Firing a gun under water is the same as having a gun fired right next to your head. The water is dense.

Ok then. Try it out please.

Bang sticks and powerheads are better!

no you can not fire a gun under water if it uses gunpowder, spear guns work cuz they use spirngs.
gunpowder based ammo can be used underwater. the case is sealed tightly and by the time water can get to it, the gunpowder has already been used.
as for large rifles and things like taht which are gas operated, they cant fire underwater very vell. well, you can fire it, but youll get your ass fucked up for doing so.

I've already answered why most firearms can't be fired underwater (Check the last posts on page one).

the best part of this thread is all the people who have most likly never even heald a real gun...or spear gun.... making statements as if they are fact that they have in actuality just pulled out of their asses.....

Yeah, I realised how many people who posted 'facts' that they've got from the place you said.
If you don't know, don't try to play expert.

I don't think it will work on THAT!

hahahahahahah, that made me laugh. Maybe they have to shoot things that piss them off underwater? like bears and lions
"What is a joke exactly?"

No, he used a rifle in Jaws.
Would the bullet do as much damage underwater then it would on land?
I am a new terror born in death, a new superstition entering the unassailable fortress of forever. I am legend.
Im not sure cause in da video games if u go underwater and u hit the shoot button it dosent unless its a speargun

Uh, movie, fiction, etc.

Wow... just wow. Just because a video game dows it does not mean its true, people. Just because You can fire the pistol in Half Life doesn't make you an expert on the subject. Basicly, it depends, but if you want me to explain in detail I can. Just keep in mind I am not a master in termonalogy, so I won't know all the item names.
Hahahahahaha, LiveCorpse is dead. Good Riddance.
guns do work underwater its just that you need to have the right type of gun or else the bullet will stop right when it goes into the water, if you had something like a spear gun then it would work

Let's see how they do with only one life and REAL bullets!
At 8/9/05 04:46 PM, X_Lopez_X wrote: can a gun fire underwater?
Yes. Its common to think that gunpowder "explodes" but all it really does is burn up extremely fast, creating a high amount of pressure that launches the bullet at high velocity from the chamber. So yes, it is very possible to shoot a gun underwater.

you can fire as long as there is a source of oxygen and a way to ignite it (ammo, etc.)
movies arent ever really that accurate
look at an overlooked example, Happy Gilmore...
that one guy (who always said "jackass") rammed his old volkswagon beetle into the TV tower,
promtly after that the front of the car burst into flames
the funny thing is that in that kind of car, the engine is in the back.
just something to think about,

lolz, i wouldnt do it, in fear of damaging the gun.
