People need to wake up , because election 2000 is all over with . I do not see why people still reject G.W.B . He has not made any radical changes , he didn't take out any hostilities on the Chinese . GWB has been playing the fair game . During the election , Al Gore was just a sore looser , having all those dumb recounts costing the people of Florida money . And why would you hate GWB ? He is cutting taxes so people's money will be worth something when they do get a pay check . I'm pretty sure he will do a great job during his term , and probably be relected . What has he done to you?

One of Bush's daughters goes to UT Austin, where I go.

Please people, don't add another post if it's just repeating what I'm about to say.
I don't like GWB because:
1) Bush did not win the majority of votes
2) Some people finished counting the votes in Florida, even though the results didn't matter. It turns out Gore won Florida.
3) Bush originally tried to stop a plan to lower arsenic levels to repay the water companies who helped fund his campaign. He backed down ONLY after he got a lot of heat, and saw that everyone realized he was a corporate tool.
4) He wants to DRILL FOR OIL IN NATIONAL PARKS.
5) He supports the FTA (that's what the protests in Quebec are all about)
6) The tax cuts are his attempt to get popular support. And if anyone would look at the tax cuts, the rich people are screwing over the poor. It's extremely unfair. I can't believe you fell for it. Basically, he's paying you to like him.
7) He has a DUI conviction. HE DROVE DRUNK. If he had killed anyone, there is no way he would've been elected. But people turn a blind eye to this for some reason...
8) He's a moron. He says things that don't make sense, and he uses words that aren't words. I want a smart man in office.
Anything else to add? I'm sure everyone on this board will have something.

And? You don't run for president hoping to get the popular vote, you run to get the electoral college. Only a dumbass doesn't strategize to take the electoral college
2) Some people finished counting the votes in Florida, even though the results didn't matter. It turns out Gore won Florida.
Where the hell is this coming from? Bush won all 3 official times and the 2 times afterwards. What will push it through your tiny head that Bush WON???
3) Bush originally tried to stop a plan to lower arsenic levels to repay the water companies who helped fund his campaign. He backed down ONLY after he got a lot of heat, and saw that everyone realized he was a corporate tool.
There's no arsenic in your water or mine. Let the lawyers handle it if there is. Media hype only.
4) He wants to DRILL FOR OIL IN NATIONAL PARKS.
Fine, no one minds $2 a gallon for gasoline.
5) He supports the FTA (that's what the protests in Quebec are all about)
Do you even know what that is?

A wise man said (myself) that 'On the way to being the richest man in the world, you must first become the poorest.' The Rich are Rich because they WORKED FOR IT. Any one of us could work our asses off to get rich like Bill Gates, but we instead waste our time on who's rich and who isn't. If you want to get rich, get off your lazy ass and invent something that will appeal to the masses. Bill Gates didn't get rich by sitting in an office for 25 years and hitting 'destroy' on Microsoft's Monopolization Tour.
7) He has a DUI conviction. HE DROVE DRUNK. If he had killed anyone, there is no way he would've been elected. But people turn a blind eye to this for some reason.
No one's perfect. Al Gore hasn't bought stock in over 20 years and we want him in charge of the economy???
8) He's a moron. He says things that don't make sense, and he uses words that aren't words. I want a smart man in office.

You honestly think that any homeless man in this world can become rich if he just gets off his ass and invents something if he doesn't even have enough money to pay for a meal? Do you think that Bill Gates alone couldn't give hundreds of poor people a good home if he would just let them move in? The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. And I wonder how many rich people today actually earned their money through hard work, instead of inheriting it. I suppose you think it's okay for rich drug companies to make it impossible for poor people in third world countries to get medicine at a fair price all in order to make themselves even richer. I just can't comprehend that we live in a world where a man can own 50 different million dollar cars and there are mothers who can barely afford to feed their children.

I'm just explaining why people don't like him.
Where the hell is this coming from? Bush won all 3 official times and the 2 times afterwards. What will push it through your tiny head that Bush WON???
I know he WON, I just heard this on the news. They didn't make a big deal out of it. Yes, I know the media can be wrong, and I may be too, so I'll give up on this issue.
There's no arsenic in your water or mine. Let the lawyers handle it if there is. Media hype only.
YES THERE IS! It's 50 parts per billion, I believe. Clinton's plan called to lower it to 10 parts per billion. Bush wanted to cancel that plan.
Fine, no one minds $2 a gallon for gasoline.
I can't believe you'd put some of the few untainted lands left in America below your pocketbook, you bastard. And I mean that.
Do you even know what that is?
As a matter of fact I DO know what that is, I was just conveying that huge masses of people disagree with Bush. The whole point of this post was to explain why people don't like him. By the way, the Free Trade Agreement will increase sweatshops and pollution, according to protesters. According to GWB it will increase employment (of sweatshop workers).

Are you saying that working hard equals money? There are millions of factory workers who work harder than some Wall Street banker ever will, and they remain poor. It's not their fault they weren't blessed with the mental faculties to obtain an education, or the money to send them to college, or the determination to make something of themselves. Lazy, stupid, or ignorant, they're still people.
No one's perfect. Al Gore hasn't bought stock in over 20 years and we want him in charge of the economy???
You're trying to change the subject. DUIs are one of the worst crimes in society today.
Grammar errors = Dumbass? How shallow can you be?
Grammar errors or no grammar errors, he's still a corporate tool, anti-environmentalist, DUI convict, sweatshop endorsing leader of the free world. And you can't honestly look me in the face and say that he's an intelligent person.

Ok so maybe I do quote myself but at least my quotes are right. So if we inherit money, buy some stock with it and become rich you have worked harder than someone who has worked for $0.08 a hour for 16 hours a day for a year?

People aren't _born_ homeless. They had to get there. A local area station did a survey of homeless people, and 9 out of 10 of them had some sort of 'excuse' to get out of working hard (i.e.: 'oh, my back is broken, I can't lift anything more than 20 pounds) It's called laziness.
Do you think that Bill Gates alone couldn't give hundreds of poor people a good home if he would just let them move in?
He could, but why? Giving out free stuff to people who didn't deserve it?
The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.
True.
And I wonder how many rich people today actually earned their money through hard work, instead of inheriting it.
A vast majority. Bill Gates worked for his, the CEO of Oracle (his name escapes me at the moment), Warren Buffet are the richest men in America (well, not Buffett, actually) because they _worked_ for it. Bill Gates inherited nothing, the Oracle CEO guy inherited nothing, Buffet inherited nothing. They strategized and took the market. We shouldn't be money-nazis because they thought of something we didn't.
I suppose you think it's okay for rich drug companies to make it impossible for poor people in third world countries to get medicine at a fair price all in order to make themselves even richer.
That's an exaggeration if I've ever heard one. If medicine companies charge too much then no one will buy and the company will go under. Drugs are expensive to produce since they use such unique compositions. We can't have a double-standard, can we? People would fly to third-world countries to get drugs.
I just can't comprehend that we live in a world where a man can own 50 different million dollar cars and there are mothers who can barely afford to feed their children.
Because the man that has the $50 million car thought ahead of themselves. They set themselves on a goal to get there. If you're a single mother raising 3-4 children, then there are mistakes that you made in your life that have the consequence that they will. For example: if you sleep around with guys in high school and get pregnant, don't go running to the government for welfare. That was your mistake, not ours, we shouldn't have to pay for it. If the mother who can barely afford to feed her children can't handle it anymore, then she should put them up for adoption. There are couples that would do anything in the world for a child, and here are people who abort unborn children and just keep living hell to keep alive.
Actions and Consequences.

Don't you get it? In 60 years, people will be killing each other for the oil that remains on this planet. That's how much oil we have left. Whether we drill for it now or drill for it later is irrelevant, we're getting that oil. There is no chance that in 60 years, we are going to develop a popular alternative to the internal combustion engine (electric/hydrogen cars are too expensive and are too dangerous for commercial use at the moment, plus, it would not be cost-effective to refit every gas station with liquid nitrogen). In 60-70 years, we might be in another 'dark age'. It's not hurting my pocket book, I don't have a car, but if we keep avoiding using the environment, then we will get _nowhere_. Why do you think there's such an energy crisis in the western US? Every time companies would try to build a new power plant after deregulation, environmentalists would protest it. Well, they're feeling the burn now, aren't they? Call me a bastard. Fine. That's cool. I hope you don't mind if the government puts you in blackout for a month while trying to conserve energy.

Bush isn't for sweatshops. That's just propaganda. He's just for employment within the hemisphere and around the world. This is the 21st century, if you aren't on top of the game, then you are _behind_. And that's not something to brag about.

Hard work is required. Strategy is required. Bill Gates would make an excellent stock advisor, he knows his stuff. Yep, they're still people, that's why they make money. If this were truly a cruel society, they wouldn't have any jobs at all (not that I'm for taking away their jobs) I make about $5K a year and one day I'll be making more. Do I complain that Bill Gates is worth $60 billion and I'm not? No! Why should I? He earned it! I wasn't changing the subject. Yeah, he had a DUI, 25 years ago (or was it 30?). How the hell does it affect him now? How does it affect any of us? I don't know. I'm sure if I looked at your permanent record, we could all raise something to question your character, too. This is about character, so it's the same subject. Just like my comment that we shouldn't put Al Gore in charge of an economy even though he hasn't participated in stock trading in 20 years. It's part of his character. W's DUI looks like a last-minute attempt by Gore to get votes in comparison.

He is. He's been governor since 1994, he just beat you right there with experience. Let me tell you something, every time a volcano erupts, there is enough carbon dioxide spewn (?) through the atmosphere that it makes any pollution created by us pale in comparison. It's all part of an inevitable chain reaction. The planet warms up, the ice caps melt, the vapor is trapped in the northern and southern hemispheres, where it then precipitates onto those landscapes. Those areas then become so cool that it lasts through the summer and for many years. We have another ice age. We're not going to become Venus because of the greenhouse effect. I've already mentioned the others.

The threat of arsenic in our water is simple media hyped paranoia. Much like the Red Scare.
Except that it leads to higher cancer rates, and this has been established by the medical community.
Don't you get it? In 60 years, people will be killing each other for the oil that remains on this planet. That's how much oil we have left. Whether we drill for it now or drill for it later is irrelevant, we're getting that oil. You really are the most ignorant person I know. Think back 70 years. There are still horse drawn wagons. Combustion engines have just started to take over. Now go 20 years ahead of that. They say there's only 50 years of oil left in the earth. Another 20 years and they say the same thing. And another.
It's ignorant to say that in the future there will be no viable alternative. There ALREADY are electric cars with the same range as gas cars. And there's that one gas/electric hybrid car that gets 62 MPG. 62! You can't say that in 70 years that number won't go up.
Let's also not forget IT. It's supposed to be some kind of super-efficient engine. Technology that you don't even know about could somehow change the world overnight. It's ignorant to say it can't.
Bush isn't for sweatshops. That's just propaganda. He's just for employment within the hemisphere and around the world. This is the 21st century, if you aren't on top of the game, then you are _behind_. And that's not something to brag about.
Yes, he is for employment. But the only viable employment there is in third world countries is working in a sweatshop, or working for the drug cartels. Bush knows this.
Hard work is required. Strategy is required. Bill Gates would make an excellent stock advisor, he knows his stuff. Yep, they're still people, that's why they make money. Rich people don't necessarily work hard. You cannot keep saying that. People inherit it, people win it in the lotto, people are made heads of companies by their rich parents. Some people do work hard. But hard work itself does NOT mean money. Slaves work harder than anyone I'll ever know, yet they are the poorest.
I wasn't changing the subject. Yeah, he had a DUI, 25 years ago (or was it 30?). How the hell does it affect him now? How does it affect any of us? I don't know. So if he had raped someone 30 years ago, that should be forgiven too? And if you look at my permanent record, you will notice that I got a curfew ticket once. No traffic tickets, no arrests, no convictions.
He is. He's been governor since 1994, he just beat you right there with experience. Ah, but asthma rates and cancer rates will increase with increased pollution and heat. And if he was such a great governor, why is Texas 48th in literacy and last in the number of insured children?
Ha. You'd argue against W. because he has funny hair.
No I wouldn't. Way to judge me. I only argue that he is a poor person and a poor president. Again, way to judge me.

It's nice to see that the governor of the least literate state in America ran for president mainly on a platform of improving education.

People need to wake up , because election 2000 is all over with . I do not see why people still reject G.W.B .
First of all, when I woke up this morning, i was still in the USA and Mexico hadn't taken over yet. I think that if I can't at least elect my own president, then i damn well still have a right to criticize his rich white ass, whether my views are based in my reality or in yours. I seriously beleive it's the only right americans have left.
:He has not made any radical changes ,
Exactly. This country needs radical change. Look around you man! People are rioting in the streets over race relations; gangs rule the inner cities; and 20 percent of the nation's children live in poverty. I'm not even going to get into the whole health care thing.
:He is cutting taxes so people's money will be worth something when they do get a pay check .
Did you see the newsbyte where some analyst drove up to a press conference with a sports car and a muffler? I'll be able to afford that muffler with bush's precious tax cut. You'll be able to afford the whole damn car. Also, have you been following the whole trigger mechanism issue? it will be a miracle if that damn tax cut ever goes into affect, even if it does pass congress.
:I'm pretty sure he will do a great job during his term .
He has done nothing. He is a puppet president. I'm not sure who's running the country at the current moment, probably Dick Cheney. I do know that it's not "dubya"
On a side note, it's great to see intelligent debate here (not necessarily mine)..... keep it up.

Fist off... happy 100th post to me! Secondly, if you haven't noticed... Bush is a moron! I like to think of my self as the loudest voice in the anti-Bush demostration, but that's just me... he is so arrogent that he supports the death penalty yet wants to make abortion illegal! If he's so "ProLife" then how come Texas has the highest Death Penalty rating in the nation!? Third, (and I'll say it again) the election was RIGGED!!!!! If it wasn't then it was ment to be! How come Black citizens in Florida were kept from the polls!? What about the fact they found mysterious "lost votes" that were in favor of Bush!? How come the man who first announced Bush the winner of the election was his third cousin who works for Fox News!? Fourth... he is jus damned stupid! He talks about how "If a child can read, then they can past a literacy test." He makes common sense sound "revolutionary" (and I use that term loosely). Plus, he has a drunk driving record, and wants to put drug users away for years! The final word is just 'cuz he's our president, doesn't mean we have to like him.(Just ask Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon).

Nope, Bush won by 1,333 votes or something like that. The ones that proclaimed Gore the winner automatically made all of the overvotes votes for Gore.
3) Bush originally tried to stop a plan to lower arsenic levels to repay the water companies who helped fund his campaign. He backed down ONLY after he got a lot of heat, and saw that everyone realized he was a corporate tool.
You forgot something. George W. Bush is Republican. Republicans want an economy that is less regulated. (Which is why the DOJ is no longer the Government's pitbull.)
4) He wants to DRILL FOR OIL IN NATIONAL PARKS.
Which has been done before.
5) He supports the FTA (that's what the protests in Quebec are all about)
The people who are against free trade are idjits. End of story.
6) The tax cuts are his attempt to get popular support. And if anyone would look at the tax cuts, the rich people are screwing over the poor. It's extremely unfair. I can't believe you fell for it. Basically, he's paying you to like him.
Both candidates wanted tax cuts. The different is:
Gore's tax cut was smaller, and went mostly to the people in the bottom 50%. Most of which PAY NO TAXES AT ALL. Gore's plan means: Same amount of money for the Government, while boosting his popularity.
Also, it should be noted that by proportion, the lower brackets recieve a bigger tax cut that the ones in the higher bracket.
7) He has a DUI conviction. HE DROVE DRUNK. If he had killed anyone, there is no way he would've been elected. But people turn a blind eye to this for some reason...
Woohoo, big deal. Things change.
8) He's a moron. He says things that don't make sense, and he uses words that aren't words. I want a smart man in office.
Dyslexia.
Anything else to add? I'm sure everyone on this board will have something.

You forget that not everyone who belives in a party belives in all of their views

So basically a win-win situation!

I am in that bottom 50% and I pay taxes out the ass. the equivalent of two full pays went to the fucking man because i, as the american tax payer making less than 20,000 a year have to fund the government. If you ask me, Bill Gates can afford it a hell of a lot easier than i can.

what planet are you on? the biggest tax cut, proportionately, when to the richest 15%.

I agree with Bugger. This is one of the dumbest excuses I've ever heard in order to explain a politician's behaviour. This excuse is so dumb that I'm going to make a rather emotionally charged posting about it tomorrow...

However, making the argument that one is unintelligent based on dialect is worse.
