the hammer also is a symbol of blacksmithing, of forging and creation - and thus, ultimately, a symbol of purification, too, of cleansing, but also of growing. Rather philosophical, I guess, but that's the associations it evokes for me. :)

I was mostly just thinking of the fire used for forging, actually... it's a symbol of purification in itself, and it also can be used to do exactly that in a smithy. :) Well, I think - it's not as if I have that much experience with blacksmithing. *noddles* I like to think of the tank (the NG one, at least) not as a tool to destroy but rather as one to conquer new grounds, so to speak. It's still a rather militaristic metaphor, of course, and one I don't really agree with, but I guess one can reasonably argue that the tank stands for broadening one's horizon and for broadening the scope of the site to include more and more flash from more and more authors from all over the world.

Plus, most of the young whippersnappers probably just think it looks cool. :)

Hmm, a translation... it's something along the lines of the following: "if probity came as a weaponsmith / and forged on the anvil, surrounded by sparks / a sword, dedicated only to good / that would be a blissful time." Of course, that translation's entirely unpoetic and certainly doesn't capture the dated German, either - but it should give you an idea of what the whole thing says, at least.

I don't know that one. ^_^ In fact, I don't really know anything about opera at all - I only read Terry Pratchett's "Maskerade" (great book, BTW, so if you didn't read it, you should do so, although it might be worth it reading the earlier witch novels at least in that case), and I have a CD by Kurt Moll, a famous opera singer. On weekdays I intend to get at least 50 a day but a lot of the times I just end up getting around 30-40 points. On weekends I strive to get over 100 point and usually I am succesful except for this saturday since I had to go to a crappy barmitzvah! >:(

As much as I would love to see that happen if the NG staff did that then guess what? it would start up that tread of bitching "On my god the the bar is too high I can't get a Deity whistle" from the lazier users as well as the WTF I leveled down in whistle power threads. as for adding new whistle levels I Wade was talking about adding some new levels as well If they do I hope they add one for the top user that doesn't give any power extra power. (so the top user don't hurt the rest of the masses who are lower in whistle points like with the old system)

Oh please You got to be kidding me. I don't know how hard it is to get a gold whistle now since I got mine before the change but it can't be anywhere as hard as what I had to go through. try to image the system still being on the sliding scale the EXP system is on now and the top user raising the bar higher whenever they got whistle points while at the same time killing your whistle power making it even harder for you to get whistle points. compared to that the new system is makes it really easy just flag some abuse reviews simple as that.

I just reached Level 13, which is pretty good news i guess.

I've been on Newgrounds for well over 2 years now and at one time i wasn't doing anything on the site, including depositing. So i guess if i had deposited everyday then i would be a level ahead right now. But none the less, im happy i've reached a higher level.
