That's a noble idea, but it is also very flawed. The system (I'm hoping) may be intended for good, but something like this could very easily be used for evil (ha ha, that sounds corny but its true). I thought up something like this called the Respect System, in which you could vote for people determining how much you respect them. Zero would be No respect, and 5 would be the utmost respect. That way, if a person recieved mainly 0 for votes, they would be considered unrespected, and put on a waiting list to be deleted from NG's. Tom and Wade would review the users on the list, decide which ones really deserve to be deleted, and then deal with them accordingly. At the time I thought this would be a great idea (I still kind of do, but I see the flaws in it moreso now), but it could so easily be abused, and many people who don't derserve to be deleted would end up that way.

So, what you are saying is a good idea, but its still too sketchy to really work. Plus, NG's needs all the users it can get; that way there's a higher chance that the popup ads will be clicked on, and NG's will be able to stay around.

A respect-o-meter would be good though not with the getting blammed for low respect. to give it meaning maybe have a ranking of 1-5 and someone with a 3 respect voting on another persons movie/game with a respect of 3 would get 1 and a half voting power or something. who knows its frivolous for the most part and nothing will come of it. ok that was fun.

Wow! Well, I wasn't saying literally blam people, but there are just a couple of asses on this site that I just get sick of seeing, doing stupid stuff. Personally, I don't wanna name any names right off the bat, but there are those, who vote "5" and rate 10 on stupid stick movies that are under 5k preventing them from getting blammed.

I'm kinda startin' to like the little idea of a respect system thing-o'mabob. Say, when you become a new user, you start out with 0 respect and you can build up your respect like you do your experience, like "you've gained 10 exp. points and 3 respect points" or something of the sort and depending on how you vote on movies and how well your movies do overall helps in determining your level of respect and overall, that can help determine how you're ranked...or something.

I think that a system where a respect meter comes in would be good...but instead of blamming them, they should just get like kind of a warning system type deal...you know where you lose more privileges as you progress further down...first offense could be you can't post a movie for a week...second can't post for a month...third never again. But that should only come into play I think if someone posts like a racist or sexist kind of movie...something that is meant to just make fun of a particular group or something...because damn it we can't have that in movies, that's what the BBS is for!

That sounds like a good idea except for Tom and Wade to decide on who gets banned. What could they do? Review their reviews and posts to see if they have been rude to others? What if they have 1,000 posts? How could they know which are the bad behavior ones? Also, let's not forget that Tom and Wade are human too (right?) and they might kick people off based on personal reasons. Anyways. This idea could work with some tweaking. Hmmm, let me think....
For instance: maybe just getting them banned from the forums. Because otherwise where else can people really fuck with others? The portal? Ok I saw the movie from the topic post and I agree it was sick. (Image 1 on Rotten.com) But it'll soon be blammed. For the people who vote things like that high? I don't know. We'll never be able to know for sure WHO votes WHAT on WHICH movies. Besides, technically the voting is all in someone's opinion. Let's not forget that. What may seem HORRIBLE and BLAM-WORHTY to one person may make another person laugh. (obvisouly the kind of people who are entertained by shiny things but oh well)

I'm going to try to find the old topic in which I created the respect system. Let's revive this sucker, and see if people still have the same opinions on it.

Tanner on SeveredHeads.net is in the process of creating a warning system similar to AIM. After a user recieves a set number of warnings, they aren't able to post, submit or deposit the rest of that day. For NG of course it would have to be a pretty high number...but it would be nice. Certain people could be silenced, or at least be forced to post something coherent and non-stupid for a change.

Perhaps, but somehow it went beyond 100 votes, so regular users can't BLAM it - only the Fulps can.
