It's the name of a metasyntactic variable. You can also split it up into foo and bar. ;)
But isn't a Foo Bar already a chocolate bar, that's copyrighted by Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters?

I don't think you can get trademark protection for that name. Even if you could, I bet Foobar (or foo and bar) where there before the Foo Fighters.

Yeah, or controversial topics, like politicians and stuff like that.
I'm a controversial topic!

My Wiki article can't be edited by anyone :P
But that's only because it doesn't exist. :P
Damn you, seeing through my thinly veiled truth...

HA!

I don't know the song too well. Haven't heard much of Brave New World so far. But at least I didn't see any spandex in the video.
Dance of Death? That's a classy album, how about that one?
Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't know much of the albums between Fear of the Dark and The Final Frontier.
Do you know any from Final Frontier, or were those terms inclusive?
I know Fear of the Dark and I bought The Final Frontier. But any albums in between, I don't know.
Alright, how about The Talisman?

Yes, I remember singing "Sur la pon d'Avignon" in French class. Not as much fun as you'd think.

That name rings a bell. Maybe I had to sing it as well in french class.

So uh... WHAT... is your favorite colour?
Blue.

WHAT... is your favourite colour?
Green.

No, Red!
*AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhh*
I thought that the answer was "Blue... no YELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!", but hey.
Artistic freedom. :P
So... WHAT... is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Is that an African or a European swallow?

I don't know.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhh!

Very nice achievement. Congratulations!
Yep, I'm happy with it myself but what would make me happier is getting in the top 100 at long last. I may be close but it is so far away.

I shouldn't even bother about the top 100.

I know a few furries. Infact, I may become one. :P
A dragon furry... the very idea is revolting.
That's what you call a scalie.

I see. You learn something new every day... too bad, I would feel better if I HADN'T learned this today...

Man, we are establishing this fact too much now.
No, in this case, you cannot say often enough how much it sucks.
I agree, FUCK WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER!

Thank you.

Nah, the shark's good. Ask Gagsy about that. They still should have ditched that unicorn skull thing.
Yeah, I really haven't payed attention to the level icons too much since the redesign. Especially not to those lower level icons, heh.
It's not as memorable as the last but what do you expect when I start at level 50 for the 2012 icons?

Yeah. Also, the FAQ/wiki still hasn't been updated, so it's kinda hard to get a good look at the icons.

At least I can get through weeks with ease so this will arrive quickly.
Only 3 more days!
2?

Yep.

We just had fun for a long night. Nothing wrong with that since we're adults.
That's right.
I just remember one time, I came home at 5 in the morning, and I really had to eat something. I haven't eaten anything since like 6pm on the previous day. I have never been that hungry before...
I actually had breakfast at McDonalds afterwards.

Hooray for any McDonald's Restaurant that is opened 24 hours a day!

Don't often swing by these parts nowadays but my last deposit landed me in a fun position I thought worth sharing. Not only did I reach level 54 today, but my current EXP total would be enough to achieve level 23 on the original level system. So in a way, I leveled up twice today. YEAH.

Of course, with the sliding scale of the old system the higher level users would spend days swapping between their new and old level before it finally stabilised... but I'm claiming it now and changing my user icon for the first time since the redesign. Just gotta hunt that ugly dildo down...

Hmm, an interesting little aside. I wonder...
Well, by the time it comes to 10 years for me, I'll have to admit that it will be hard to maintain my interest. Life is shaping up a bit right now and already I'm considering cutting back on my update schedules. I've been late for the hexalist update twice now so you know something's not right with me. :P

And those signs were visible for me a few years ago, with my now non-existent list updates. I'm determined to forge ahead, though.

Nihilism 4 lyfe
I'm not Nihilistic. I just don't believe in god. Agnostic, not Atheist.
Be agnostic all you want but I'm going for nihilism.

Fine, if you want nihilism, be nihilistic.

Actually, worst he can say is "No, don't be such a fucking retard. Go kill yourself faggot."
Yes, because we all know that's how Lois handles all of those "tricky situations"
I'll buy him two pints to say that to someone's face at the London meet.

And he'll say it to you, for offering him free beer. Win-win. Can we get it on a video?

Nah, I'll keep them shorts off. It won't be for long.
And speaking of tricky situations...
Don't worry, when you see me I'll keep my pants on at all times.

I'm sure Gagsy will love me for that :P

Heh, I only occasionally check on where I am for the old level system. It's years until I can even get to level 23 on that so I may as well forget it for a long time. However, it is crazy knowing that if we still had that we'd have been on the same level for a while. We're not that close in terms of EXP but it shows how big the gaps would have been now.

Sometimes, I think that religious folks use their faith as a cop-out for why they did or must do something. Suicide bombers, for example. "I'll get 72 virgins!" they cry. Disappointment appears to have been avoided.Keep up the good work.

To be serious, my beliefs are agnostic as well. When it comes to religion, I'm not so bothered about which belief is right. I just want to get on with my own life. If anyone has their own beliefs, I'm not going to think worse for them.
Sometimes, I think that religious folks use their faith as a cop-out for why they did or must do something. Suicide bombers, for example. "I'll get 72 virgins!" they cry. I'll trade them to live and to have one really experienced, clean woman, who is attracted to me. Then we'll see who can walk in the morning.
And doing that in the name of their religion only gives it a bad name.

I know some Muslims and I've never let my mindset get in the way of their beliefs or vice versa.

YES! We shall propose this to Luis. It would be even better if it was Tom Fulp saying that particular line but with him possibly not being in the UK for many years now, Luis is our best option. I'd offer Tom a pint of Guinness if he ever makes it here again.
I think that my offer would be a Jagerbomb
Fairplay but a Guinness is more rewarding.

Why? Jagers are the sure fire way to get drunk, fast.

Of course, it's better in private.
I'm sure it will be. Gagsy, will you please drag this horny pervert back to your room during the next meet?
At least you sound like you're not surprised in the least.

I'm not.

I don't think you can get trademark protection for that name. Even if you could, I bet Foobar (or foo and bar) where there before the Foo Fighters.
Well, the Foos were about since 1994. In Big Me, they parodied Mentos, by calling them "Footos, the Fresh Fighter" I can't find any info on Foobar...

Alright, how about The Talisman?

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESTWARD THE TIDE!
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESTWARD WE SAIL ON!
Westward the tide!
Sail by the Talisman!

Bahamut, you are most likely asking yourself, what this has to do with 42? 101010 is binary for 42. ;)

Ahhh, I see now. Well done.

Yeah, but will I still be here AND depositing regularly in 5 years?

Will I?

Will this site even exist in 5 years from now?

That's the more important question. Activity is really taking more and more of a hit.

If it makes things worse for you, I consider myself part of that fandom.
Well, it doesn't affect me that much, but I never understood the appeal of dressing up as someone else. That's one of the reasons I hate carnival, heh.

Well, it could be a while until you see pictures of me dressing up as a dragon but it must be done.

There's so many holes on this site still. For having them left like that for 9 months now, it's a joke.
Quite so. It shouldn't be too hard to write up the most basic features. Hell, they could even ask some users to do this.

And Tom claims the unicode problem is looked into now. That is good to hear because 9 months without using the pound sterling symbol correctly is pathetic.

And hooray for a McDonalds that's open 24 hours a day and near to a rock/metal venue.
But BOOOO for a McDonald's that charges higher prices than all the others!

I thought McDonald's were meant to be the cheapest. What the hell happened there?

I always get that feeling that I've missed a deposit somewhere. Thankfully not for my main but my alts, I may have slipped. Only one way to find out and that's the next EXP update. If at least +270 for them then at least I'm in check.

If any religious views are brought up in conversations, I'll try to shrug it off but not disapprove of anything they believe in.

Good, we've been through this many times and we accomplish so little. Well, at least the three of us will be in London in January so this will be fun.

It really is hard to tell. So many things can happen in those 5 years.

Will this site even exist in 5 years from now?
That's the more important question. Activity is really taking more and more of a hit.

Maybe it will become more active again, with HTML5. There are more and more HTML5 games in the portal. That's a good sign.

If it makes things worse for you, I consider myself part of that fandom.
Well, it doesn't affect me that much, but I never understood the appeal of dressing up as someone else. That's one of the reasons I hate carnival, heh.

A dragon dressing up as a dragon. Now that's something I HAVE to see. ;)

And let's not forget the inability to spell "Motorhead" correctly!

And hooray for a McDonalds that's open 24 hours a day and near to a rock/metal venue.
But BOOOO for a McDonald's that charges higher prices than all the others!
I thought McDonald's were meant to be the cheapest. What the hell happened there?

What I meant was, that prices may vary from McD to McD. For example, in some restaurants a Cheeseburger costs 1 Euro, in others, it's 1,11 Euros. And at that one overpriced McD (which happens to be located in the red light district of Hamburg) it's even more expensive.

Hm. But it has been accurate for me the past few years. Whenever I had an "account birthday" the timer on NG Logs says "X years 0 months and 1 day".

Nearing a retirement number that I set in mind some time ago, but with the current state of the portal I think I'll just break right through it and keep on going.
