Yep, they were suppose to build an all modern new school but something cocked up at the last minute and the money got pulled.

Yeah thats another thing, religion is just a scam to obtain money. I remember when people put money into the baskets that went around in church at one point when I used to go when I was little. That money probably goes toward funding for the catholic preist childrens strip club or their childporn websites, lmao.

I'm going to leave my religious/nonreligious perspectives at the door here, because I feel like asking you guys some questions.

1. Why do some of you always assume someone is unintelligent when they believe in God? Please give me a clear and concise answer on this, outside of "LOL GOD IS NAT REAL THEY DUM!"
2. Why is it that I am constantly ridiculed for my beliefs, yet am referred to as "oppressive"(I couldn't honestly care more if someone shared my views) when the subject of religion is brought up, and I state my beliefs(No, I don't try to convert people or force them to accept my view as the only correct one)?
3. Why(looking at this club every now and then) do you(not as a group, only certain members) seem to hate religion with a passion when all major religions promote peacefulness and loving others?

Not trying to insult you guys, I'd just like to have answers from a third perspective.

Well, this is usually Earfetishes area of expertise, but I'll give it a shot. We don't think they're all around unintelligent just because they believe in something we dont, we basically just talk about how dumb religion is not how the people in it are dumb (except for the catholic preist because of the molestations they've done before and the what you call overly religious people who try to convert and forve us to believe) but yeah we just think the beliefs are dumb not the people (most of them anyway), I've said this many times before I dont just go around denouncing god to religious people, whatever you want to believe go ahead and believe, whatever makes you happy. I keep my opinions on religion in this thread not anywhere outside this thread unless I discuss it face to face with another atheist. You're number 2 question, well if you are ridiculed for your beliefs its because you're telling it to the wrong crowd, us atheist dont care about you're beliefs because we dont believe in them nor other people of a different religion will care about your religions beliefs. Your 3rd question, well I wouldnt say I hate religion, well I do and dont. I hate how some religions cause war among countries and how preists molested little kids. I dont really hate religious beliefs I just think they're too mythological to believe. Well thats pretty much all of my answers I have, hopefully it answered your questions and thank you so much for not being a complete dickhead like most religious people that come in here *cough* Baltoboy *cough* so yeah anyway if you have any more questions feel free to ask some more in a respectable manner like you just did.

Ok. At least you don't act like some people over religion do(Like that guy you mentioned and Earfetish in the General forum).

Hey anytime man, like I said although I'm an atheist I respect other peoples religious beliefs, but if someone uses their religious beliefs to try to metally force me into believing religion well then I have to mentally defend myself against them, I'm not going to stand back and take it. The only religious beliefs I dont respect is the West Borough Baptist Church, they're fucking idiots I mean seriously do you agree?

Well...You're assuming that every atheist does that. Which I could easily mention that religious people always say "Lol atheists are dumb cous they got no morals" which they all 3 statements are untrue. It all depends on who you are talking to when discussing religion.

That may just be due to the area you're living in. I've never been called opressive and neither has any of my religious friends.

3. Why(looking at this club every now and then) do you(not as a group, only certain members) seem to hate religion with a passion when all major religions promote peacefulness and loving others?

We don't hate religion. We just become rather aggressive when religious people come here and tell us our beliefs are wrong and we're going to burn in hell. Which they don't seem to grasp: We don't care. But I'd think you're a little out of line to say religion is peacefulness and loving, ever read the old testiment? Hell nearly all major religions say that if someone believes differently to what you do or tries to convert you, you must kill them. Religion is (sometimes) full of death, homosexuality, suffering, racism, sexism etc. It all depends on what you believe in and whether you want to follow it.

Not trying to insult you guys, I'd just like to have answers from a third perspective.

Answered, but unless you ask every atheist on Earth you wont get a definate answer.

Oh yeah sorry for the double post but I forgot to mention, about the statement that religion encourages love and peace, we believe you dont need religion to do that, your good intention of morals should encourage you to do that, not religion. That's what I believe as well as most atheist. Earfetish seems like a pretty smart guy, I dont think he goes around denouncing god.... at least I think he dont, but anyway the only thing that an atheist would actually follow in the bible if he or she chooses is the morals because they're good to follow in life and because they're not really religious beliefs they're more of positive psychological expectations that you should live by as an individual, but everything else, no we dont follow.

i might as well ask it here too:

1. Do atheists believe in ghosts?

2. if someone posts a video or image on the internet for proof of the existence of ghosts, and lets say hypothetically the ghost was real. do you think anyone would actually believe it?

we'd be as likely to believe it as any objective viewer. It depends what the video contained.

You couldn't post us some verses from the Qu'ran that say 'treat unbelievers and polytheists nicely', could you?

Like I said in the thread, haven't given it much thought. Don't care if they do exist.

Probably not, not due to believing or disbelieving in ghosts but it's so easy to make false video's and images of ghosts these days and pass them off as genuine.

Indeed; if I'm being foolishly skeptical by not thinking every ghost video I see is the real deal under the pretence that one of them might be and ghosts might exist, then I must be foolish. It would have to be a video that experts in that particular field thought wasn't fake, especially if the ghost had observable effects on its surroundings and I could test the ghost too.

I challenge you to find any evidence of me acting like a dick to religious people or claiming the religious are stupid. Seriously. I've been told I do it, but I'd love to see it, because honestly, I don't think I do.

There's no such thing as ghost, notice that the only ghost proof are from cameras, but not with the naked eye, thats because its called light reflections or just an edited photo to make it look like a ghost.

Most of the photos are of a dumb white orb thing. The thing looks like a ball of light, and yet we're supposed to believe it's a ghost? Bah! There's also the "recordings" where it's all a bunch of static, and yet the white noise is supposed to be evidence of ghosts... it's hilarious.

Yeah I know, like Earfetish said, anyone can pass on a photo like that as a ghost picture.

Well no one here said they believe in ghosts. But some atheists do believe in ghosts due to past experience, or they don't feel it has anything to do with God.

Because the existence of ghosts, just like God, is unexplainable to science, is why I asked this question.

As is the existence of fairies. What ghosts and God have in similar is, loads of people believe in something with no decent supporting evidence; I've even 'seen' a 'ghost', but it's unconvincing. Loads of things are 'unexplainable by science' like Quantum Physics but I still believe in them because there's at least some supporting evidence.
