There's no such thing as a best program, it's how you use it. lay at least fifty bucks down if you want good abilities in your software.

Thats gist really as erkie says, no best programme, but how you use it. You can do midi/synth in acid, fl and reason, you can layer in all. Reason sounds strange, its a bit of an odd one, maybe cos if you make a pattern and run it it actually IS slightly different everytime. Any more experienced users correct me if i'm wrong please.
FL can sound clean or buzzy and is a more static, reliable type of sound.
Both is a strength and a weakness.
Acid's main thing is a free form sequencer, where you can put anything in at any time, just paint it in.... with a pencil. Midi, soundfiles, mpg's....
Personally i think the best musician could make a quality track using just a guitar and a tape recorder. We'll see.....

For my own interest could you please tell me about any weakness FL has?
I've never found a weakness with it in my years with it.

It's hard to get to sound professional quality good without hard work or the use of vst's like you and pandora do. However that's hardly a weakness, seeing as how the vst's are there for that purpose. Also, the synths in fruity loops are incredible, I love sytrus and 3xOSC, they are very very powerful and capable of doing incredible things, but it does take time to program the synths. I find that the sequencer and piano roll in FL is far more powerful than that of the Reason sequencer/piano roll, but Reason's sequencer is superior to me because it allows you to freely write on and on, without the restrictions of patterns, it's like a really really long sheet of music. It's easier for me to get creative there than on FL's. Another weakness... hmm... It's a bit harsh on the cpu, and if you don't have a decent enough computer, you'll have some problems writing on it. Any other I can think of? hmm... It comes with a serious lack of hi-quality samples, very few drums, no real good strings, no realistic sounding... anything. Reason makes up for this big time by coming with an enormous sound library with really great sounding instruments and synths. And the combinator... oh man the combinator! Anyway, I'm a big fan or rewire anyway, so the weaknesses are overcome by the symbiosis of the two.

Well about the cpu thing, i've never noticed since im on a
2.8GHZ AMD Athlon 64
1024 MB ram and so on.
And yes, the oscillators and stuff can be harsh if you arent used to it, but i still am so thats nothing to me ;).I'm not sure about the step sequencing, can you explain it further?Remember that im a tired swede ;D

What I meant was the playlist. I think it sucks a little that you have to create different patterns, and in the playlist add the different patterns to create a song, unless you write one REALLY long pattern, which would make things difficult. In reason though, with simple touches of the interface, it makes writing on the sequencer very easy and it's better than FL's to me because you can copy and paste patterns on it, but then on the same line you can go and write new things on it without having to create like a new pattern in FL. It's not that big, but it's intuitive and I like it :)

It all comes down to what your used to... I like fruity loops the best, but i find you have to work a bit harder to get a better sound where as programs like reason make it really easy for you, but you end up sounding like everyone else. Fruity loops when used properly leaves you open for alot more origional stuff.
Cubase is probably the best program out there overall with logic following a close second, but logic is only really good if you have a mac, and not wanting to get into a debate about macs but I hate them. After working in a design company for a while using these "super power macs" and my old PC was better.
At the end of the day, all you can do is try... get demos of Cubase, Fruity, Reason, and Logic.. or even things like Acid Pro might surfice... If your looking to actual music making instead of aranging loops don't get EJAY, Ejay is where tallentless people arrange premade loops that are all in key with each other.. but it could be a way for you to learn proper arrangement. I used Ejay when i was like 13/14 and had a laugh with some of the cheesy stuff I made... and laughed even harder when there were people out there who said they would love to hear it in a club... they must go to shit clubs...

Thats a demo...Bin's are used to be run by fake cdrom drives.Dont remember the name since i don't pirate my stuff, a demo has everything inlcuded in the installer. However the full program hs to install from a CD, in case you don't have the CD you use the BIN file.

Best combination ever > FL studio + Reason + Cubase + Traktor
lol well for me its more then enough cuz FL has most plugins and synths all I need is some extra to the sound so I use Reason Q and Traktor as extra (traktor great synth)

I got fl studio for free with my sound card, along with cubasis VST. Creative do some great bundles.
Anyway, after using it, i can say that if you want to make music, but havnt had any experience (as in playing a notated instrument, or you play an instrument that uses tabs) with written notation, fruityloops is for you. You can learn fruityloops without a musical background and make some awesome stuff on it. However, if you have musical background (i first started computer aided music with grade 7 piano and a GCSE. Sorry. i'm british :P) i'd reccomend going for somthing a little more advanced like reason or cubase SX, because i found that fruityloops was somwhat limiting in a compositional sencse, and you were pretty much stuck doing trance/techno/d&b.

too true. I have a friend who makes IDM almost as good as Aphex Twin and the like using FL - and I find FL gives you more room to be free than other programs.. but I also use Cubase SX 2 when i need a break from FL... I really need to get around to buying FL 5 tho, I really want my tracks to be in 24bit sound.
