Tonight was "pro-night" at Comic-Con here in San Diego. It is a preview night before the official launch of Comic-Con Thursday morning. Access is limited to exhibitors and visitors who have purchased a full five day pass.
So far things are off to a great start! The Behemoth booth is all set up with a 50" HDTV, where we will be unveiling our new game on Thursday (technically today since it is 12:52AM as I type this). We will be giving away antennas as well as a large variety of really neat buttons that you can pin on your shirt! We are also selling stickers, AH figurines, t-shirts and skateboard decks.
Broken Saints and College University have both set up booths this year, making for a strong NG community presence! ROG from I-Mockery.com is also in town and will be roaming the convention center in his pickle hat and goggles.
One user asked that I give him a shout out on the front page but not mention his username... So to that cool kid who came by tonight, here's your shout out!
After tonight I had to prepare some new signs for tomorrow. One sign is to notify people of our "ONE BUTTON PER VISITOR" policy. While we would love for people to help themselves to our variety of buttons, there are a lot of people who come and take too many, so we need to strictly enforce the policy. John and the Behemoth team here in San Diego worked hard making buttons by hand (we have a button press here in the office), so supplies are limited.
I made another sign to notify people of HOW BUGGY OUR NEW GAME DEMO IS. While no one has seen it yet, I'm already bracing myself for the bugs we will be hearing about tomorrow. We crunched hard and fixed a ton of issues these past few days, but there is ONE NASTY BUG that remains, and it kills gameplay when it inevitably happens. The demo still rocks, though; it runs in total hyper mode with four players and a ton of enemies on the screen, until something goes wrong and we have to reset the devkit.
It's exciting because NO ONE has seen this game yet, so it is a true WORLD PREMIER at Comic-Con and the bugs come with the territory. Most other companies would never show a game to the general public this early in development. I can't wait to see the response!
