I'm not Christian, but really, it keeps many people from attempting things that would have a negative effect on soceity.

Not so stupid, it's mainly the illogical things that are scientifically impossible that people take too seriously instead of following the simple moral standards.

Ever heard of David Koresh, Al Qaida, Jim Jones? If so, you'll see how your argument holds no water. Most of our laws and privileges break the 10 commandments, so really, religion is more a personal thing, and has no value in politics, or society. It only has perpous, personally, to individuals of said belief.

I don't get why people even ask. People post anyway. Asking doesn't make it anymore official. I mean think about it, the only priviledge of joining is posting in the group, which you can already do anyway. So, really, as long as you're not spamming the group, if you just post in it, you're technically already a member if you think about it.

I've never been a fan of democrats or republicans... then again, I've never been a fan of democracy in general either.

LOL, fiberals. I hate liberals. I mean, they're so one sided. What I hate even more, however, is liberal media. Politically correct? My ass. If the founding fathers wanted everything to be politically correct, they wouldn't have made freedom of speech.

I'm more libertarian. But mainly because after all that's happened in the world today, I don't think anarchy would work, so I'm going for the next best thing. I support a libertarian/secular government and society.

I don't think it's the religion itself that's making people intolerant, it's just the people who fails at thinking for themselves. A lot of christians do, luckily, and wont opress or prejudice other peoples beliefs. Then there's the people who fully abide to the words of the bible (a.k.a. bible thumper) who doesn't think further than "if God says so, then it must be true and rightful. And i won't go to hell."

Here is my concern with Atheism. As with most "-ism" groups.

While you leave churches and separate yourself from the cluttered masses of religious people, you form your own organizations and cluttered masses. Granted, Atheists tend to have a bit more education under their belts, but they tend to be just as arrogant in attacking religion as religion is about defending it.

I am far from religion, but I rarely call myself an Atheist. I take my opinion of that word from a book, which basically said that if I was to tell you I did not believe in a Pink Unicorn, would you make up a name to group me? No. You would think I was normal, because I didn't believe in a Pink Unicorn. No name would be needed to classify me, not "Un-Believer in Unicorns" or any nonsense, I would simply be a person.

And so I rarely take kindly to being called an Atheist, because I feel that it only creates another group that excludes, divides, and attacks the motivation of man. I have found hostile atheists and Christians.

I am far from a believer. I have spent hours talking with people, I don't like to spit on peoples' beliefs no matter what spaghetti monster they believe in, I try to at least show them my opinion, understand theirs, and when it boils down to "I believe it because I have faith, you have no faith and will burn in Hell" I pack up my bags and move on.

So, to this club, I pose the question: "How do you feel about the word Atheist?"

kind of ironic that through history there's been so much killing in the name of Christianity but the most violence Jesus is ever recorded to have dealt was throwing the market people out of the temple out of righteous indignance at the situation. i.e. people kill in his name but he never told them to.
