Nice, Congrats !
How many resits are you allowed? For me there are examns where I only have 3 tries, others I have as many tries I like (obviously, the latter examns don't count that much towards my final note)

Thanks.

Well basically I can have as many as I want and it may take as long as I want. We don't have anything like a "BSA" as we call it here ("bindend studie advies", or binding study advice). It means that you don't have to get a certain amount of EC's by the end of the year if you wanna continue your study. I've heard of a guy who's been at my faculty for nine years and still hasn't got his Bachelor title.

Also, we only have one exam for one subject. If you pass, you pass the subject. If you fail you gotta do a resit. Other than an occasional bonus test, we don't have anything else that determines our grades. No tests in between or whatsoever.

Sadly I dozed off and missed the game and it was a good thing too, apparently. Ha!
I was nice for Alex to show up to the game. I knew if Hamels struggled then it wouldn't take much for the Yanks to capitalize on it.

Well, he was pretty good as a pinch hitter last night, but you've got to consider that Joe Girardi might call on him for one game (tonight?), because his meddling with the squad has come up pretty good so far :P

Yeah, I'll give him that and the game is tonight at 8:20p EST/1:20a GMT

2 more wins to go. As a Yankees fan, bringing CC Sabathia to the mound tonight, against Joe Blanton, you can't help but feel confident.

The Phillies really really needed to take game 3 because I knew CC would start game 4 in order to split in Philadelphia. It looks like they really have dug a hole for themselves and clearly the momentum has shifted.

Here's an idea, let's start discussing bands we like. :P
Yeah, so did you listen to Kid A yet? ;)
Indeed I have and it's a really interesting album but I still can't help but think that The National Anthem was inspired by King Crimson.

Lol, I doubt it. But I wouldn't be too surprised if that really was the case. ^^

Here's a good start. ;)
Didn't listen to it, but I'm sure it's much better than the original. :P
As a matter of fact, I prefer the cover over the original. Then again, it's Rhapsody, they can increase the epicness of songs like The Power of Thy Sword.

Yes, they should simply rename the band to "Rhapsody of Epicness".

When I began my studies I was in the last "Diplom-year" and now I have to finish everything until 2012. Time is getting pretty short now. ^^

Also, studies are divided into "basic studies" and "advanced study period". While in the basic study period there where courses I had to take and had to pass examns now in the advanced study period I only have to gather a certain amount of "BP" ("Bonus Points") in certain fields like "universal business studies" or "computer sience", but I have a wider choice of which courses I exactly want to take to gather those points.

Also, we only have one exam for one subject. If you pass, you pass the subject. If you fail you gotta do a resit. Other than an occasional bonus test, we don't have anything else that determines our grades. No tests in between or whatsoever.

gfox approves of dragons having swords under their crotches. Here's what he said last night on Steam:

01:17 - gfox: enough unicorns with dicks for horns!
01:17 - gfox: We want dragons with swords for dicks, damnit!

I couldn't agree more.

That wasn't a Futurama Episode reference at all. I was being serious, because my schedule is packed. Game 5 tonight and I'm starting to feel the effects of burning the candle at both ends. Of course, the USA going to Daylight Savings hasn't helped, as now the games finish around 5am, as opposed to 4am

Save that for the Poozy haters.
Already saved, my good man.
Say, has Poozy seen that video yet?

I'm sure he has - it was to do with something that he takes great passion in - cranes and American Sports.

And last night was a nail biter as well. Melky came up lame and Johnny Damon came up big to advance to 3rd, which was a game breaker. I think that may have finally proven to the Phils that we deserve to be Champions and may just kill off the series.

With Melky a potential issue with hamstring trouble, could we see Damon in Centre Field, with Matsui patrolling left? I doubt it, as if Melky isn't playing, we can expect to see Brett Gardner

The Phillies really really needed to take game 3 because I knew CC would start game 4 in order to split in Philadelphia. It looks like they really have dug a hole for themselves and clearly the momentum has shifted.

And that countdown now reaches 1. We're going to have to do it the hard way - Cliff Lee stands in the way and we're sending the best pitcher from our World Series platoon so far (AJ Burnett) to the mound. Should be a cracker, though I doubt a pitcher's duel in Citizen's Bank Ballpark.

Alright. We don't really have anything like that here. At the university you simply do a Bachelor and then a Master. If you graduate however, you get to pick whether you want to be a Master or an "Ingenieur" (the Dutch title for Engineer). Personally I prefer Master as a title :p

Too bad that all the study courses are now being converted into Bachelor/Master. When I began my studies I was in the last "Diplom-year" and now I have to finish everything until 2012. Time is getting pretty short now. ^^

Hmm that kinda sucks indeed. I have something similar here. They came up with a new system with all kinds of new subjects and I was among the last to go with the old system. So I have to be at a certain amount of EC at the end of each year, otherwise I'll have to go do the new system (which is gonna cost me a year). Since my study is quite difficult, I must say I have lots of trouble trying to stay ahead =/

Yeah, we only have examns at the end of each semester, no tests in between as well.

Oh okay. I thought you said you had several tests that all counted to one grade for one subject.

Well, OK, a map would be acceptable, yes. But how would it help you get the game done very fast?

That wasn't a Futurama Episode reference at all.

Oh, that wasn't what I was expecting.

Say, has Poozy seen that video yet?
I'm sure he has - it was to do with something that he takes great passion in - cranes and American Sports.

Indeed, him and his cranes.

Woah, careful with that, young dragon!
Why should I? It's my sword.

Because the riot will end pretty soon if you acidentally behead all those who are rioting.

Indeed I have and it's a really interesting album but I still can't help but think that The National Anthem was inspired by King Crimson.
Lol, I doubt it. But I wouldn't be too surprised if that really was the case. ^^
Have you even listened to King Crimson before?

No. And don't plan doing so in the future.

As a matter of fact, I prefer the cover over the original. Then again, it's Rhapsody, they can increase the epicness of songs like The Power of Thy Sword.
Yes, they should simply rename the band to "Rhapsody of Epicness".
Now I wonder why they didn't name themselves that and went with Rhapsody of Fire instead..

Maybe they thought, they shouldn't state the obvious.

I don't know if the Bachelors here have something like a BSA, but I don't have it, and I'm glad about that. I'm not a Bachelor, I'm a "Diplomer", which means I get a licentiate degree [=Diplom] once I'm finished.
Alright. We don't really have anything like that here. At the university you simply do a Bachelor and then a Master. If you graduate however, you get to pick whether you want to be a Master or an "Ingenieur" (the Dutch title for Engineer). Personally I prefer Master as a title :p

We have a proverb in Germany... "Dem Ingeniör ist nichts zu schwör" which basically means, someone who is an Ingenieur is an expert in (almost) all fields. So, I'd prefer "Ingenieur". :P

For me, it's not that difficult, it's more like, that subjects I need to finish my studies simply aren't offered anymore. I then have to learn a script and find someone who is willing to offer an oral examn...

Yeah, we only have examns at the end of each semester, no tests in between as well.
Oh okay. I thought you said you had several tests that all counted to one grade for one subject.

It's a bit complicated. I have certain "fields" (like "universal business studies", there's also a field which is called "specific business studies") where I have to gather a certain amount of points, but to get those I have to attend specific lectures that are part of this field and take a test in this lecture. If I pass the examn, I get points (basically I get 3 points for a lecture, but it may be different, depending on how many semester periods per week the lecture had, and if there was some kind of tutorial, etc.).
I need at least 10 points to pass a certain "field" (there's no limit on how many points I can gather in a field, so if I want to attend more lectures than necessary I can do that).

But all those examns are at the end of each semester, and there's a second during the semester break. Usually I write my examns on this second date, gives me more time to prepare for the examn. ^^
