This means simply, the heaviest noise anyone has heard used in music. Guitar riffs are welcome, but i prefer to hear about things like aphex and squarepusher's crazy noises they use for the loud bass kicks. Any others, anyone?

Skelechairs (Ventian Snares Remix) by Doormouse is generally a heavy trk, i love it.
The hard bass fuzz and dirty distorted stabs and breaks.

1. I don't get what you're saying
2. You semi-ripped my thread.
I'm just going to make a link to my thread here.

Ehm, Even if he semi ripped your thing, advertising isnt the general purpose here.
You just did, without even caring for the topic.

sticktorture, it is possible to have a heavy SOUND that isnt heavy metal. Ie orchestral bass stabs etc, so no, i've not ripped your thread.
I'm just making a thread to see what people define as a heavy in various genres, they're favourite examples. Just to make you happy tho, NO GUITAR RIFFS IN THIS THREAD, not that i was expecting people to choose this thread over the heaviest riff bit if they like metal, because as you put it, you dont understand what i'm saying.

In Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy". That ridiculously loud scream was so damn heavy and powerful to me...
Also in Aphex Twin's "Orban EQ Trx4" the kick he uses is pretty heavy

Current favourites - the sudden boneshaking bass at the start of vordhosbn by aphex on the drukqs album
Craveone remix of bounty killer - man a badman
and commercial drum n bass whilst formulaic is really heavy if you hear it through the right set up.

Craveone is a rare rare artist, less well known than aphex. Does all kinds of glitchcore messiness mixed with fat junglist breakbeats. On that track anyway. Sounds similar in idea to aphex, but the style is completely different.

I like them, but i gotta stop listening to them for fear of ripping them off :S

Sorry for being sselfish n shit here, but I´m actually gonna advertise for my own song "I Like Machines" , the "heavy sound" is actually what built that song, and mastering is all made concidering the "phat sound". But unfortunatley, i could probably master it better now, buuut what the hell... its still quite heavy.
Other than that, many songs by ParagonX9 ARE phat, for example "Battle Of Honour" . Lovley stuff.

Lol its ok to advertise your own work as being heavy, as long as you honestly think at time of posting that its got the heaviest sound you hear. If i listen to your track and its all airy fairy, you're in trouble mate :)

Nice track, quite a generally heavy feel to it, however i'm not in the mood to appreciate it properly, what with all thats going on.

Aphex uses some really heavy-ass dirty sounds but I think squarepusher might seem a little more so at times... Some of squarepusher's stuff is just a little too arythmic for my tastes though - anyone hear the "do you know squarepusher?" cd? - first track kicks all sorts of ass but the rest is just a bit too crazy - almost like he decided to go the straight curcuit bending route with it...

Hmmm, i've not heard anything apart from the title track, i find that one funky.
Arrythmic playing can be cool, tho with squarepusher i find its sometimes hard to tell whats is extremely syncopated, and what just doesnt follow a rythm.
