Yes - brands officially endorsed by the state.
So, kind of like how it was in the GDR.
I would assume so, only a little more harsh, from what I've heard.
Even more harsh? I can't imagine how this should be possible. As far as I know, there was only one brand for each product in the GDR, and commercials wheren't allowed.

I once read that people bought many many tooh brushes, when there where rumours that the only factory that produced them was about to be closed down.

I don't recall people having to show massive outpourings of public grief, when the leader of the GDR passed away, or that everyone had to display a picture of their Eternal Leader, or Beloved Leader in their homes. Still, I've lived in neither, so would only know from what i have seen from biased news reports.

It'll even out - as we go, the teams with relatively few medals will clump together at the base of the table, while nations like the US, China, GB Germany, France, Australia and South Korea will make their moves toward the top.
I don't see any events coming up where team germany really has a chance to grab the gold medal. Silver for Lilli Schwarzkopf was a huge surprise in Heptathlon. I was hoping for a gold medal in discus, but the best german lady only ranked 5th. Now let's hope for hammer throw and men's discus throw...

I'm looking forward to the ladies' hammer throw, as the British entrant is a former ballerina and she actually looks quite attractive... for a hammer throwing woman.

Nope, no warnings are generally needed.
All the same, I'll pass. You don't want me to get invited to join in and show you up :3
I see no harm with a threesome.

So eye contact while we're busy roasting some poor girl wouldn't be emotionally scarring for you?

I don't think I'll ever write a single review for the literature portal.
If that's the way it's got to be, then that is how it will be.
Yeah, I'm just not one for critiquing badly written stories but if it's something really bad that I just have to call out on, then maybe I will review it. Then again, saying that I should be pelting every shitty pony flash ever.

Well, I will expect you to review the pieces that I'm submitting to the Lit Portal - Blammer, for a start.

Right, the cricket matches at the weekend were either a washout for the weather, or a washout for our performance. Yes, the first team won and continued a march toward promotion. Good for them. The second XI, whom I was scoring for managed to complete their innings of 219, before rain came and washed away a chance of us taking anything more from the game. 8 points to Cookley for that encounter.

Sunday was different, in that we got a full game in. Ranging to my left at Mid-on, to catch one of our Saturday 1st teamers was the highlight, personally on a sticky dog, which we probably shouldn't play on... A little later in the innings, I did cover a lot of ground on a lofted drive, to half dive, half stumble and get fingers to the ball, pushing it across the line for six. I was soaked and covered in mud.

We lost, but had a laugh, all the same.

It's kind of weird reading about your Cricket exploits since its freezing cold here at the moment and were quite a way from the Cricket season just yet. And I know you're posting these here just to sate the sportsman in me, because I'm fairly sure I'm the only one here that has a clue what all that meant. LOL! I'm pretty sure that you're the only one who knew what it meant. I was kind of hoping that some of the guys that we were playing against would get some video of me diving around the field like a prat. But alas, they were too busy reading out their one batsman's facebook page to him, while he was in the middle.

LOL! Also why would you guys play on such a horrendously soggy ground?

Because we wanted to play. I'll admit, it was not easy on there (I only scored 6, but that was shockingly 12.5% of our runs...) It was worth it.

Close parallels, but I think that the North Koreans have been oppressed for longer and more harshly than East Germany was. They both existed before the partition of Germany and still exist today, while Germany was reunited in emotional scenes in the aftermath of November 9th, 1989.

Now that's a good tune!

I prefer Cold Sweat, or Out in the Fields, but that is one of their best.

It's rare that people do - I'm not as prolific a News poster as you.
I may be a BBS mod as well as user of the year but that doesn't give me enough comments on my posts.

No, I meant that you post more News Posts than I do.

Phantasm Sphere. I'm not all that familiar with it myself but that's what the staff have declared it.

I mostly knew Cold Sweat from Helloween's cover. Must have listened to that to death but same goes for everything else they've done.

Eh, quality over quantity.

Yeah, I guess they where still fed up with all those pictures of Adolf, that where about everywhere, so it wouldn't have been a smart move to tell people to put up pictures of the socialist party. But I'm pretty sure that pictures of Ulbricht and Honecker where on display in public buildings.
Close parallels, but I think that the North Koreans have been oppressed for longer and more harshly than East Germany was. They both existed before the partition of Germany and still exist today, while Germany was reunited in emotional scenes in the aftermath of November 9th, 1989.

I think, the brainwashing just works better in North Korea. The people of East Germany needed about 40 years to finally stand up and protest against their government, which is quite a long time. But we don't know too much about the situation in North Korea... maybe people there are happy there? Who knows.

I was watching women's weight lifting (because gymnastics where on at th eother TV station). Weight category: 58kg. Those women looked very petite, but I don't think I could lift as much weight as they did. :o
58kg... that's just a shade over 9 stone. I am 10.5 stone (66.8kg) and struggle to press that weight above my head. These girls can do that with ease. Hell, they probably press more as a warm up.

I'm about 90kg, the girls should have a few more problems with that weight. :P
Anyway, Team Germany now has 10 Gold medals and is 6th in the medal count. Not too bad. "Only" 2 more gold and they can pass South Korea!

I did 5 reviews today (flash). Only 20 more until I hit the 1000 review mark in flash as well.
Five? That's more than I've done since the start of the decade. :P

Maybe you should just start reviewing again? :P

I'm... not so sure myself. I'll have to see what Luis says at the end of the month. I expect to hear something by then.
Well, I first have to finish my studies, then I have to find a job. Once I got my first paycheck, it should be enough for a short trip to London, though.
So not anytime soon then.

I don't think so. :(

And we seem to have a sunny week. I dreamt last night that it was snowing in August. I'm sure it will happen eventually. :P
Snow in August? Yeah, if you are in the southern hemisphere, this should be quite comon. :P
Just watch as climate changes makes a nasty turn... eventually.

"I see. So youâEUTMre saying warming makes it colder. Well, arenâEUTMt you the queen of crazy land! EverythingâEUTMs the opposite of everything!"

Scotland seems to keep itself away from our government. I don't blame them for that.
Yeah, this is what makes them so cool. :P
We don't associate non-England countries as Britain anyway.

That's a common misconception around the world, I'm afraid. People think "Great Britain=England", when in reality, England isn't even a country. :P
