whats the best program to use for making, mixing and editing music and whats the best for just making misc sounds

Industry favourite for mixing - Cubase.
My personal favourite - Acid Pro.

Editing individual sounds - Wavelab, soundforge, cool edit pro.

Best for making just misc sounds, like weird noises? Acid pro + some vst
Reason.

All of these do not come cheap, cheaper than a top quality "real instrument tho" with more functions available.
