Buddy, you're asking the question everyone asks themselves when they have their songs crapped on in the Audio Portal. Just be patient, things happen slowly here, hehe.
Btw, I'm going to go check out your music. I'm like Bounce, nice and all, but not as cool because I'm not swedish.
Damn swedes :-/

To be honest, its because the majority of visitors on NG couldnt give a flying arse about the audio portal. There are no rewards for protecting or blaming tracks (not that it can be done) and the people who do vote are either other musicians who vote fairly on what you've done, or people who are below you in the charts so give you a 0 to get above.
Personaly, whenever i submit, i always go and vote and review as many tracks as i possibly can. If everybody did this, we'd have a more friendly community where good work is recognised more, and with less 0 voting retards, but i have a lot of spare time on my hands because music is all I do.

I agree. I take music very seriously. I have been playing guitar for 7 years, and I love making music. But the thing is, (like you stated earlier) people don't care. I think that we need to just vote fairly and just hope that the others are mature enough to vote honestly. Oh well, I have fun making it and I just hope others can enjoy listening to it.

Thing is, music on NG is premoted as a suppliment for flash artists, not as another kind of submission for the viewers to see.
I dream of a day when audio shows up on the front page par with flash.

Well that sucks, alot. I am more interested in Audio than I am in flash. Sure I watch it, and would like to be as good at it as some of the others in the portal, but my true passion is music. But oh well...such is life...

Its got to a point that you can ignor the top 5 of the week, because at least 3 of them cheated to get there by getting loads of friends to vote 5 (I mean loads as in say 3) and voting 0 on all the competition. The top 50 lists are useless because new tracks get put at the top and stay there until more than one person votes, and tracks that havnt been voted on stay at the bottem, and nobody ever looks there to pick them up.
The way i've managed to keep up reviews and votes is by regulaly creating tracks, at one point i was posting one every 3 days. Its sort of like bumping a forum thread. People listen to the top one, like it, listen to the rest, hopefully voting and reviewing.
Don't be discouraged if one or more of your tracks gets a rating of 2 with no reviews. Reviews are the important thing, and since there arnt nearly as many n00bs on the AP as there are in flash, 'omfg j00 suck g0 kill yerself' reviews are extremely rare.
Another hint, respond to your reviews. sit there refreshing the page every few mins until you get one if you must. People like posting reviews if they know they're going to get an awnser, it means they can sneak in questions like 'omfg h0w 2 m4ke muzik lolz' and get away with it.

Yea, I've responded to EVERY review as soon as I see it. I also, try to stay on top of creating new tracks, but with work, girlfriend, and friends it's kind of hard. But so far in less than a week, I have submitted I believe 8 or 9. So it's not too bad. But I haven't voted on any of my submissions because I wanted to see just what people thought. So should I vote on my own submissions?

I normally put girlfriend, work and friends aside to make tracks. They understand its what i do and how i express myself. Well, not really. but they couldnt care less either way ;).
Most of my tracks take between 2 to 7 hours to make. my latest one, 'Your quest is over' took about 12 hours. I dont know why or how i managed to spend so long on it, and i managed to get one review from sombody who had their speakers up so loud they were hissing. Newgrounds is the only place i put my music on the net, but i do send it to many people through other means. I'm thinking of publishing a CD one of these days.. but i'm not sure what people would think.
It is kind of upsetting to submit a track that you've spent hours on to get two reviews and one guy voting 2 as a joke, but to get more popularity, you have to make more tracks, and thats what fuels me.
Damn, i need to write a book or somthing.
