I have a question for you guys, were you all born catholics and have catholic parents, or were some of you raised another religion, or with no religion at all, and convert to catholicism? (which I think is extremely unlikely)
another question, why do the Buddhists, and Hindus, and Jews, and everyone who does not accept that Jesus is their lord and savior, have to spend an eternity burning in the flames of hell?

No, he will not because he wasn't a Christian.
However, If he never heard about God, then thats a different story...

try reading the bible, and not being so ignorant than

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

I thought every religion had their own vision of heaven, and Hindus won't go to our heaven, they'll go to their heaven, just like buddhists will go to their heaven (AKA Nirvana) and so on.

ummm.... are you serious?? no.... christianity is very clear that there is only ONE true god and ONE true heaven, and ONE true hell. according to the bible everyone in the world will either go to heaven or hell when they die, the one heaven or the one hell. the only way to get into the one and only heaven in through Jesus Christ, and belief in anything else is a ticket to hell. plain and simple. it does not surprise me that you do not even know what you believe in, because a good number of christians don't. ever heard of the crusades?? try reading the bible sometime, or ask someone at your church where the hindus and jews go, they'll tell you

Hey Guys,

I was wondering If I am actually able to join this thread? Firstly, I'm christian, I don't exactly believe the views that are put on the Pope. But I can't find a Christians group. And I figure this is the ultimate place to be in that case. Also, I'm not exactly 100% Christian.

I still have doubts in times on God. But overall, I believe this more than any theory Science decided to come up with. There are things about Jesus I don't yet understand, And I'm slowly but surely looking to conquer all my doubts, and become a complete Christian. Not someone who simply believes in it, But hasn't taken the plunge due to a doubt or two.

The reason I'm so interested in becoming a full Christian is because the people I know who attend Church and so on, Have good lives. And besides that, They are good people. The type I would like to be, and look up to. Another thing that has intrigued me so much is the fact that my Girlfriend is a strong Christian. And my life hasn't been ideal. But I think as a good person, God may have given her to me as a gift, Its hard and corny to explain.

I also see some things that convince me God isn't real, But they do not outweigh the things that convince me he is. Such as people starving, His view on Homosexuals, Despite my strong belief they have no choice about how they feel, and the fact that he puts burdens upon people who haven't even been born, And have done nothing to deserve such a thing. I'm willing to become active, and ask questions when in doubt. Hoping you can all help me basically. Hopefully you don't just accept Catholics :)

Thanks,

Happy

I don't think that's what he meant.

I think he meant 'total dependency on condoms will make AIDS worse'. Which is, in a way, true.

Then you say that. You don't say simply, "Condoms will make AIDS worse", because that will fuck with people's minds.

I got to agree with Ryan on this one. It is kinda based on fact and seems more of a rational thought.

Question;

There's all sorts of like, 'Mini' religions, But all base around God and Jesus. But they have minor different beliefs and so on. Does this mean that, Catholics, Protestants, Christians, etc will all still go to heaven. Or does each 'Sub-religion' believe that only there's does. If I worded that correctly.

I personally believe all those who accept Christ and live a virtuous life go to heaven. Those who are virtuous, but have yet to discover Christ go to Purgatory to learn about him and eventually go to heaven.

But that's just me.

Of course, That's my main problem with Catholicism, if you don't believe every word in the Bible you can go fuck yourself and burn forever

That's not what they should be encouraging, they should say if you do bad things, you're going to hell. If you do good things, you're going to heaven. As long as that's the case, I'm happy with religion and the values and good ethics it teaches.

eh.

You have a point there. I really have a tough time wrapping my head around the fact that Jesus wanted that. But I guess he did.

No, Jesus wanted to have everyone love each other and live a good life under a loving god, not punish those who aren't a part of a certain sect of religion.

Then why are they condemned to eternal damnation? I mean, I'm sure he did want that for them. But could he help it? Or is that their fault? Dammit cash, you got me all confuzzled...

I think it's a government thing... I don't know. Maybe you can just ask your father/pastor.

That's what I thought, but considering I'm confirmed (at to young of an age and would have been subject to ridicule and other bullshit had I not complied), I thought that perhaps it made the situation a bit more complicated.

I'm noting all your usernames and tonight I'll look at the list with evil eyes and scorn for 5 hours.

Nah just kidding. My left-wing self says you are allowed to believe what you wish to.

I was baptized as a Catholic.

Got my holy communion.

Then when it was time for confirmation I had to take courses so my mother just went "Ah well fuck it I'm not going to take you to courses for something we don't even believe in."

Then people at school whom I told I didn't get my confirmation were all "But you won't be able to get married in a church!" So I answered "So what?"

And now I've drifted off the path of salvation and will burn in hell for my sins.

If any mod finds this post offensive just delete it. Not that I had to tell you already though...

Well, it probably just means a Catholic priest can't do it for you. I'm sure a protestant minister or something would be happy to wed you.

And btw.. not everybody gets married in a church. But, if you get married at your house, or in some kind of hall... do you still have to follow the church's rules, and limiting dress code?
As I am unsure of this.

I think you have to be baptized in order to be an official member of the Church. I think you still can do it, my cousin got baptized when he was 12.
