That's true, but only the officials could vote, and the officials were all rich white men (and not because of coincedence, but because the system was made to heavily favor them.)
Ben Franklin was one. He started out without a pot to piss in and a window to pour it out of.

On the contrary, it' very much the point. You asked "Who else dominates in XYZ?" and I gave you a laundry list. Domination implies not only getting there first but staying there consistantly. Besides, the idea that "we got there first, so we're the best" is moot. Even if it isn't to you, then it's still not accurate. One man may invnet a thing but another man half a world away may perfect it. And, as has already been pointed out, many of these things were already being tested around the world. Should america be held aloft because it was lucky enough to have the winning inventor living on her soil? What about Marconi? The Mongolfier brothers? Von Zepplin? Vaun Braun? Pasteur? Are these inventor's contributions to be dismissed because they weren't american? Seems a touch egocentric to me. Maybe even a little hint of a superiority complex.

Maybe Lincoln, but I don't think he was all that poor when he ran. He was born poor.

Hmm...I wonder, does arguing against obvious implications in favor of frivolous technicalities seem like a good argument to you?
Its funny how you use Hitler right off the bat. Stop comparing people to Hitler, its getting old, its an overused comparison, and no one in this world right now in power has much to compare to him...get off it.
Ford sucks. Volkswagen rules.
Haha, nice
You're just gonna name some inventors who happened to be American? I could start naming inventors from my country too, to prove how kickass we are.
Haha...um, maybe you should re-read the question of the thread. It wasn't "Why America is infallible" it was "What has America done right"...
By the way, I'm pretty sure it wasn't an American who invented the wheel. An invention a millions times more important than planes and automobiles.
...uh...huh? Haha, yes very nice observation about the Americans not inventing the wheel. *sarcasm reaches out and kills anyone reading*
Yeah, he was okay. But there also have been lots of good leaders in other country's. Having had one good leader doesn't mean anything.
Right...so because there were good leaders in other countries, he is excluded?...hmm, great way of thinking, you'll get far in life.
Blabla, they stole land from the Natives, dediced they didn't want to pay taxes to England anymore and started a war in which they didn't even fight themselves. Big fucking deal.
A war they didn't even fight themselves...hmm, review your history lessons perhaps?
I'd love to explain how absolutely stupid and opposite of the truth this whole part is, but I don't have the time right now. Maybe later. Just remember how great your voting system worked in 2000, for starters.
Hmm...well you probably should have made time if you wanted to make any of your post worthwhile, because the rest of it wasn't worth much...perhaps your genius observations would have revealed the insight which would have made me "see the light"...
I bet I can guess your arguments though. "Democracy is not the most balanced system, look at all these things they do wrong"...right?...well, I bet I could guess your argument ater that as well.
"Look how corrupt they are and they did this and do this"...right, because your country's politicians aren't corrupt?
Oh yeah, and about how our voting system "failed" in 2000...no, it really didn't, the system was intact and in order. A good chunk of the American population however, most defenitely did.

born poor made it rich and this was what a hundred and fourty years ago. yes he's one of the few that worked his way up to get his money. look at all your early and late presidents: washington, adams, jeffferson, madison, ect ect
reagan, bush Sr., Clinton, Bush JR.
