It's updated on the first day of each month, and the elections begin on the 24th of each month previous to the update.

Ahh Haggard, I always feel so guilty when passing you. Still, I haven't passed you yet, and I'm not sure if I will in time for the next update of the regulars list... we'll see.

No need to feel guilty. If you are better/faster/"more regular" than me, there's really no need for you to feel guilty. ;)
Besides, my time will come when you stop B/Ping one day... :P

Ah well. I'm still rooting for you in your B/P rivalry against simon :P

That's true... getting onto the 2,000 point rank gaps is really a pain in the ass. It takes a long time to rank up, and motivation is temperamental at best. Still, gotta stick it out to get to Supreme Commander.

I've only just been added to the regulars list, but I can imagine how great it must feel to be voted onto the member list.
It's fucking awesome. However, it depends when we're going to have another election. I don't want to sound impatient, but we could do with another one very soon.

Don't look at me, I got like 0.5% interest in August when I floated the nominations request out.... and after the 10-day job I just pulled to get the pentalist update done, I AIN'T WORKING ON TEH WI/HT?S AGAIN FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS AND MONTHS.

Yeah. So ask Recon to hold an election if you want one so bad. #;-}>

At 3/12/08 11:16 PM, gfoxcook wrote: NO FILES? Oh noe.
At least I didn't have to search for hundreds of users. I just had to look at the October update and Frostbreath's news post to get all the needed info. That was enough for me to have all the correct text for the March 2008 update. :D

Hundreds of users, eh? I resemble that comment, I suppose. #;-}>

If I didn't have my old pentalist spreadsheet file, I WOULD NOT BE DOING THIS UPDATE I'm working on. Trust me on that one.
Damn! 0__0

But don't worry, I had it... I have it.... and I will continue to have it.

We could always balance it out. So like a quarter of our BBS time, we'd post in the General forum, and then 3/4 in the Wi/Ht? and other forums.

Ugh. Too much General.

Well, by having more mature users in the General, it would make Wade happy, referring to this news thread. I hope Wade still wishes the General to have more "intelligent, mature, and interesting topics and posts!"

Perhaps. But we'd have to find a way to attract even more users who are teh matures to General so as to not have too big a burden on each of our shoulders.

There'd still be a flood of teh crappy General posters even with us there, in short.
Which is why we'll try and form an army...Sometime.

A SEVEN-NATION ARMY, PERCHANCE?

So... Better to just make Wi/Ht? as good as it can be.
Improving the General forum would make me post much more. :)

Bleh.

Yeah, I had realised that, since it was Thursday night when I hit 10k. I knew you had your M/F internshipnesses, so I figured you won't be on again till Friday. No rush, though. #-}>
Umm, what do you mean by M/F? :S

Monday/Friday? Didn't you say those were the days you have yer "work experience"? So I was mindful of that late Thursday when I was saying something about you missing my 10k posts thanks to your gaming. #;-}>

BTW Haggard, Cider > Beer. XP
Which is something you and Coop agree on, IIRC.
I think it was Coop, but I'm not too sure.

Coop's always talking about his cider preference over beer. Just like his tea preference over coffee. That blighter.

...

I've got a better idea on what to do to the General forum.

Good, but not as good as my suggestion, I'm afraid.

Brilliant, isn't it?

No, it's not... Dude... Big red locked General forum with nice open-for-business Wi/Ht? right underneath it = FLOOD OF NOOBS INTO LEVEL UP AND OTHER TOPICS HERE. Hell no. ;_;

"I hereby claim this BBS in the name of sensible users everywhere! Come out of your hiding places, guys, the coast is clear now!"

One day... One day.

THAT'S IT. NOW YOU'VE GOT IT.

My gf and I always see construction zones/demolition of big buildings like movie theatres and hospitals and the like... and call them "post-apocalyptic."

Thinking of a post-apoc General... brings some warmth to my e-heart. (sniff)

*looks up from glass of Pear Cider* What?

See, silly dragon?

Now there's only one problem there - the masses would mill around and get into trouble trying to invade out green and plesant land. Keep them there in the ghetto, where we can keep them caged until they show signs of maturity and we can encourage these mature urgings.

That was exactly my thought. I can't believe that silly dragon thought it was a brilliant idea to just lock down General without some sort of escape valve that doesn't go through Wi/Ht? and other innocent forums. ;_;

Well you're the only dragon I know. Just make sure you 'surprise' people who wouldn't be missed were they, for example, to be eaten by a large blue dragon...

They should also have the right to surprise buttsex people.

lmao
Thankfully, due to your initiative, we don't have to even contemplate that alternate reality :P

Which makes me really proud to keep up and improve my contributions to this forum. :)

Heh, it's a nice feeling to get achievements that you thought you'd never reach. 10k achievements are especially nice - I'm looking forward to getting 10k posts, and I'm very close to 10k saves now.

And you're not the guy who really cares about post count. But yes, it's a great feeling to make those achievements.

What is the criteria for being a Wi/Ht? member? Is there anything special you have to do, or is it just a recognition of a large contribution to the Wi/Ht? over time?

It depends on what the other Wi/Ht? members think (the ones who can vote for the next election, that is). Yes, it could be something special you do on this forum, it could be a recognition of a large contribution to this forum over time, or it could be a bit of both.

No, precisely. I try to post in General at least a few times a day, but it's so hard to find anything that's worth replying to. At least the Wi/Ht? and C&C forums, despite being slower than General, always have some quality threads to post in.

I always try to find something on the first page in the General forum, but it's hard to find something good to post to. I was about to post in a thread about Futurama and suicide booths, but realised that there were idiots posting in that thread. One said "Futurama has jokes?" and I thought "Fuck it."

I know a few alts of KK members have been permabanned. Obviously it's not an official permaban, but rather a constantly-renewed 30-day ban.

I don't know any permabanned users, except for possibly koreaman who hasn't posted for years now, which is a shame considering he was the funniest alt ever. The only ones who have made me laugh almost as much (alt or not, I don't care) since are hardyboyz1 and RobbieGagg. Still, I highly recommend the BBS mods to permaban users who either:

a - Have been a complete nuisance for years.
b - Attack people's nationalities (e.g. hating British people for stupid reasons).

Bleh.

Seriously, it would. The General forum was so great back in 2005 IMO. 2006 was when I thought it was declining and then 2007, it was absolutely shite. And for 2008, I dunno.

Umm, what do you mean by M/F? :S

Yeah, those are the days where I do work experience, but this Friday and a week tomorrow, I won't need to go to work. :D

Damn Coop's hatred towards coffee.

OK then, what about moving the Flash forum above the Wi/Ht? like it should be? I'm pretty sure more users would be asking for help in the Flash forum rather than Wi/Ht?.

Whenever people mention the 1,000 or 1,500 rank gaps now, I feel the same way. The 2,000 point gaps are the first I've actually started to have trouble motivating myself on. Still, I'm only on the first one, and once I get to Brigadier General, it'll be the start of the final leg up to Supreme Commander.

I'm keeping my eye on the ultimate prize :)

Well, I don't care that much about the gaps. My big goal is to reach 30,000 B/P, so I need 15k more B/P. That's all I care about. I don't care if it takes 1,500 B/P or 2,000 B/P or 4,500 B/P to the next level.
This sure helps the motivation to carry on B/Ping ^^.

The voting election for April 2008 has begun!!

Just like on the previous election, the voting election has started earlier than it should have been due to other stuff happening right now. So the Easter bunny has come around to see all the Wi/Ht? Regulars and giving them some extra time to make their votes. ;) It's only 7 hours more (or 11/12 hours if I was to do this on midnight EST), but hey, why complain?

The real reason why I've started the election in the middle of the day is because later tonight, I'm very unlikely to be on the computer at midnight (or 8PM for NG time, curse foreign daylight saving) since my sister and her boyfriend are here for Easter and I have been doing stuff with them. Of course, this means giving up some time on the computer, but I don't mind that at all. We've been watching Father Ted on the digital On Demand and yesterday, bought Guitar Hero III for the Wii, which is tons of fun.

So regulars, start voting!

I really glad this list is back up and running. I suppose I haven't replied till now because I was pretty inactive around the time of the last update. And thought it was a bit silly to give me two cents a week and a half on from the actually update. So I never congratulated Haggard, life or NEVR on getting onto the list either here or in the LUL. You deeply deserve to be on there :D

And Bahamut actually doing the list is pretty cool, couldn't have a better person.

The hardest thing about law is: Understanding the language those guys are speaking! It may seem like everyday speech at first glance, but in reality it's very complicated! ^^

DING DING DING. Good to see someone besides myself is finding out that Wii + Guitar Hero 3 = less Wi/Ht? posting. It's a formula I know QUITE well due to last November and December being filled with tons of Guitar Hero 3 for me. #;-}>

Well, RedCircle would be a greater person at doing these lists since he was the founder of the Regulars List, but sadly, he's hardly on NG now. :( Oh well, at least I have the determination to run this list.

Actually, Guitar Hero hasn't slowed down my Wi/Ht? postings one bit. All it has done is slowed down my B/P pace a little and less time on Flash. For last night and the night before, I spent no more than 2 hours on the game.

Yeah, it's going to be a very welcome challenge. My gap year has kinda fallen apart due to some family problems, so I never got to go traveling, and I've just been helping out in my family, or else sitting on my ass doing next to nothing. It really hasn't turned out the way I planned, but at least now I have something really demanding to look forward to - a welcome change of pace.

I did one of those aptitude tests when I was still in school, and I don't think they're very accurate. All I remember of it was the same type of question being answered over and over again in a different way. Quite often I'd come across a question which was in essence exactly the same as one of the previous ones, albeit phrased slightly differently.

Indeed, but in light of the fact that RedCircle is barely around these days, I think you are the obvious choice. You and Coop are the two behemoths of the Wi/Ht IMO, and considering Coop is already in charge of 2 lists (or is it 3 now?), there was only one person who could bring this list back from the dead... :P

Heh, just like when I just became a regular. Voting for the first time on the updates felt great for me. :)

I think it's the novelty of it. Kinda like the novelty of doing the monthly voting once you become part of the top 2,000 active EXP users. I remember the first time that I saw the message "Monthly Voting time!" in my account options... I was so excited.

That's one of the things that intimidated me about university: The amount of time you need to spend on your course.

I think most courses aren't that bad. There's just the few exceptional beasts, like Medicine, Law, Engineering, and English. I think those are supposed to be the most demanding ones.

Few lists are being done now by the person who started them, so....

I mean, you've got Coop doing the saves list when I started it. No one doing the blam list that I started. Life doing the EGRL that Dogma started. Wylo doing the Top VP List that CaptainBob started (and Newgrundling and myself popularised).... and soon, perhaps you doing the pentalist that I started. So.... you doing this list is just yet another example of the fine tradition of carrying on the lists of others.

Well, you're used to spending a lot of time on NG both posting AND b/ping, so you had two sources of time to divert elsewhere. Whereas I was JUST posting on NG in 2007 for the most part, meaning posting is what had to suffer when I got heavy into my Wii at the end of August. #;-}>

True, I guess he moved on from NG, just like so many other older users do. It's sad, but a once in a while visit to this forum from these people would be swell. Also, I wouldn't say I was the obvious choice to take over this list considering I was never a stat list updater until I talked about reviving the Regulars List.

Behemoths? lol. Here's something that's said on Wikipedia regarding Behemoth:

The Arabic behemoth is known by the name Bahamut.

And then I read this:

In Russian, behemoth means hippopotamus.

That would explain Ozcar's obsession with Bahamut = hippo ages ago. It was a very very short-running gag between me, Ozcar and others.

When I play games or watching something on DVD, I usually go off the downstairs computer at around 9:00 - 10:30PM and go upstairs and do what I want to do, so I've got a good organisation on when I go upstairs. However, if I really want to concentrate on Flash, then I'll stay downstairs. Tonight, however, I'll want to play on Guitar Hero III.

Everyone has to start somewhere I guess. I'm working on the Elite Guard Barracks roster with Sterockicy now, and it's given me a good taste of the ins and outs of stat lists. Despite the fact that the last 2 rosters I did for the EGB were totally manual jobs (calculations, data entry, and HTML all done myself), I quite like doing it. Perhaps one day there will be a chance for me to take over one of the Wi/Ht? stat lists - that would be cool.

Behemoths? lol. Here's something that's said on Wikipedia regarding Behemoth:

COINCIDENCE?!

Heh, BlueBehemoth.

And what about Software Engineering? I was considering taking that course up until I found out how terrible I was in A2 Computing.

I don't know about software engineering, really. It sounds fairly demanding, but let's be honest, even in all these demanding courses, there's still plenty of time for social lives and going out. I know a lot of people who are currently studying medicine and law who have a great social life, so at least it's not entirely overwhelming - there are avenues of escape from the workload and stress.

Too much <3...

What do lists have to do with NEVR's statement than you and Coop are teh behemoths of Wi/Ht? I don't think he meant in terms of list-creation or updating, I think he meant in terms of being kick-ass regulars around here for some time, for holding down the fort, and so forth.

If he meant BEST LIST MAKERERS, he would have said gfox is teh behemoth of Wi/Ht?, after all, natch. #;-}> Even WITH my lists all being retired by myself, at least, now. That's how good I was/am. Yeah, boy-eeee.

The Arabic behemoth is known by the name Bahamut.
Ah, so that's where they got the name for FFs.
No, they got the name Bahamut from Dungeons & Dragons.

Well... so THAT's where D&D got the name for Bahamuts, then.

Yeah, that was it. That was during the time when I was one of the biggest targets for the Star Syndicate.

You were? In flashes or on the BBS?

GET A ROOM!
We already have a room. ;P

GET ANOTHER ROOM.

Go mess around in my pentalist topic, it needs more traffic, goddamnit. It could use the use. DON'T EVEN WORRY ABOUT THE SHEETS, FUCK WASHING THEM.

I have already. The fingers don't hurt so much like they did on the first day playing on GH3.

Your seating is way more important than almost anything else, BTW.

Sure, how you hold the neck of the guitar in your left hand (assuming you're right-handed, of course) is a factor... you need to not wrap your thumb around towards the frets, but keep it in a non-strained position along the back of the neck and all...

but more important than that is your posture. If you lean back in a comfy chair or couch and try to play while reclined, IMO your hands with both cramp up a lot faster.

Sit upright, or even foward a bit on the edge of a chair, sofa, stool, etc..... or stand. Best for teh fingers, hands, and arms to not get teh tired.

They were still awesome.

I didn't even say who I would vote for if I could vote, though. How could teh votes be awesome? #;-}>

Uh... did I miss that, or were you just exaggerating? #;-}>

You mean like Dogma and Denvish and Figmentum and RedCircle all paid a little visit around the same time last year? Cause I vaguely remember something like that happening.

Yes, that's what I was talking about. It happened on the last page or two of the Wi/Ht? Memberlist thread...Erm, maybe we shouldn't talk about the Memberlist, because now I'll be doing nothing but saying "There should be another Member voting election sometime soon."

I guess NEVR forgot about you then, lol.

Yes, that's where the name Bahamut came from.

So it goes like this:

Arabic Fish --> D&D Dragon --> FF Dragon --> Me! :D

Yeah, that was it. That was during the time when I was one of the biggest targets for the Star Syndicate.

Mostly BBS. Several threads here. Now, the SS have stopped bothering me and that's fine. I'm not bothered about them anymore, although I still get an occasional message from them via PM, news post, review, Last.fm shoutbox, etc.

We already have a room. ;P

I was quoting Futurama, dammit!

Seating? You sit down when playing on Guitar Hero?!

They were still awesome.

Because they're fake votes by you. XD
