounts, though.

That was further discussed in the news thread. Making it exclusive for supports could help that but there are consequences...

It can be difficult if one doesn't log in NG stats for 6 days and gets +60 EXP as a result making the system think they got the extra EXP from the monthly voting. I suppose you can track the deposit rate on your own but that's all going to be manual.
Honestly, I'm weary of looking at my deposit rating anyway. :P

I'll shut up about my deposit rating.

When you look at it that way, it doesn't sound that bad. Maybe they can compensate the challenge of the level system by adding ten more. It'll set the bar higher for the top users again but at the same time making progress a bit faster.
Adding 10 more levels at the highest tier would outweigh the 50 extra exp a month, I think. At this rate I'll be on my fucking deathbed by the time I reach the final level. LOL

Just try to keep that deposit habit. :P

I always like round numbers and 25 works fine. Stopping at 400 episodes with the movie would have been another reasonable place to retire but they had to go further.

Making it exclusive to supporters would make it pretty cut-and-dry... It just doesn't sit right with me, having a (pretty important) feature of this site being available to "supporters only." Newgrounds has never been like that and I don't think it needs to start now -and that's coming from a supporter. (I know other users have said as much already.)

Anyway, if it comes down between supporters only and no exp bonus, I'd rather do away with the extra exp, honestly.

I'll shut up about my deposit rating.

Just try to keep that deposit habit. :P

I would say that "I will", but it just doesn't carry any weight to me anymore; I've just let it slide one too many times. :(

Nah, you're good!

Just wait until I start bugging you about the Hexalist again. I'll wait until your final update is posted, at least. ;)

So I did some voluntary work at a local indie game shop today. My main job was meant to attend the Facebook page for the store for any incoming messages/comments about any queries but I ended up sorted out all the shelves for the shop. Well, almost all of them anyway. Made the place look a whole lot neater and the store owner was really pleased with the work that I did.

I'm glad it was discussed about before we all jumped ahead and had it on board. I didn't mind the idea at first but if it meant to restrict it to supporters only, I become less fond of it.

Yeah, about that... I think what might be best to do is sort out the update on Sunday and alongside type up the step by step guide. However, if Sunday plans do suddenly change like seeing my girlfriend, then it could become more of a task at hand.

It's just wonderful how the level 32 shuriken of this design aligns perfectly with the previous design's back-to-back shurikens. I have to deal with these damn things for 3 levels in a row now! >:(

By the way, this bomb thing is probably the worst icon I've ever had.

Yeah that was quite a while ago, wasn't it? Odd that there's already a 55 days difference.

Anyway, I seem to be level up buddies with Haggard now.

Yes. We wheren't that far away leveling wise from each other anyway. Everytime you leveled up, I knew that I was a few weeks away from leveling up as well. But now, we almost level up on the same day.

They had to. It's one of the key scenes in the book. Without the ring, the whole story wouldn't work out. So there's really no reason at all to cut down the riddle scene.
Also, I think they were trying to make some clear connections with the Lord of the Rings films, just for the crowd that never read the book.

I read a comment the other day. Somebody watched the movie and one guy in the theatre asked. "Huh? Why does he have the ring all of a sudden? I thought it was destroyed?" Oh. My. God.

Heh, he doesn't consider it to be a proper riddle, that's the whole point. ^^

Yes, that's why you just have to get the extended versions. It's really worth it!

But oh well. It seems to be hip nowadays to split books in as many films as they think they can get away with.

At least the movies aren't as shitty as Episode I - III. I watched Episode I in the movies, the other two, I only watched parts of III, when it was on the TV. And I really can't bring myself to watch Episode II...
It's like "What was he thinking?!"

It's quite clear that he's not caring, I'm just disturbed that someone thought bird feces would be a good idea for Radagast's character design.

Well, the birds don't care as well (they dump into their own nests!) and parent birds EAT the Guano of their children... I've seen it, man!
So yeah, maybe Radagast is just so much into nature that he doesn't care.

Sorry, it's in german, so I guess you won't understand much. I can't find any other languages, not even french... But be sure to listen to the theme music at the end of the video!
Don't worry, French wouldn't be any easier for me to understand. I understood the "happy birthday" song, though! lol

Yeah, but it's a french cartoon, so there have to be some french videos out there. I really would like to hear the original voices.

Oh, btw: That little kid that speaks the voice of Grisu is still in the business. He's a very well known dubbing actor. :)
Grisu is adorable!

Ha, I'm just glad I moved out (or... had to move out ^^) rather quickly after meeting my wife.
That's something I still need to do... Still not getting anywhere with that.

It's not easy finding something without a proper job. I was incredibly lucky that my father-in-law vouched for us, when my wife and I where searching for an appartement.

I always like round numbers and 25 works fine. Stopping at 400 episodes with the movie would have been another reasonable place to retire but they had to go further.
Even M*A*S*H ended after 11 seasons.
And most Britcoms only had 2-3 seasons.

I'm sure I don't even know half of the stuff.

Just watch out. It may be a bonfire but Grisu shall find a way to make the fire bigger. ;D
He's more keen to keep it small or putting it out, though. See pic.
I'm sure he has the more pure dragon side to him as well.

Nope. He's constantly looking for a way to "put out his inner fire".

Miming playing the drums is a difficult skill. You'd need a Passage to Bangkok to get away from that sort of crowd ;)
I've got pretty good Chemistry behind the skins, but lets face it, you'd need to travel Half The World to find another with Peart's skills...

There aren't that many - Buddy Rich was one, I think that Nicko McBrain and Mike Portnoy could possibly manage it, though they are very different masters.

By the Shapes Of Things, I thought it was, but Circumstances have changed. I'm a Working Man and I will continue to work at this!
I knew you wouldn't be so Faithless as to Turn The Page now, but will you remain Driven as we continue to Carve Away The Stone?

Driven, that's repetition, surely!

Wow, that could leave the contest in Limbo. For What It's Worth, I'm carrying on, in case we aren't playing that rule!

Are you sure? 4.5 months to get 10,000 B/P? More like May 6th 2007...
Very sure. Have you forgotten what kind of pace I was putting up back then?

I signed up for NG Log on May 8th 2008, so I added on 2 days to the end date to compensate:

I see. Clearly, I had forgotten that sort of 70 per day pace that you were knocking out at will...

Oh, and my pun for the day:

Wow, that could leave the contest in Limbo. For What It's Worth, I'm carrying on, in case we aren't playing that rule!

I want you to know that you can Take A Friend in me, but that doesn't change that fact that it's still my Mission to keep pouring on Rush puns Hand Over Fist. Can't you see the High Water rising? I hope you're still In The Mood, because I'm beginning to sense that the Epilogue isn't too far off now...

I see. Clearly, I had forgotten that sort of 70 per day pace that you were knocking out at will...

I had started working by then. My pace from May to around the end of July 2008 was scratching 100/day. Impossible to manage these days, though I would be if the Portal would allow it.
