i have a level 42 ice wizard, which i just leveled 2 days ago and it's at 20% now.
i also have a level 28 bandit that i started about a week or two ago.
which one should i continue? should i continue my wizard until i get really bored and then i'll have lots of money to fund my bandit?
or should i just stick with the 2.1 mil i have right now on my wizard and use it to fund my bandit?

Well, it all comes down to the million dollar question.
Which one would you rather play? Putting aside all money, putting aside level, and equips which one is more fun to play for you?
I recently started playing a bandit because they were more fun to play than my warrior. Sure I had some money to fund him so he has some pretty okay stuff, nothing godly, but okay stuff and he's super fun to play. I just can't wait til SB.
Also..
I heard mastery came before SB, I hear it improves the max attack a bit too, but meh, whatever works for you. That's still a nice 800 dmg you have there even without mastery. What I want to do is Put 2 in mastery and 1 in SB per level. Then haste, booster and a bit in Steal, because I want it.

If it was Me. I would go for the Bandit. Magicians get amazingly weak pass level 50 and not to machine boring (I trained my friend Andrew, Lv.54 Cleric to 56) and there's to many Magicians in the game as it is. Transfer the money to the Bandit, get a nice Fan, Get him his 2nd Job, and start stabbing. Good Luck...

Yeah, I always heard the Mastery thing but i'd rather go with SB since mastery is a boring skill to max. If you're having a good time, go with it. Also, you might not want to get all of booster right off. 6-10 points will probably do it, then you can get haste. After that, I hear you're pretty free to do whatever.
Also, I noticed that the skill is called "Savage Blow: Dagger", meaning it could be like FA, (Final Attack: Weapon) used for several weapons. I wonder if we'll get other savage blow skills come fourth job.
Today I got GiantIsopod to 32, got my purple numbers. Which is basically all they are until Critical Hit is to a decent level.
Someone else was doing 2 master and 1 SB a level. Mastery increases your minimum damage, which will make SB better since even at maxed it does 80% damage (though it is x6). Mastery will make your other attacks better, but it all depends on how quick you want your SB. People will start asking/telling you to SB, and at 1 a level it will take a while to max it. (and SB goes to 30 and Mastery goes to 20)
Why do mages apparently get so weak? do they just not get stronger attacks?
If i had a funded character, id get a Korean Fan (atleast average) and scroll the crap out of it. People seem to say that they keep the 35 dagger for a long time. Though im definitly getting some of those really high lvl daggers if i play that long. That Cursayer owns.

Because Wizet sucks ass at class balance. This is also the cause of archers being way out of balance during the Third Job, and Warriors being a bitch to play until they get a decent amount of FA.

The reason they stick with their fan for so long is that the Shinkita, the level 50 LUK dagger, completely ignores dagger booster. What I mean by that is, when you have a Shinkita equipped, you can't use dagger booster.
Another reason is they've made it godly as hell.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. All classes in the lower/mid 60's suck balls. It's only come 3rd job that the classes become fun and easy to play again. I mean Thunderspear does like 8k of damage per hit by level 80 or something outrageous like that.
And warriors aren't really that hard to play until FA (with exception of pages) because the other skills you get are actually useful and help you out with training. FA is a nice additional attack however it's not consistant nor is it stable.

Well yeah it's a bit silly. But you forgot one important fact low dex build bandits use the korean fan a whole lot too as it has no dex requirements to equip. Also the fan has a bunch of boosts that come with it and has a decent attack. So it's really the ideal dagger from level 35 - 60 if you can manage to scroll/get a scrolled one.
Usually the fan wouldn't be as popular as here are other no dex requirement daggers in the game, however since the korean fan is the only one we have in global it's so popular. Just wait til the Lui Bei comes out, if it ever does.

4k. >:O Also, assassins getting one level a day is kind of out of balance, when other classes struggle to just get 25% or so.

I mean while you're getting mastery, I don't really know warrior builds for shit but I know mastery comes first. And I hate passive skills, (Except critical, which you can notice in the pink numbers even at low levels) so i'd imagine it'd be a bitch.

Well Sins are weak. I mean if it weren't for all those reatrds wasting 100's of millions on 11 attack work gloves and uber scrolled equipment I'm pretty sure that a level 90 sin would be the equivalent of a level 75 anything else.
Rouges in general aren't meant for power, they're meant for speedy hits and a lot of them. It's the community that makes it so unfair. Hell even with their godly scrolling some sins can't keep up with DK's their level.
Granted trying to argue which class would be supreme is pointless as they all have their faults. The sin's weakness is weakness. But in exchange for that they get super fast leveling, speed, range, and an abundance of scrolled equipment.
Also I thought I saw in a video of a level 8X doing like 10k to yetis. :o

The only really REALLY useful passive skill is Rage. And mastery should always come first when it is offered. I remember it improving my min attack so much that my average damage increased by 300 in just a matter of days. Which is quite a bit considering how low of a level I was.

Rage isn't passive, you have to use the skill.

Not on Assassins, Javelin Mastery doesn't affect lucky seven.
Use MP to throw 2 throwing stars and apply damage based on LUK, regardless of the rate : of javelin mastery.
Also, I wish mastery DID affect lucky 7, which it actually will in the future, according to a guide on GameFAQS. It's already implemented in JMS. But right now all it gives me is extra stars and accuracy.
I finaly leveled up my Assassin after like two months of not playing him. Finaly mastered Critical Shot and I lent my friend my whole Dark Shadow Set for no reason yesterday o_O. Level 41!
This page is strange. It's mostly an arguement of class disbalance between Hoodz and Frangek. LET THE BATTLE RAGE ON! >:O
And yeah... Leveling assassins is s00per easy.
So I trained Isopod some after hitting level 32. I bought back all my potions and recharged all my stars after I finished and....
Behold...NET WORTH!

-.-
You said it was level 49 before.
I havent been on Maple since Saturday due to parents aided-by-brother-related shinanigans. Really annoying as I was JUST getting back into leveling.
Sermen, all I ask is that you don't level too much in my absence.
Quest and stuff. And shop around.
For anyone that hasn't seen one yet;

Well for me, the bandit is a lot more fun than my wizard, but that might be because I hadn't played on my bandit in such a long time. I got 20% today on green mushrooms without even getting bored, and they get me .03% each. So that's pretty fun. My bandit is currently level 28.
My wizard on the other hand, is really strong, especially against fire monsters. I am an ice/lit wizard and i have maxed ice and I'm working on maxing meditaion next. What I really don't like though, is all the MP potions I waste. It's a waste of money, but if I go AFK for even a few minutes, I get at least 600 MP back. My wizard is currently level 42.
And with all of your guys' help, I think I will continue my bandit, because I'm really excited about when I get to level 50+ because I will have maxed Savage Blow, Matery, and a little bit of haste. Thanks for all of your help, guys!

I heard she had that for a while now; In any case, she levels like crazy. I knew her when I was level 4x and she was 5x. Now I'm only 6x while she's much MUCH farther ahead.
Also, for those of you who play Bera, another exceptional female warrior that comes to mind is UrSoFugly - the last time I saw her, she was sitting around Nath with her sexy Blue Screamer. Talk about power.
In any case, high leveled female warriors are kind of rare, so seeing a few uber pro ones can be quite nice.

Personally, I think each class has its advantages as well as drawbacks. I think bandits have 3rd job skills that are much more fun to use. However, I think ice mage 3rd job skills are way more practical. I recently saw a level 83 ice mage in Ludi completely owning viking ships by merely freezing them and zapping the crap out of them.
I think it depends on what you plan to do with your character. If you'd rather have interesting 3rd job skills you'd like to play around with, I'd say go with the bandit. However, if you're thinking about serious, strategic leveling, I'd say go with the ice mage.
I'd also like to point out that both are fairly costly to fund (though any decent bandit would need an attack glove while mages obviously do not), since wand and dagger scrolls are both relatively expensive.
Sorry I took a nap.
At 3/15/06 01:08 PM, Frangek wrote: Rage isn't passive, you have to use the skill.
I consider Rage a passive skill simply because it's not an attacking skill. And if it's not aggressive it's passive. My termonology may just be off. Meh.
Not on Assassins, Javelin Mastery doesn't affect lucky seven.
That's lame and a half. You'd think Wizet, if doing that, wouldn't even nclude Javelin mastery seeing as how an assassins attack is pretty much solid L7 with a touch o drain here and there.
Well then make that an exception for assassins.

I personally think of all skills that you have to physically activate to be active skills. Passive skills are things like elemental resistance for DKs and weapon mastery - skills that can be helpful but don't cost MP and/or HP to use, and ones that don't require the player to do anything.
