I just got Magix Music Maker 10. I am a guitarist who likes alittle bit of everything and am looking to make some decent music. However, the program doesn't quite make sense to me yet. I was wondering if any one could lend a hand with some tips and pointers for a newbi such as myself.

Well when you go into Music Maker why don't you look in the Help section. There will probably be a tutorial.

See that's the thing. I can read the tutorial, but hearing it from people who have experienced it maybe they could give me some ideas on how to USE the knowledge I learned from the tutorial and such. If not, I'll just figure it out by myself.
Don't be such a fucking prick about it.

OK, let's see, I have a copy of Magix 2005 deluxe around here somewhere... I imagine there aren't many differences between the two versions.
Magix is a loop based music app - alot of people crap all over it with a derisive sneer because they use a more "sophisticated" app like FL or reason - Bottom line is that if your making your own loops anyway then Magix is just as viable as Reason.
#1: Make sure that all of your riffs loop perfectly.
You may need another piece of editing software for this - there are freeware titles out there for this -
try looking at this thread and you might also want to dig around in this thread too ...
Make CERTAIN that when you play back a loop that you cannot hear a clcik a glitch a pause or anything else that will give the loop away - This will take a little practice but it's the most important step (in my opinion)
#2: DONT RELY on any prebuilt content or samples that come with the software
You might be able to get away with a few drumlines here and there but overall, if you have the "1000 royalty free loops" on your system then alot of other people do too. Sooner or later someone will call you out on it... Like I said - dont rely on them... you can certainly use them but only to support your original material.
#3: I know that this is probably not what you want to hear but - Read through the help files and check out the sample projects - you really need to play with your software ALOT before you can expect to do anything awesome with it. REMEMBER!! This is just a TOOL - buying a hammer and a saw does not make you a carpenter - Same with any music software.
I know this probably doesn't help much but I hope I've at least pointed out a few things to put you on the right track. This advice is so general though that it could apply to damn near anything...
If you have specific questions about something though, feel free to ask - I will try to answer you - There are a few other people lurking about that are also familiar with Magix and I'm sure that they can help too...
Good luck - and remember:
In the hands of a true artist, a brick is as effective as the finest brush...

Thanks ALOT, man! I really appreciate the tips and encouragement. I don't plan on posting too much stuff anytime soon because I know whats it's like looking in on shit from the portal. I don't plan on making you guys do that. I am going to work my ass off until I can get most of it down. I will be sure to check out those threads, later. But right now I have to leave for work. Thanks again!

Yep, Erkie definitely knows how to use that software - He most likely knows alot more about it then I do.
Since your relatively new here I'll go ahead and translate what I just said into the many versions that you may encounter on this bbs:
Poetic_Revenese: fa sho' dat muthafuckah be knowin his shizzy
Chronamutian: Indeed
ManSpider_BastardManish: Gorebastard sucks ass
TedJohnstonese: I exclusively use REASON to do all of my music, as do ParagonX9, PavoMiskic and so many other great great musicians on NG
Jarrydn-ian: Don't be a prick Ted
...
Good luck on this site... Alot of really good people here...and a few jackholes as well!

I'm getting actually decent at it. Not good enough to post into the portal yet, but still better. I have one problem though. It will not turn my projects into MP3's only WAV. files.

Thanks alot, man! I really appreciate it! Once again, sorry about before, I took it the wrong way.
One question guys. I have finallly converted my audio project into a mp3 file. But I have the free trial of another program to convert. The one he sent me doesn't work for some reason, so I have trial version of something else. Okay, here's my question.
I am really happy with the project I just made, but I don't want to jump the gun and post because I don't want nasty comments, even though I think my new project is A WHOLE LOT BETTER than my old one. Should I post it, even though I am a newbie and see what people think? Or should I wait until I am alot better at it?
Because personally I think I did a pretty good job, for a beginner and am dying to see what people think of it. What do you think?

It is about 2 minutes long, has about 5 or 6 tracks, is decent, and I just want to see what people have to say about it, that way I know what to do or don't do next time I make a project.
So I might post it, soo. My other one, "My Demise" is a crappy quality version..this one I'm actually proud of.

Email it to me Dood. I have basic knowledge on what is expected on the Audio Portal. I'll tell you if it needs improvements, or if it's good enough to go on the Portal. I'll be 100% honest. You have my word.
