If you start a collab and drop out, the thread will be locked.
If you don't have a batting average of at least 3.0, the thread will be locked.
If the last two pages of the collab contain a minimal amount of material relating to the collab, the thread will be locked.
If a collab thread becomes a flame war, the thread will be locked.
If you don't provide a decent amount of detail/information in the first post of a collab thread, the thread will be locked.
If the collab has already been done before, the thread will be locked.
If the collab has lost all impetus and shows no signs of being completed, the thread will be locked.

If you complain about a collab thread being locked, you will be banned.

If you want to run a collab but not abide by the above, then do it at http://www.ngcollabs.com/

that needs to be a bit looser, for instance if its just a basic song collab, but theres a difference, it should be given a chance, maybe depending on wether the author is a good submitter etc.

That's a decision for the individual mod to make. In my book, the fact that a collab is based on a song is not reason enough to lock it. However, combine this with some of the other 'infractions', and it will be locked.
I'm aware that my e-popularity (LMFAO) is going to plummet as a result of this, but the situation is getting out of hand, and requires some new rules laying down. IMO, the Flash forum should be more orientated towards answering Flash questions, whether about basic stuff, animating, or AS. There IS a place for collab threads, but when they're dominating the first page of the forum, that's the time to send them elsewhere.

So hypothetically I could restart my "Heroes of Nintendo Collab" if I could prove that it is different from other collabs that have been done before? Because lan00 gave it to me and I understand why it wa locked. BTW I have the required Batting Average.

May I commet that you should just 'have' a batting average to qualify.
Some people just don't have the time/patience/skills to make their own flash to a high standard.

Size of the Flash 300 x 400
And song/music playing
Number of people wanted
How the credits will go (co-authors, buddies)
etc

I checked out the link in GG's sig to the ol'scoo BBS and it amazed me how clean the flash forum was once upon a time, not full of all these fucking inbred collabs. They need to be sorted out.

Yes, you could. But it would be preferable if you could take it to http://www.ngcollabs.com/. If we could get all of the kind of people that start/join collabs over there, it would be a thriving sub-community by itself, and it would cease to be a problem in NG's Flash forum. However, if you want to restart it in here, I personally won't lock it.

I understand what your saying, but is it possible to start a thread like "Where'd our Collab Go?" to link some of the locked collabs to there new location? Or would that not be allowed.

Denvish, is there any chance you'll be nice enough to modulize the collabs, like have a list of the current collabs on NGCOLLABS? it might help since people will take their collabs to NGCollabs since they'll get the same exposure

Well... that was part of the purpose of this thread. Problem is, threads tend to move down the page pretty fast in here, so it would require regular bumps to be seen, which isn't a good thing. I'll try to remember to post a link to http://www.ngcollabs.com whenever I lock one in the future, and I'll ask the other Flash mods to do the same.

Or even redirect that forum to www.ngcollabs.com, because it was created by Newgrounders...

I agree with all the rules completely except for batting average of 3. I mean, I know I'm a good author, I have 2 awards, but my damn average is only 2.7-2.80. I think that 3 is a little unfair... :-/

That's a tricky one. I guess awards should count towards qualifications, so I suppose the BA rule could be bent in certain circumstances. However, there's nothing preventing you from doing it on the NG Collabs site.

that wouldnt help, if i see a link in someones sig i usually just blank it thinking its there site so its not gunna get much attention that way. the only way would be something like a sticky at the top of the flash forum page, or something that really caught your eye, or even maybe (just for the flash section) having a "creating a collab?" message at the top that would link here, or something like that.
