You're right, there are many who discard this forum right away due to its statwhoringness and noobish questions, but if you look past that, you'll see that we're all a great small community on NG. This is what the General regulars really need to do. If I can look past all the bullshit on YouTube, they should do the same for this forum.

As far as I'm concerned, I've never really been able to get into the General Forum at all. If you look through my post history, you'll only find maybe 3 or 4 posts in that forum in total, and all in the same thread. I happened to notice that they were talking about which language is the hardest to learn, which happens to be something of a pet topic of mine. However, to be honest, there is absolutely nothing of any worth in that forum. In fact, due to the sheer lack of maturity present therein, I tend to feel far, far older than I ought. Anyway, I would have to agree that there is a much better sense of community present within Wi/Ht? than in other forums that I've visited. It says something when even someone as verbose as I can be considered a member. :)

As for your rant, Bahamut, I would also have to lend my support thereto. There is simply no justification whatsoever for making those kinds of posts, especially given the fact that the transition from theory into practice is not lacking in precedent in various parts of the world. Fortunately, the school which I attended has an excellent bullying policy - anything which I reported (can be counted on the fingers of one hand for 7 years) was dealt with within 24 hours at the very latest. It would also help, though, if people realised that secondary education, while important, is comparatively minor in terms of personal development.

Once you leave whatever form of secondary education you attend, no-one is going to care whether or not you were popular at all. Those who are lucky enough to get into a good University, preferably one that is reasonably removed from their previous schools, will find it a fresh start in just about every way possible. Yes, secondary education can be a chore at times where the other pupils are concerned, but it's just temporary. I reckon that far too many people fail to realise this simple fact.
