Myspace | Audio | Alter | It sounds like a fire hydrant went off in an old folks home with screaming babies field recorded, glitched, and spontaneously played back

it depends on what you want. if you want a muti-track recording program (pretty much an all purpose studio recording program) then the good ones are Cakewalk SONAR, MOTU Digital Performer, and Steinberg Cubase.

if you want something simpler, try Adobe Audition or Sony SoundForge (these are multi-track too, but less powerful/complicated, etc...)

the thing is, all those i mentioned above are professional pieces of software used by the pros, so they'll be sure to put a dent in your pocket. if you need a free piece of audio editing software, lookup "Audacity" on Google.

good luck my friend. cheers an g'day.

Personally I use one called Kristal, it's a freeware (for personal use) multitrack program with support for VST plugins etc, very nice layout and just has a nice feel for it :)

What I'd like to know tho is what most of you metal fans out there use for your drum tracks? Currently I'm using Beatcraft and it's good - but I'm sure there is much better out there. I've tried fruity loops but didn't really think much of it, not for purely drum loops :S

For my recording program I use Cakewalk Guitar Tracks 2 and for my drum program I use Drag and Drop Drummer.
