I was up all night working again... Happens more and more lately...
I had to come up with 18 minutes of music to score an instructional video that I've been editing all week...
Normally, I do all of my own stuff - but when I need FAST, easy, GENERIC music to fill something in, I whip out the madplayer.
I originally bought this thing back in 2003 maybe... It's a little ... umm... thing ... that generates music. You can choose from something like 30 or so different styles ranging from Downbeat to House - Ambient to Garage...
Easy enough - you push play... and you'll never ever hear to same thing twice (unless you save a song to playback later). An unlimited supply of whatever style that you want...
On it's own, the Madplayer will generate music as long as the batteries are good - but you can take some control over it at any time. You can adjust some parameters - reverb - things like that - if you don't like a bassline you can generate as many new ones as it takes to get it right... Basically you can get as involved as you want or you can let the device do all of the work...
The music is hit or miss - and alot of it sounds a little on the cheap and soul-less side ... but with proper samples and a little set up you can almost -almost- get it to dump out music like the samples on their site..
Check 'em out...
DownbeatDemo1.mp3
JungleDemo2.mp3
TranceDemo1.mp3
These were all generated by the Madplayer device... Obviously some samples have been added and the audio has been cleaned up a little but you'll get an idea of what it's capable of.
You can save files in the native format - convert them to MIDI if you want, and organize everything with some Windows software and a USB cable that comes with it...
This is a great toy to experiment with and even on occasion to get inspiration from - I would suggest that you try to pick one up if possible. (I got mine off of ebay)

That's one cool toy:) I want one. I love the idea of it. Looks like I might be scouring e-bay for one soon:)
Btw...in my response to u're review I said i didn't know who Flynn and CLU were, but of course, they are from the movie TRON, what a great film:) They used to play that movie when I was a kid on the last day of school before the Summer Hols, every year! The bikes scene, a classic. Can't believe I didn't figure out the reference sooner:)
Keep sharing your cool gadget finds.

Not me... what you heard was generated by a piece of hardware with little or no human interaction.
It's like your very own little robot composer... only problem with it is that music composed by robots generally sounds... robotic...
:)
